Critique
Naturally I was delighted to accept to judge this breed as it is one of my favourites. There were a flattering number of entries and very few absentees. I was surprised at how many of the exhibits goose stepped and I did my best to not reward them where it was possible. I feel this is a very normal moving breed and they certainly should not do this, in most cases poor fro
nt construction went along with the movement fault. There were a few instances of incorrect dentition and the same decisions applied. Overall the temperaments were good and every exhibit moved soundly. VD (3) 1 Wright's Ch Minigardens Emil Lovely Boy (Imp). 10 years pale cream with a quality harsh coat. Well proportioned in head with good eyes. Mouth beginning to show his age. Well off for neck, long well sprung ribbing and short coupled. Nice legs and feet and high set tail. Moved very well indeed. 2 Halligan's Nardik New Moon At Icabel JW ShCM. 7 years fawn in good jacket. Very typical in head with neat ears, clean eyes and perfect bite. Would like more length to his ribcage but looks the part, level topline and tight tail. Good on the move. 3 Beck's Nardik Tiger Woods.
PD (3) 1 Rogerson's Nosregor Willhe Doo. At 11 months he is nicely matured in coat and has a very appealing head with darkest of eyes and neat well set ears. Nice ribbing, high set tail and standing up on true firm pasterns. Moved really well, just wonder if he is going to be a bit fine when he becomes a mature male. BP. 2 Allison's Oberitz Happy As Larry. Jet black of 8 months whose full coat will come in time. Very immature but has a nice head of correct type. Well ribbed and level in topline. I would prefer a higher tailset. Somewhat loose in front but ok rear action, I hope he will tighten up as he matures. 3 Hill's Fernando Z Temnych Noci At Cyfelin (Imp Cze).
JD (4) 1 Chambers' Musique Quilo. At 15 months this one impresses for his quality jacket, beautifully presented. Loved his head with good muzzle to skull relationship, correct stop, dark eyes, good pigment, may just have a slightly bigger ear than is ideal. Well proportioned in body with good level topline and great tailset. Far and away the best mover in this class. 2 Dyer & Orr's Musique Wishful Thinking JW. Brother to the winner and from a similar mould, well up to size. Liked the head type with toning pigment to go with his quality brown coat. Nicely boned but I would like better round shaped feet. Body of correct length and high set tail but I could not make him level on the table, he has time to come up at the rear to sort this I hope. Moved reasonably well. 3 Mole's Bob The Soldier At Molead.
PGD (3, 1) 1 Sutherland's Chilite Chogan. Two that are identically bred though different litters. Have the same style. This one is jet black and very compact with a lovely head, good muzzle and skull and darkest of eyes. Pleasing shoulders and good ribbing with a very tightly held tail. Accurate hind action. 2 Mole's Chilite Pima Indian. Very similar in head to one but bigger in ear. Glamorous gold/white parti jacket of thickness and depth. Not of great stature and has rather oval feet but a great deal to like about him.
LD (8, 1) 1 Lewis' Indizak Hakuna Matata At Louchelle ShCM. Topped a strong class and it was his birthday! In beautifully presented coat. Very typical in head with lovely eye colour and good bite. Pleasing skull and good neck. Beautifully made from front to rear, level topline, tight tail and standing on super legs and feet. Moved correctly in both directions. 2 Moir's Jansanleis Loud 'N' Proud. Very attractive cream which I found just a bit feminine in outlook but he is quality all through. Stylish, in good coat and shows beautifully. Nicely made throughout and another good mover. 3 Trendle's Lusam Cheeky Boy.
OD (16, 4) 1 Pearce & Francis' Ch Longsdale's Willie Win JW. It is four years since I gave this exhibit a CC and he could still top this great class with some to spare. There was huge variation of type presented here and some I felt would have easily graced the Toy rings instead of fitting in this class. This dog has good attributes throughout, he could have a smaller ear and slightly less rear angulation but his merits and true breed type easily outweigh this. He is in lovely coat, beautifully presented, his outline is very good with well carried typical head, enough neck, short compact body and high set tail. He is correct in front angulation and stands on four perfect legs and tight feet, good depth and spring of rib give him a shapely body and he moves really true in both directions, just a shade close behind but many good movers do that. My choice for the CC but his kennel mate surpassed him to win BOB. 2 Pearce, Francis & Willi's Ch Longsdale's Let's Go Trebettyn. Certainly not disgraced to be second here, out of the same dam as the winner and has the same style about him. Many of the same comments apply to him but he does stand over a bit more ground and is not quite as well up on his pasterns. The coat he had was well presented and he stands foursquare with the highest of tailsets so has to be looked at, he also moved beautifully. Res CC. 3 Dyer's Ch Oberitz Curiousity At Javarm.
VB (3, 1) 1 Kettle White's Lusam Spic N Span. At nine years old she is coming into a lovely black and tan coat. Very typical in head with strength of skull and nice muzzle shape, full dentition and clear eyes. Nicely constructed from front to rear and moved very well indeed. A credit to her owners. 2 Trencle's Ch Luxam Parti Popper ShCM. Already 12 years old and dam of the winner, has similar virtues but she came in black and white glamour instead. Passed on her good construction and typical action to her daughter.
PB (5) 1 Corr's Crystal CLear Agnus Brown. At almost nine months old this one is displaying really nice quality. Rich brown jacket in good condition, pleasing in head with the toning pigmentation that makes this colour very appealing. Balanced with good arch to neck, level topline and well carried tail. Very nice bone and tight cat like feet. Good forequarters and a decent angulated rear to match with a well developed body. Very nice on the move. 2 Bradbury's Wychlea Purple Image. This nicely made black is just a couple of weeks older and has many of the same virtues. I liked her head, darkest of eyes and good bite. Adequate bone and nice shapely feet. Pleasing tail set. Somewhat erratic on the move. 3 Allison's Oberitz Happy Ever After.
JB (4) 1 West's Ravasgang's Be Miss Fancy JW (ATC AU02560FIN). This sable appealed immediately, very sweet expressive head with enough skull and nice shapely muzzle. Dark eyes and I forgave her slight snownose, seeing where she comes from I am not atall surprised. Well constructed compact body with good ribbing and nicely boned for and aft. Moved well in both directions. 2 Bradbury's Wychlea In The Purple. Jet black sister to the second in the previous class. Pleasing in head with good skull and nice muzzle shape, dark eyes and well set ears. Well made in front and decent ribcage. High set tail but is a shade longer than the winner. I was not too happy with her hind movement but she persisted in pulling sideways which was not helping her progress. 3 Thomas & Welch's Key To Endless The Small Step From Indizak (Imp BLG).
PGB (6, 3) 1 Shepherd & MacBain's Fecimus The Good Fairy. Sable in almost a full coat. I liked her head proportions but felt she needs to fill out a bit more and as she is 20 months I wonder if she is going to. Well made throughout and has a very high set tail. Her action was good in both directions. 2 Kettle White's Jayfeather Partilight. Blk/Wht Particolour who was rather out of coat. Well up to size and balanced in outline but as she is a bit straight in stifle she moved in a stilted fashion at the rear but still covered the ground stylishly. Pleasing head type with good skull and lovely dark eyes, well set ears and good neck. Pleasing body proportions and very high set tail. 3 Macpherson's Wildandfree Lady Margareth At Kismet.
LB (6) 1 Baker's Clarmers Ruby Red. I was really impressed with this brown girl, my notes say; everything right. She has a typy head with good muzzle to skull proportions and good pigmentation appropriate for her colour, neat well set ears and a nice reach of neck. Well constructed in front with decent ribbing and good topline and tailset. Well boned legs and neat feet and moved true in both directions. Excellent coat quality. Res CC. 2 Williams' Seirian Skyfall. Another quality exhibit with good head and expression, pleasing in skull and neat ears. Nicely presented and on the move she also gave good account of herself. Sound all round. 3 Beck's Holbain Honey Bunny.
OB (9) 1 Pearce & Francis' Ch Longdale's Jen You Win JW ShCM. It was no surprise to me to see her here, I gave her a CC very early on in her career and I just love her. She is also from the same dam as the Open dog class winners, what a great asset this bitch has been for the kennel, producing the goods to different sires. Today Jem was in immaculate condition with a truly offstanding harsh coat of correct length to not hide her lovely outline. She has a head of perfect proportions and holds herself correctly at all times, head up on just enough neck, short in back and showing enough body depth to leg length. Well ribbed, short coupled and with a high set tail she just has to move right and so provide an exhibit you cannot deny top honours. My CC and BOB and I understand she broke the breed record today, this was held, I believe by Fritzi belonging to Julie and Janet, I dog I knew really well. I was so pleased to see Jen was shortlisted in the Group. 2 Quinn, Francis & Pearce's Ir Ch Longsdale Leave A Little Luv. Orange sable of lovely type, similar to the first in many respects. She has a lovely head and expression, excellent pigmentation and well placed ears. Well made in front with nice angulation and well sprung in ribcage. Short in back and has an excellent tail. In super coat condition and when she moved she was true in both directions. 3 Trendle's Lusam Toodle Pip.
GCB (5) 1 Trendle's Lusam Toodle Pip. She was not disgraced when 3rd in Open. Lovely sable jacket of correct length and texture. Excellent pigmentation and classic head type. Great shape and style with high set tail and correct outline. Moved beautifully. 2 Mellor's Nirvarna Sunset At Bellapip. B/w in lovely jacket and beautifully presented. Good head with flat skull and well shaped muzzle, good expression and darkest of eyes. Good in front, short and compact in body, good topline and tail and moved ok. 3 Kettle White's Lusam Spic N Span.
