I would like to thank all at Paignton for asking me to judge and for the lovely stewards that you provided who made the day run smoothly.

I did observed inconsistency in breed standard and hope the breed can regain its merits this seems to be a bigger issue in the Klein then in the Mittel. I was however happy to see the temperament of most was not lost and in true German Spitz fashion had me smiling from ear to ear making them a pleasure to judge.

Class 983 PGD/B

(1)    Mrs V Dyer’s, Longsdales Knightshade at Javarm, 20months Black Dog, Nice flat skull with good ears would have preferred then a tad smaller, good angles and proportions thought out, would benefit from maturity and a bit more substance. Lovely attitude and a friendly little chappie. (2) Mrs C & Miss M Agar’s, Musique Crème De La Crème, Cream Bitch rising 3years, I really enjoyed this dog and her true spitz temperament showed through, well handled by her owner despite her best attempts to bounce, bark and ping, which is part of the joy in this breed and always a hit with me. Unfortunately lacking in coat and substance, but with good dark eye and pigment and a balanced head and body Proportions, though verging on a little tall and narrow, On the day 1 had the better front and movement.

Class 984 Yearling D/B

(1)    Mrs V Dyer’s, Longsdales Knightshade at Javarm, winner of Class 983 and RBD

Class 985 Open Dog

(1)    Mrs J. Chambers, Musique Born Legacy, White Dog rising 3 years, also my BD and BOB,

Lovely dark pigment and eye, neat ears, correct head shaped and proportions but would have liked a touch bigger, he was lovely to go over, and you can then really appreciate the bone, substance and angulation of this dog, good tail set and a nice 4 square stand, he has a lovely texture and density to his coat to nit-pick he is full up on coat and I’d not want anymore but not over the top. Finished off with a cheeky glint in his eye and very happy to be out and about (2) Mrs K. Bayliss, Kysiena Chant of The Dream At Karmajen, Cream and White, 5yr old, Lacked confidence which made his eye look round, head could do with being a slight bit broader, ears correct shape and set on well, decent bone, and a nice size. His dropped tail made him appear longer, but it was set on well, good coat length, texture and density, would benefit from muscle tone, which would give him more drive and level top on the move. Very sweet boy that unfortunately didn’t do himself justice on the day.

Class 986 Open Bitch

(1)    Mrs J. Chamber, Mamamas Made With Pride Imp. Swe) White Bitch, 5yrs. Also, BB. Lovely Feminine head of good proportions and correct ears with beautiful dark eyes and pigment, good angles and proportions throughout, tail set well, coat of good texture, length and density. Would have proffered a straighter front but moved well, slightly narrow on the move from behind, A happy, well-behaved lady, that I now believe to be mother of my BOB and shared many of her virtues.
