Critique
Thank you to the society for the invitation, and to the exhibitors for making it such a pleasant and enjoyable day and providing me with some quality dogs to go over. I was delighted that both my BOBs placed in the group.
Disappointingly, the good entry was marred by a high number of absentees.
I was surprised at the number of dogs that swung the measure, perhaps a timely reminder of how quickly and easily size could become a problem if we do not continue to measure.
Klein
Junior (3/1)
1st Andrew's Porterble Sirius Black From Runfold.
14 month black male. Very nice youngster with an attractive head and expression, good eyes and neat ears used to advantage. Well constructed so presents a balanced outline. Movement was a little erratic and would benefit from more ring training, but showed a good side gait when settled. Not yet in full coat, and understandably at this age looked just a little immature in the challenge.
2nd Sheasby's Boabab Gipsy In Black
Post Graduate (4/3 abs)
1st Sheasby's Wychlea A La Creme
5 year old cream bitch who unfortunately had a fright as the class started so really didn't want to be here and refused to make the most of herself. Would prefer a flatter skull, and her unhappiness at being in the ring plus excess tear staining detracted further from her expression. She insisted on pacing, making movement difficult to assess. OK for size and coat.
Open (3/1 abs)
Very difficult decision between these 2 lovely dogs.
1st Dickinson's Wychlea Pickle + BOB + Group 3
Almost 4 year old black dog with a good head, eyes and neat ears, good length of neck into a well made and nicely proportioned body which is set on good straight legs. Like many, not in full coat but what was there was of good texture. Sadly doesn't do himself justice by appearing rather disinterested much of the time, but his squarer outline and sound, steady movement gave him the edge over another very nice dog who was just so full of himself and didn't settle on the move.
