German Spitz Club of GB - Championship show
5th Nov 2017
Many thanks for the invitation to judge Kleins at our Championship show,
It was a great honour and a privilege. Thanks also to my ring stewards and the
Club for a well run show. Also thanks to Lisa Moir, who argued her points
extremely well, glad we could agree on some! Honoured to judge along side her to
award the top honours.
I was pleased with my entries, although quite a mixture of type, in the main, good
quality. A couple of areas I would like to highlight are lack of rib, this I came across
a lot, concerning as not only do they house all the important organs, but it creates
a length in loin, not visible when looking at profile. I feel this creates a weakness in
top line and the strength in rear propulsion is lost, causing loss of balanced
movement. Secondly also movement related, short steep upper arms, whilst this
can look “showy” giving height at wither, it loses forward drive. So in all I feel
movement is an area to keep an eye on, construction is vital for a well balanced
dog.
