GERMAN SPITZ - KLEIN

It was interesting judging the breed today after 2 years of covid restrictions where some exhibtors have ceased breeding or decided not to continue showing. This means show entries in many breeds, not just this breed, have currently decreased alarmingly. The cost of fuel and other household expenses have also had an effect. The dogs we now see in the ring are not facing so much competition; but more worrying is the lack of young stock in the early classes. Heads are still a problem with short muzzles, some also having deep stops, where standard calls for moderate. Movement was difficult to assess today as some, more than others, seem to be affected by the length of the grass. There was high stepping, wide or narrow front movement and the same at the back. The standard calls for movement without exaggeration, effortless, brisk action, retaining topline. It was nice to see that my major winners did fufil this requirement.
SPD (1) 1 Moore’s Pommary Mark My Word. Shaded sable in full coat. Little short in muzzle with slight tear staining. Correct small ears. Good body well put together. Little wide at the rear and front movement rather busy.
MPD (2) 1 Chambers’ Bemojo Pearls Of Wisdom At Musique. 7 month old white dog in excellent coat and presentation. Beautifully balanced in outline when standing unfortunately on easy to handle on the table. Balanced in head but tear staining slightly spoiled overall expression. Movement very eratic and still needs to settle. 2 Godridge’s Isilme No Rupoligies. Very immature black baby pushing the measure but a lot to like about him. Looks leggy at present as he needs a coat to complete the picture. Well put together. Movement like the winner very difficult to assess as it still needs to settle.
PD 1 Pearce & Francis’ Longsdale’s Cesar Chance. BPD. BPIB. 10 month old sable out of coat at the moment so hiding nothing. A little steep in upper arm and shoulder. Square in outline with well carried tail. Balanced in head with lovely dark eye. Stands well. Wanted to play on the move and high stepping in the front.
LD (3) 1 Davies, Peck & Bradbury’s Wychlea Percy Vehere. DCC. Black dog well put together balanced in outline and head pattern though I would prefer a darker eye. Correctly placed eye and ears. Good bone. Level back. Well set and carried tail. When settled excellent on the move. 2 Pearce & Francis’ Longsdales Pillow Talk. Another black slightly finer in type. Square in outline. Correct head with lovely dark well placed eye. Would prefer slightly more front angulation; but very nice dog to go over, and steady on the move. 3 Moore’s Pommary Let Rumour Begin.
OD (6) 1 Grayer’s Ch Radajasa’s Henri Fiocca At Delgray. RDCC. Very glamorous fully coated white. Presented to prefection. Square in outline stood steadily with beautiful straight rear hocks. I would prefer a slightly longer muzzle but otherwise a lovely head and expression. Needs to be handled to feel the neck and body under the profuse stand off coat. Sound on the move. 2 Rogerson’s Ch Nosregor Willhe Surprise Ya. Well presented masculine black in full coat. Lovely head pattern of correct proportions. Well put together with level topline and correct tail set. Just preferred the movement of the winner. 3 Jackson & Minshall’s Ch Perrymere Just Bertie.
MPB (1) 1 Godridge’s Isilme La La Vhoom. BPB. Litter sister to the Minor Puppy and with the same size issue. However, a very pretty youngster with lovely head and expression. Well constructed fore and aft. Good muscletone for a baby. Slightly long in back. A nice bitch who moved steadily around the ring.
PGB (1) 1 Andrew’s Claran Black Diamond. Feminine 2 year old. Correct head pattern with lovely expression. Beautiful dark eye and well placed ears. Well put together with good spring of ribs and level topline. Neat cat feet. When settled on the grass moved easily around the ring.
LB (2) 1 Pierce & Francis’ Orku Harmione Granger With Longsdale (Imp ISL). RBCC. Quality fully coated feminine bitch with correct head pattern, lovely dark well placed eye with neat ears. Correct in outline and balance. Correct neat cat feet. Well carried tail. Sound on the move. 2 Moon’s Galvizach Ellexia For Hollirox. Another quality bitch unfortunately carrying a little too much weight today. Full coat, well presented. Moved well in all directions.
OB (5,1) 1 Pearce & Francis’s Ch Longsdale’s Dilemma. BCC. BOB. Glamorous black feminine bitch on her toes today. Sound throughout. Correct head pattern and expression. Balanced throughout with correct front and hind angulation. Neat feet. Free mover. Difficult to believe she is now seven. Excellent presentation in full coat. 2 Hall’s Nardik Inky Dinky Doo. Brown/white parti carrying a big coat needs to be handled to feel her construction. The heavy coat does not make it easy to see and appreciate her neat ears. Well let down at hocks, neat feet. Free mover around the ring. 3 Bradbury & Serman’s Oberitz Topsy Turvey For Wychlea.
