Critique

Thanks to my efficient stewards for keeping things running smoothly and to the sporting exhibitors for a lovely entry.

My co-judge and I finished up with 2 very nice Best of Breeds for our BIS line-up and were in agreement on our placings. BIS/BVIS  was the Mittel, Ch Spellcast Talk To Me, a mature male in absolute top form, with RBIS going to the young Klein Wychlea Vixen In The Dark.
The referee was given the job of choosing BPIS and selected the Mittel Flamuna Arktouros.

I had some excellent quality to choose from which resulted in some very tough decisions. Size was an issue for some, a few with mouth faults and some that weren't too impressed about being there so these affected the placings of some otherwise nice dogs. Movement was also a bit erratic in places which made it difficult to assess on some.

Veteran Dog (5,2)
1st and 2nd both excellent dogs, very similar in type and both still in wonderful condition for age.
1st Chambers' Ch Nosregor Hot Shot For Musique
10yo brown presents a pleasing picture with an attractive, strong masculine head, with good eye and ear shape/placement giving a good expression. Correct body shape and proportions with good ribbing, balanced fore and rear angulation with well boned legs and neat feet all fit together in the right places. All finished off with a correctly set tail to give a typical outline. Enough coat of correct texture. Still very full of himself on the move but got his act together to demonstrate good movement in all directions. BVIB
2nd Highmoor's Ch Kartmel Legolas
11yo black and much the same comments as 1 for head and construction, and he too still moves well. Presented in full coat of excellent texture and condition, would just prefer him to have a slightly darker eye and to be carrying a bit less weight.
3rd Trendle's Lusam Charlie Dobby

Junior Dog (4,0)
1st Dickinson's Wychelea Fox In the Mirror
17 months orange sable of medium strength and good size. Good head and expression, correct neck set onto good body with well sprung ribbing. Tail well set and carried. Good legs and feet but slightly steep in pasterns. Not yet in full coat but texture is good. Good side gait, OK away and back.
2nd Morgan's Ahlenagen's Fancy That
12 months cream and white parti of medium strength and substance. Attractive head with good eye shape and colour, good topline and tailset and well made body of correct proportions. Good legs and nice neat feet. Good coat of correct texture. Moved round well.
3rd Allison's Oberitz Thunderbird

Post Grad Dog (6,3)
1st Serman's Rochedo Bill The Badger By Tymy
21 months black and white parti with a typical, masculine head and correct expression. Good for size, substance and body shape/condition, though not yet back in full coat just yet which detracts slightly from his outline. Level topline and correctly set, well carried tail. I suspect he would benefit from being moved a bit quicker as I only saw very small bursts of what appeared to be very good movement in between him spending much of his time dawdling about and spinning round in circles.
2nd Dickinson's Paulgeo Abbots Boy
23 months wolf sable of good shape, size and substance. Nice type, with good head and alert expression. Shown in good coat and condition. Sound mover.
3rd Trendle's Lusam Neat N'Tidy

Limit Dog (4,2)
1st Allison's Oberitz Flashback
18 month old black with white chest. Medium strong, rangy young dog of good type, shape and proportions who still needs to fill out in rib. Lovely head with neat ears, good neck and topline. Good coat and OK for texture. Attending his first show and a little unsure at first, but soon got the hang of it and settled down to move OK.
2nd Serman's Wyndlee Twizzle Stick By Tymy
Black 2yo in full coat of correct texture. Smaller end of the size scale with enough bone for size but would like a stronger head and smaller, higher placed ears. Moved OK away and back but needs more forereach as he is prone to lifting his front legs slightly high when viewed from the side.

Open Dog (5,0) Quality class with some excellent dogs.
1st Bradbury's Ch Wychlea Ronday Vooh
5yo black presented in full coat and excellent condition. Very good head with correct eye shape, ears good shape and size though could possibly be carried a touch higher. Super type with the desired proportions, firm level topline and well carried highset tail giving  the correct square outline. Good front and rear assembly set on well-boned legs and tight correct feet. Moved very well to win this strong class and Best Dog, but wasn't quite as co-ordinated and fluent in movement in the BOB challenge where his kennel mate showed him how it should be done.
2nd Morgan's Cyfelin Jack Frost At Ahlenagen
3yo black-masked cream sable also in full coat of excellent texture and condition. Not quite the head type of 1 and would prefer a bit less stop but scores in ear shape and size, good dark eye and pigment. Deceptive coat as he is very correct medium size with matching substance, lovely proportions, correct topline and tailset. Front feet could be tighter. Another that came into his own on the move demonstrating a very good side gait. RBD
3rd Andrew's CH Porterble Sirius Black From Runfold

Veteran Bitch (3,2)
1st Trendle's Ch Lusam Beatty Romanze
14yo in good condition for her age. Feminine head, medium size and build, of decent proportions and shape. Losing coat but texture is good. Still has a very good side gait and could show a lot of the younger ones how it should be done.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2,0)
1st Dyer's Oberitz Sinful Delights At Javarm
6 months brown, coat just coming in and still very much looking her age. Feminine head, OK for eye though, at this stage without the coat her ears still look a touch large. Good for size and enough bone to match. Correct neck, topline and well carried tail. Would like her a bit squarer and her tendency at times to stand over-stretched doesn't help this. Another that could do with being moved that bit quicker as she never really got into her stride but hopefully this will come with practice. BPIB, RBPIS
2nd Tonks' Oberitz September Song
Litter sister to 1st and the same rich colour but still very immature next to her. Sweet, feminine head, and she has better ear size and body proportions than her sister but as yet is still a little fine and narrow all through. Still quite unsure about it all and movement was rather erratic.

Puppy Bitch (3,1)
1st Dyer's Oberitz Sinful Delights At Javarm
2nd Tonks' Oberitz September Song

Junior Bitch (5,1)
1st Godridge's Lusam Teazy Weazy
12 months dark cream with brown pigment. Lively and alert with strong head and good eyes but ears could be smaller. Good neck into correct topline with well set and carried tail. Coat of good texture and condition coming along nicely. Moved well away and back and also displayed a good positive side gait.
2nd Allison's Oberitz Firebee
12 months black of medium strong substance, in good coat and condition. Attractive feminine head with nice dark eyes, correct neck into well made body of good size and shape and set on good legs and feet. Moved well.
3rd Garwood's Buffmyster Bolaro

Post Grad Bitch (5,0)
1st Bradbury's Wychlea Vixen In The Dark
17.5 months black, ultra feminine bitch of medium strength and correct size in good coat of excellent texture. Appealing true spitz type head with lovely dark eyes and neat ears, good neck and strong level topline with high set tail. Would prefer slightly more slope to upper arm, but this didn't hold her back at all on the move and she produced an excellent gait in all directions which just got better and better the more she went round. Not yet quite the maturity against the Mittel male for BIS but I would expect her to have a bright future. BOB & RBIS
2nd Griffiths' Dunbrook Pink Fizz
4yo black, substantial bitch of top size with a nicely proportioned body under her correctly texture coat. Strong head, eyes dark, though slightly round and she could carry her ears to better advantage. Another that moved well showing a very good side gait.
3rd Trendle's Lusam Toodle Pip

Limit Bitch (5,1)
1st Hughes & Forrester's Tymy Quickstep To Candease
4yo black of lovely size and substance in excellent coat and condition. Strong feminine head with good eyes and expression, though ears could be a touch smaller. Well proportioned, firm body, correct tailset and finished off with strong straight legs with nice tight feet. Moved well retaining her topline, she also really got into her stride in the challenge to finish up RBOB & RBOS
2nd Allison's Oberitz Cocoa Bean
2yo brown, top size of medium strength. Pretty, feminine head with sweet expression though ears could be a fraction smaller to complete the picture. A bit lacking in coat today, but what she has is of good texture and an attractive rich colour. Very well made body of good proportions and well sprung ribs, level topline and tight, high-set tail. Moved soundly, holding her shape well.
3rd Wright's Chilite Lunar Moon

Open Bitch (4,1)
1st Morgan's Lusam Maybe Baby At Ahlenagen
4yo feminine cream sable, alert and lively and attentive to her handler. Medium strength and size shown in good body condition and full coat of correct texture. Pretty head, good eye and pigment, ears well set but could be just a shade smaller. Moves a bit wide away, correct coming towards but really scores in her brisk and efficient side gait which is a pleasure to watch.
2nd Garwood's Printzagems Tantalize
5yo black, medium strength and correct size, in good coat and condition. Nice overall shape and outline, head feminine and alert. Feet could be neater, sound and steady on the move.
3rd Chambers' Ch Printzagems Viva La Diva At Musique
