German Spitz - Klein
It was a pleasure to have so many dogs to go over. I was pleased with the general quality of the Mittels which appears much improved although of course we can never be complacent in a minority breed such as German Spitz. The Klein German Spitz however now seem to be occupying the problem position of lack of depth in quality that the Mittels suffered from. I was pleased with my major winners but there still seems to be too many small fine boned dogs and bitches often with almost hare feet rather than the correct cat feet. Some lack substance and appear slab sided as well as being long in back and weak in loin. The standard call for a compact short coupled dog with an almost square outline which has a short well-developed loin and is well ribbed up and rounded with profusion of coat not disguising any lack of substance and we must remember this when selecting our breeding stock or stud dog.
VD (1) 1 Holmes & Furber Holbain Star A Twinkling. Blue parti colour. Well constructed but light in substance. A little close in front and not keen to use his ears. Nice eye. Easy mover around the ring.
PD (5) 1 Morgan Dare To Dream of Ahlen (BP). Very showy youngster who must not grow on. Beautifully presented. Nice head & eye with neat well placed ears. Well balanced throughout with good tail set. Moved well round the ring but front movement needs to settle. 2 Davies Edburton Frisky Fox TAF. Very much a baby but so much to like. Well constructed with a good body. Lovely mouth. Neat well placed ears. Easy mover should do well in the future. 3 Andrew Porterble Sirius Black from Runfold.
JD (3,1) 1 Bradbury Wychlea Trikor Treat. Young black lacking coat on the day but nice in outline with well set tail correctly carried. Good head pattern. 2 Chambers Holbain Benny for Musique. Cream dog lacking his usual handler and so lacked any enthusiasm. In better coat than the winner. Good body but just preferred the winner’s lay back of shoulder. Good legs and feet.
PGD (2) 1 Hill Enzo Z Temnych Noci at Cyfelin (Cze Imp). Shaded masculine dog would just have preferred a slightly longer head overall especially foreface. Good harsh coat. Good pigment. Good body and construction. Moved well. 2 Trendle Lusam Crispin Blunt. Young black not in full coat. Nice head and expression. Neat well placed ears. Just tipped the measure. Neat feet, did not move quite as well at the front as the winner.
LD (3) 1 Stannard Lusam Davey Dingle at Ulmarra. A nice class, difficult to split the first two even though they were very different in type. First a shaded sable with lovely construction and movement. Neat ears and lovely dark eye. Well set tail. Neat feet.2 Penwarne Runfold Kestrel at Sheldamar. Lovely chocolate in good coat. Good head with correct bite. Well presented. Good mover. 3 Metcalfe Flactem Domino.
OD (7,1) 1 Palmer-Jones Ch. Stonelight Dashing Denzel (DCC)(BOB). Black dog lovely and balanced in outline. Lacking a little coat today. Nice head and expression with good well placed dark eye. Topline held on the move. Good coming & going. 2 Furber Oberitz Cozmopolitan at Holbain (RCC). Very sound cream dog with good head and expression. Correct harsh coat. Well constructed. Lovely mover. Just lacked animation in the challenge. 3 Allison Terelatim Windy Miller.
PB (5,1) 1 Bradbury Wychlea Marnie Brown (BPB). Brown bitch not the most glamorous of bitches but very nice to handle. Good head and eye with well rounded muzzle. Good bite. Well bodied with nice tail set. Correct angulation. Front movement still needs to settle. 2 Sheasby Baobab Gipsy In Black. Nice head and construction. Good in outline. Coat a little soft and wavy. Excellent pigmentation with very dark eye. 3 Thomas Gamegards Christmas Fairy.
JB (7,1) 1 Kimber & Bridgen Stonelight Electra. Well developed black. Excels in head and outline. Balanced throughout. Well set ears and tail carried well over black. Nice and short in loin. 2 Allison Oberitz Astrobee. Another black not so mature as winner and front still needs to settle. Nice to handle with good front and hind angulation with short loin. 3 Pidgeon Stonelight Eleisha. PGB (7,2) 1 Hill Edburton Llyngoes at Cyfelin. Shaded bitch lovely in outline and did not disappoint when handled. Well carried head and tail. Nice short back. Balanced throughout. 2 Serman Tymy Tymarekiya. Orange bitch longer in the loin than the winner and I would prefer a slightly larger head to complete the picture. Good mouth and nice pigment. 3 Morgan Lusam Love In The Mist.
LB (8) 1 Breen Kylecroft Symphony (RBCC). Reluctant today to give of her best but when she showed such a lovely head with true spitzy expression. A very sound honest bitch. Level topline. Balanced throughout with no exaggeration. 2 Trendle Lusam Super Spats. A lovely happy bitch moving very well around the ring. Nice in outline. Well set tail. Good in outline. 3 Kimber & Bridgen Stonelight Octavia.
OB (5,4) 1 Bradbury Ch Wychlea Aimy Vooh (BCC). Black in lovely coat and condition. Good head pattern with neat well placed ears. Good body with level topline and well carried tail. Good legs with neat feet. Moved with drive.
