Critique

KLEIN: I have a very definite interpretation of the breed standards. I was looking for something in the Kleins which didn’t resemble a Pomeranian therefore the head proportions were correct. In the Mittels they shouldn’t Look too much like the Japanese Spitz so the body proportions needed to give an almost square outline and the muzzle not too long. In some classes I was hard pushed to match the standard. However, I was extremely pleased with my main winners. In the Kleins I was feeling quite good about them. While I was judging the dogs as the breed appeared to have improved quite a lot since I judged them. Sadly this did not continue when I got to the bitches. Generally quite a lot of heads were too short in muzzle, giving, for me, a pommy appearance. The breed standard calls for the muzzle to be approximately half the length of the head. Consequently the mouths were worse in this size.

PD. 1. Kirby and Ventura’s, Terendak Bumbleberry. 11 months old glamorous cream. Good head with correct muzzle proportions, neat ears, good shaped eyes giving an alert expression. Moved well. 2. Hartley’s, Stormavon Soul Singer. 9 months old black. Light in bone for a top sized dog. Head, eye and expression good.

JD. 1. Dickinson and Taylor and Ventura’s, Terendak Bubble Baileys. 11 months old cream litter brother to puppy dog winner. Another lovely dog who I prefer slightly more at the moment to his brother as he gives a more balanced appearance. He also has lovely clear eyes which anhances his expression. BP. 2. Kirby’s, Terendak Tinker-Tailor. 15 months old black with gleaming coat. At the smaller end of the scale but still well balanced. Moved very well. 3. Beard’s, Ticapon Meritus Victor with Haswem (Imp).

PGD. 1. Furbers’s, Holbain Star a Twinkling. Very striking particolour who did his best to play his handler up on thre move. He did eventually settle for me to see enough. Right amount of bone and substance for his size and if gets his act together he could win top awards. 2. Warriner’s, Tegwel Blazeaway of Timberwolf. Would have liked a bit more length of leg to give a better balanced picture.

LD. 1. Furber’s, Holbain Fat Boy Slim. Brown dog in excellent coat and condition. Good tail set. Small erect ears. Right amount of bone for his size. Moved very well. I see has the same sire as my previous class winner. RCC. 2. Harrop’s, Grovelyn Cream Tease. Another very nice dog. A little finer in bone than my winner. Good head with alert expression. Moved very well. 3. Serman’s, Roydenzone Cortese among Tymy.

OD. 1. Furber’s, Wizaland Dr Papalou at Holbain. Striking brown and white parti colour. Medium sized dog. Lovely conformation, moved effortlessly with a brisk action. CC. 2. Wright’s, Champion Orion Mirror Image. A worthy champion. Effortless movement with particularly good front action. Nothing to dislike about this dog, but I just prefer slightly more substance. 3. Alison’s, Chilite Nitelite for Oberitz.

VB. 1. Hoskin’s, Printzagems Simply Red at Lukach. Glamourous red bitch of 8 years of age. Profuse coat with excellent bone. She moved very well and I was pleased to award her the RCC. She was unlucky to come up against the eventual CC winner who I had alredy given a top award to previously.

PB. I couldn’t have had two more different types, sizes and colour in this class. 1. Chamber’s, Lusam Cream Cracker for Musique. Cream bitch at the smallest end of the size scale. Although very petite she won this class on her overall conformation. 2. Goodwin’s, Royenzone Flo. Black bitch at the top end of the scal. Lovely head, eye and expression. A little long in body and moved close behind.

JB. 1. Lovelock’s, Shetlock’s, Heart Breaker. Black in good coat and condition. Played her handler up on the move, but managed to see enough for her to win the class. 2. Rogerson’s, Nosregor Classic Gold. Black masked gold, a little long in forface and body but moved well.

PGB. 1. Wallwork’s, Groverlyn Bron-Yr-Eur. Black in excellent coat. Good head. Good overall type but moving a little close behind. 2. Warriner’s, Tegwell Star Attraction of Timberwolf. Just coming back into coat. Pretty bitch but preferred the head of first. LB. A very mixed class for type. 1. Lovelock’s, Shetlock Go-Go Dancer. Cream bitch. Nice type not a very enthusiastic showgirl. Moved quite well. 2. Serman’s, Roydenzone Chianti among Tymy. Cream bitch. Nice type not a very enthusiastic showgirl. Moved quite well. 2. Serman’s, Roydenzone Chianti among Tymy. Pretty brown and white parti colour. Excellent coat and condition. A bit too short in forface. 3. Hoskin’s, Holbain Candy Floss with Lukach.

OB. 1. Dickinson and Taylor and Ventura’s, Ch. Bubble and Squeak at Terendak. Gorgeous black, just the type I was looking for. At the top end of the end of the scale for size but she has everything the standard asks for. A really good ambassador for the breed. I considered her the best example of the breed on the day and judged her accordingly. CC and BOB.
