Critique
Klein : I judged this breed at WELKS last year but due to the regrettable ill health of Mrs. Flavell, I was asked to substitute literally at the 11th hour.
PD (6/0) 1 Allison’s Oberitz the Woodsman, I hope he doesn’t grow much more but here he was the best shaped and bodied puppy on view. Huge coated, tail well set and carried and he is quite sound. Correct mouth, both testicles descended and temperamentally as steady as a rock Flattish skull, eyes a shade large for me but he is clean in cheek. 2 Parker’s Dunbrook Dun N Dusted well coated and presented black nearer to the size I would expect in a puppy. Skull needs to flatten a bit more, eyes a good size if slightly full, ears high set and again could be that tad smaller. However, he is short coupled with a good spring and depth of rib, a decent length of leg for his rib depth & the tail bang on top. Side action alright but he tends to bounce a bit when fore viewed. 3 Salisbury’s Teomakleins Go For Broke
JD (1) 1 Bennett’s Orion Red Skin Raider heavily coated café au lait which I see is a son of the BOB winner. He is out a heavier mould, goes under the measure well, well balanced head, good eye shape and neat ears. Bit upright in shoulder, has a decent forechest, straight forelimbs well sprung ribcage and he is fairly compact. Disappointed on the move. Viewed in profile he is somewhat restricted in forward reach though perfectly true going away.
PGD (4/2) 1 Warriner’s Timberwolf Jumping Jack sturdily made all through with a good flat skull, well defined stop, nice muzzle finish and a good mouth. Really good spring and depth of rib, short in loin and he has strong hindquarters. Like a number of others I judged on the day I feel he could have a longer upper arm which would allow greater forward reach. In excellent coat and well presented. 2 Holmes’ Holbain Shimer that tad smaller and in truth nearer overall to the proportions I like. Good head proportions, skull not as flat as the winners but he has good eyes and ears. Little neck, bit lacking in shoulder angulation, well sprung ribcage, lovely weight of bone, good feet and in excellent bloom. Regrettably, his heart just was not in it and he moved poking his head out and stepping short which eased the winner’s path.
LD ((7) 1 Naylor’s Terendak Bubble Top a lovely quality cream which should get to the top. Lovely headed, beautiful eyes and expression, compact body shape with just enough neck, firm backline and perfectly set and carried tail. He has that look alive expression which demands attention and moved out soundly though not with the forward reach of those above him in the challenge. Nonetheless he is a classy dog. 2 Parden’s Limburg City Slicker at Dunbrook if there had been an award for immaculate presentation, this handsome black and white would have been a strong contender. Lovely size and body lines, standing foursquare on good legs & feet and moves so well. Head is so good, the skull fairly flat, a good stop, clean in cheek and neat ears. Eyes not quite the shape of the winner’s which enabled me to split to very good dogs. 3 Chambers’ Nosregor Hot Shot for Musique
OD (4/1) 1 CC & BOB Wright’s Ch. Orion Mirror Image, my BOB from WELKS and I could find nothing to lower his colours today. When he and the best bitch went round the ring I hoped those watching could appreciate how a German Spitz CAN move! 2 & Res.CC Dickinson, Taylor & Ventura’s Ch. Terendak Bubble Baileys another top quality male Klein and easy to see why he wears his crown. Oozes class. Has quality in head, is so well proportioned and balanced, immaculate in body condition and coat, tail bang on top and he is such a showman. He too can move showing that brisk, light step which today was hard to find. 3 Trendle’s Lusam Charlie Dobby
PB (10) 1 & BPIB Taylor & Bonsor’s pretty ivory coloured little madam with all the self assurance in the world and so well schooled both on the table and when moving. Never put a foot wrong and deserved her top spot. I see she too is by the BOB winner and I’m sure with maturity she will have an exciting career. She is such a lovely shape, little neck, solid body, high set tail and such an even, effortless action which just confirms her good basic construction. Skull flattening well, nice eyes and ears and in good coat. 2 Andrews’ Roydenzone Roxanne from Runfold black and again lots to like. Good size, fairly compact in body with a nice spring to her ribcage. Head a wedge, good stop definition, well shaped, dark eyes and neat ears. Hocks a little long for me and as yet she has not got the co-ordination in side action of the winner. In good coat. 3 Salisbury’s Teomakleins Rustic Dude
JB (5/2) 1 Storm’s Stormavon Spirit in the Sky, not in full coat but this cream stood away in this and the next class. Again by the BOB winner and she has inherited much of his lovely type. Size a delight, good bone, legs and feet, well sprung ribs, firm well muscled hindquarters and correctly set & carried tail. A bit upright in front so steps a little short. I liked her head properties, especially her eyes and expression. When in full bloom can trouble the best. 2 Reynold’s Biddle Flashing It About black and white out of a bigger mould but easily under the measure. Lacks a little composure on the table so had that worried look rather the air of anticipation and impudence I like to see. In super coat which was spotlessly presented, she came into her own on the move, free striding and using her hocks so well. If she can project herself more confidently can do well. 3 Avent’s Lusams Little Sprite
PGB (7) 1 S. Spirit in the Sky 2 Parden’s Dunbrook Bedazzled heavily coated blue fawn which scores in body shape, rib development, fore chest and length/height proportions. Skull not quite as flat as the first, lovely eyes for shape and colour (not always the easiest with this colour) ears could perhaps be that little bit neater, but she has that impish expression nonetheless. Moved out so soundly, keeping her shape. 3 Metcalfe’ Rimazet Co Co Chanel at Flatem
LB (8/2) 1 & CC Furber’s Holbain Heaven Sent, white and black presented at just about the peak of her form. In stunning coat and condition, sound as they come when viewed from the back, front or in profile. She owns a good head, well proportioned with level eye size, shape and colour. Strongly made in body, well weighted bone and lovely feet. On the move she cannot fail to impress, so balanced and showing real lightness of foot. I believe her 2nd CC and the 3rd should come her way soon. 2 Allison’s Holbain Cinders wonderfully coated black which handles well on the table then disappointed me moving as in profile she drops her head and runs rump high. Lovely size and weight on bone, neat feet, well sprung ribcage and overall shape is so compact. Pleasing head, skull could be that fraction flatter but the stop and foreface are correct. 3 Pardon’s Dunbrook Abracadabra
OB (9/2) 1 & Res.CC Dickinson, Taylor, Ventura & Robinson’s Terendak Bubble Cream via Polielin & 2 Cook’s Ch. Chilite Charisma Goldritz. Two lovely quality creams which I found so very similar in type, size, make and shape. Both spotless in coat and showing with 100% endeavour. I would not have been surprised to see they were litter sisters, such was the similarity. They ooze good breed type, have style, shape, good heads and expressions and are the size and quality the breed needs. Delighted to learn later that the winner has already been made up. In splitting these two quality bitches, I felt the winner just that bit better in shoulder and front action, but I had to nit pick to separate them. A delight to judge. 3 Furber’s Ir.Ch. Holbain Snow Fox.
