Critique
For the first time in several years the Gods were kind to WELKS and we enjoyed lovely sunny weather, an outside ring and one of the happiest atmospheres I’ve noticed for a long time.
PD (4) 1 Temple’s Flactem Reflections Mit Rimazet, easily the most advanced in body and coat. I don’t wish him to grow much more but this cream sable had, for me, the best balanced head, lovely eyes with a good foreface and correct mouth. Little neck, fairly short backed and well set tail. In lovely coat he is so responsive to his handler and moved truly. 2 Morgan’s Kismet the Maestro black, very pretty head, very pommy in outlook, in stunning coat which shines and sparkles in the sunlight. A cobby little chap he needs to grow on a bit for a male and his skull needs to flatten. 3 McDonald’s Kismet the Kraken of Glendonald
JD (4) 1 Jones’ Lusam Zeus this shaded sable scores in head balance, lovely stop and muzzle, neat ears and dark expressive eyes. Looks short on the leg but it is almost over coating that gives that appearance. His tail set is so good and he shows so well in stance. Needs to calm down on the move. 2 Chambers’ Nosregor Hot Shot for Musique a size bigger and that fraction longer in the loin therefore not quite the squareness in shape I hope to find. His head is really good to go over, he was in fantastic coat condition and is another who uses his ears well. Tends to side wind when moving across the ring which is a bit of a shame. 3 Serman’s Tymy Tic Toc
PGD (5) 1 Jones’ Rossfort Cream Cracker a really rich orange which is glamour for a start. Stands foursquare, good head balance, well shaped eyes, another which had benefitted from being in spotless coat condition and to crown it all he has a smooth cheeked headpiece with nice muzzle finish. Could just put a little more in when moving. 2 Hughes Timberwolf Rocket Man over Candease a sound moving black and white which is not quite so short coupled as the winner and not quite his confidence. He has a well laid shoulder, very good forechest and spring of rib and is not overdone in neck. In nice condition. 3 Dyer’s Javarm Daddy Cool
LD (8) 1 Quayle’s Kartmel Vianden I am sure this dark well coated dark sable will do a lot of winning. Lots to commend him, all male head, little neck, quite squarely proportioned and high set tail. Moved briskly round the ring and looked well in the challenge. 2 Allison’s Terelatim Windy Miller this cream sable is very glamorous and takes the eye in stance. In tremendous coat he was presented immaculately. Shows so well and has a very nice headpiece. Side on and from the rea his action was OK but he is a bit loose in front when compared to Viaden. 3 Johnston’s Dourhu Dynamic.
OD (8) 1 & CC Wright’s Ch. Orion Mirror Image & 2nd & Res.CC Chamber’s Ch. Printzagems Bill Double You both creams and so alike they could be litter mates. As it is they are half brothers, sharing the same German imported sire. To me they epitomise the Klein, no questioning which size they should be yet they have amply weighted bone, excellent feet and pasterns, are so balanced in proportions and have delightful headpieces. Both in lovely coat, they too shone in the sunlight and from the outset the battle for top dog was clearly between these two handsome boys. In splitting them I felt the winner had the edge in front assembly which allowed him that bit truer front action. The second is that little shorter coupled and possibly has the edge in eye shape. In a decision which could have gone either way I was just more enchanted with Images’ style as they went around the ring together. 3 Dickinson, Taylor & Ventura’s Terendak Bubble Baileys
PB (9) 1 & BPIB Storm’s Stormavon Spirit in the Sky, this is a real little doll with the most pert of expressions from a good head with flattish skull and gorgeous eyes. Shapely, short coupled, high set tail , well pigmented and spotlessly presented. Self assured on the move she just needs to settle in front. 2 Johnston’s Stromavon Silhouette of Dourhus I see this shaded cream is litter sister to the winner. Lovely headpiece, good skull with excellent muzzle finish, perfect mouth and well set ears. Little neck, well ribbed and sturdy hind legs. Not the assurance of her sister on the move as yet, not keen on being followed but left to her own devices coped well. Needs to steady in rear action. 3 Temple’s Rimazet Zephyr
JB (3) 1 Dickinson & Robinson’s Terendak Bubble Cream another glamour puss with lovely eyes for shape, colour and expression. Solid in rib, fairly compact with a good tail carriage and standing on neat feet. Plus points for presentation. In the challenge I felt she had not quite the skull/foreface balance of those I preferred to her. 2 Serman’s Shetlock Infatuation Among Tymy sadly this very promising light red was totally out of coat so at a great disadvantage. Well balanced head with a well weighted foreface and good underjaw. Fairly short in neck, lovely forechest, forelegs well under her body and the best front action. Just needs time to furnish to do well. 3 Hawker’s Upton Girl D’Arlande of Chilite (Imp)
PGB (5) 1 Gillies’ Kartmel Whirlwind hugely coated black with a pleasing head though ears could be smaller to advantage. Scores in ribcage, shortness in back and good tail carriage. Side on looks good but like a number of others her front could be truer. 2 Beck’s Nardik Sugababe very compact cream out of a smaller mould and this exaggerated by her being short of coat and furnishings. Nicely ribbed and so compact. Pleasing head proportions but skull could be flatter. 3 Sheasby’s Edburton Hint of a Tint at Wychlea
LB (3) 1 Furber’s Holbain Heaven Sent this full coated b/w certainly shows her head off. Nice size, good legs and feet and takes the eye as they circle the ring, head & tail up and brisk in action. She has a very good head, with especially nice eyes and expression. 2 Breen’s Hasweth Shady Lady at Kylecroft, this blue fawn was literally as naked as a jay bird, but it only made it easy to appreciate how well put together she is in construction. Once settled she proved to be ultra sound and she has a really well balanced headpiece. Will do a lot of winning when back in coat. 3 Metcalfe’s Flacten Dreamin Rose.
OB (8) A strong class with some very good quality bitches. 1 CC & BOB Kimber & Bridgen’s Stonelight Periwinkle plain black jacket does not help her to stand out in the crowd but once handled on the table, her many virtues are very obvious. Beautifully headed, neat ears, the skull quite flat and she has a decent underjaw and good mouth. Little neck, so well ribbed with good straight forelegs and a well laid shoulder. In gleaming condition she showed superbly to win this class, the BCC and then her better front action won her BOB. I believe her 2nd CC and I hope she doesn’t have too long to wait for her crown. 2 & RCC Furber’s Holbain Snow Fox, another real show girl with all the glamour one could seek. Another whose headpiece I greatly admired, just the right combination of eyes, ears, pigmentation and skull strength to give the picture of a beautiful Klein head. Well ribbed, that trifle longer cast than the winner and whilst good in profile, she too could be that little straighter in front action. Should be made up. 3 Morgen’s Edburton Fox Trot.
