KLEIN

I thoroughly enjoyed judging this most delightful breed. The only downside was the excessively noisy area that we were housed in, but the German Spitz were unperturbed, and showed well. Awarding the CCs and the BOB was far from easy, as I was presented with some outstanding dogs to assess. When dogs are so close to the demands of the standards, one has to split hairs to decide which should take the top spot, and even then, on a different day, I may well place them differently. I thank all the exhibitors for trusting me to pass an honest assessment of their valued dogs.

PD 1 Bradbury’s Wychlea Trikor Treat. A very nice black dog, of good type. Sound and well muscled that was more obvious when on the move, showing power  with good reach. Good neck line. Pleasing head and expression, nice tail set. Well presented and handled. Another quality dog from this kennel. 2 Furber’s Holbane Cheeky Monkey Another nice youngster. Well up to size for age, Good  typical Spitz outline.  Nicely body development, making for a sound dog.  Good presentation.  Just felt that the winner was a little steadier in the ring.

PGD 1 Metcalf’s  Flactem Domino  A very pleasing Black and white dog. Went well under the measure. On examination showed a solid well built body, with ample muscle for his age. Nice Spitz head, giving a good expression, would have preferred a slightly flatter skull. I liked his overall proportions. Move well coming and going, maintaining a good top line. In lovely coat. 2 Mole Molead Moon Beam A nice orange dog.  Well up on the measure. coat is in lovely condition, and of correct type. Pleasing head, with good eye and ear placement, alert expression. Well muscled body and  sound. Just a fraction long,  Moved very well with plenty of drive and reach.

LD 1 Hawker’s Chilite Smokin Joe A lovely cream dog, in full beautiful coat. Good head and alert expression, Good neck into well built shoulders. Good body, well developed, ample bone, pleasing outline.  Moved with purpose going and coming, keeping level topline. I would have liked the ears a little closer together, but this is minor point in an otherwise outstanding representative of the breed. 2 Naylor’s Terendak Bubble Top Another top drawer cream.  Lovely head , with correctly placed features giving that typical Spitz expression. Alert and attentive. Good well textured coat. Nicely built compact body, with good muscle tones and bone. Gave way to the first on lack of sufficient drive on the move. Nevertheless a quality dog.

OD 1 Chamber  Nosregor Hot Shot for Musique Sh.Cm. This brown dog shouted quality from his beautiful coat, his correct silhouette, and typical Spitz appearance. Lovely well designed head with ears, eyes, and muzzle all contributing to the required expression. Nice flow of the neck into the good shoulder placement. Compact body, sound in every way. Moved with drive and reach with a level topline. Beautifully presented and handled  CC and BOB. 2 Highmore’s Ch. Kartmel Legolas. Another outstanding dog that I have long admired. A lovely black dog in full lustrous coat. A very pleasing head, giving that so typical German Spitz expression. Well carried head, nice shoulders and strong compact body. A very all-round sound dog. He drove the first hard for the award, but the deciding factor was the overall ring presence of the winner – that is splitting hairs between two outstanding German Spitz. Res CC.

VD 1 Hawker’s Ch Chilite Navajo. What a marvellous  ten and a half year old dog this is. It has quality stamped all over it.  In outstanding coat and general condition, it did not put a foot wrong. the owner is to be congratulated on maintaining this dog in such a near perfect shape.

PB 1 Wright & Storm’s Orion Absolutely Fabulous. If ever a dog loves up to its name, this young lady does. A pale cream, compact, solid, sound, in every quarter. Lovely head and alert expression. Nice arch of neck into good body, giving a lovely outline. A brisk movement with great forward drive.  Another great exhibit from this kennel Res CC. 2 Pideon Stonelight Eleisha. Another lovely cream. Good typy bitch with a well defined head, well placed ears and eye, to give required expression. Sound with nice compact body.  Good muscle tone considering age. Went well on the move. The first just edged out on overall type.

PGB 1 Furber  Here I Come for Holbain A beautiful black and white. The quality of the coat strikes one immediately, and this is backed up by a very sound compact body. The nice head well furnished with correct eye and ear placement, and this dog never stopped giving her full attention to the handler. Good proportions making for a lovely picture. Move with speed and drive. 2 Holmes’ Oberitz Fiery Fox A very nice no nonsense dog. Good type with the typical German Spitz silhouette. Pleasing head and lacked a little in expression. Sound compact body.  Moved well in both directions.  Not in her best bid and tucker.

LB 1 Dyer’s Wychlea The Dutchess  A lovely black. Really good head and expression. Pleasing arch and reach of neck into well balanced shoulders. Compact soundly built body. Nice muscle tone with ample bone. Presented in sparkling coat of good texture. Move with drive and reach in both directions. CC. 2 Hayward’s Don’t Look Now. A black and white Nice head although would have preferred a slightly flatter skull. However pleasing, attentive, expression. Good compact body, with correct overall proportions. Nice coat. Moved fairly well.

OB 1 Matcalfe Rimazet Co Co Chanel. A very alert brown bitch. Overall a typical German Spitz. A very sound dog. Compact and with pleasing proportions. Good head and expression. Moved well going and coming. Well presented and handled. 2 Storm & Wright Stormavon Silhouette My one disappointment of the day. This lovely cream bitch, so outstanding on the table would not be handled, so that I could not make a true assessment of her. On the lead, she moved correctly, and this indicated that she is a sound well constructed bitch. In beautiful coat. Although I could not fully assess her quality, she nevertheless deserved her second place.
