German Spitz Klein
I should like to thank all exhibitors for giving me such a lovely quality entry to judge, which made it a pleasure to do so. The one real annoyance was the deafening music from the activity ring, which was eventually turned down quite a lot & the continual use of the PA system, which again was very irritating to the dogs. I found the breed in good shape, one or two with rather watery eyes, but the only general comment I would like to make; is that many of the exhibits were being moved much too fast & as a result movement was going all over the place. With the current range of smart phones & tablets it is very easy to get a friend to take a video of an exhibit being put through its show paces & exhibitors can easily see the correct pace for their exhibit to be moved.
MPD (4,1a) 1 Thomas’ Danties Fox River from Indiak, adorable little cream sable baby of just six months. Lovely head & expression, beautifully made throughout giving a short back & compact outline, good bone & feet. High set tail moved briskly & with confidence. Hope he will grow on a little; 2 Kemp’s Yanlan Amoy, another promising puppy, with good skull balance, dark eye & pleasing expression. Good shoulder placement, spring of rib & well set tail. Finer boned than 1 & movement was unsettled due to change of handler & the deafening music; 3 Francis, Pearce & Williams’ Longsdale’s Parti Politics at Trebettyn. PD (3) 1 Pearce & Francis’ Longdale’s Woody Win, beautiful little chocolate pup, lovely head balance & super dark eye & neat well placed ears. Good reach of neck, leading into well constructed body, with plenty of substance. Neat feet & high set tail completed a pleasing picture. Extremely well trained & handled making the most of himself on the move; 2 Norkett’s Applebanks Goldfinger, o/s. Nice masculine head & gentle expression, good eye & correct mouth. Longer cast than 1, but full coat of good texture, minimised this. High set tail, good bone, but rather unsettled on the move; 3 Kemp’s Yanlan Spill The Beans. JD (2) 1 Francis, Pearce & Williams’ Longsdale’s Lets Go Trebettyn. Now this boy will trouble the best when he gets his act together. Well balanced head with dark oblique eye, well placed ears & alert expression. Nicely constructed body of substance, good length of leg & tight feet, presented a lovely compact profile when standing. I thought I had my RCC winner here, but in the final challenge he was moved too fast & sadly his front came, unglued; 2 Halligan’s Nardik Eclipse, a nice little chocolate soldier, who put in a good performance. Pleasing head, with neat ears & dark eye. Good shoulder placement, but could be a little shorter coupled. Carrying enough weight & needs to settle on the move & work with his handler. PGD (4,1) 1 Jackson, Minshall & Holbain’s Just Like Bill, such a pity that this lovely cream boy would rather have been anywhere except in my ring. Correctly balanced head, with dark eye & good mouth. Well laid shoulder, giving good neck & spring of rib, firm bone, good angulation & neat feet. Moved well & would have looked a real picture with some animation; 2 Morgan’s Ahlenagens Fancy That, not such a balanced head as some of my earlier exhibits, tending to be longer in muzzle, with larger ears & watery eyes. Nice reach of neck, longer coupled body of substance, good coat of correct texture. Longer in hock & moved rather close behind, but looked very nice when stacked; 3 Davies’ Edburton Braun Fox at Wychlea. LD (4) 1 Cook’s Goldritz Stole The Sun, this cream boy was every inch a real Spitz. Pleasing masculine head, with dark eye, alert expression & well placed & used ears. A little more layback on shoulder, would have given just a tad more reach of neck. Short back, well ribbed up body, of correct balance, with high set tail. Carrying a full coat in beautiful condition. Well trained & handled, moved freely, always at one with his handler. RCC; 2 Halligan’s Nardk New Moon at Icabel, similar type to 1, nice head & expression, correct mouth & high set small ears. Well constructed body, but longer cast than 1 & carrying enough weight. Profuse harsh coat, with high set tail, looked good when standing, but became rather unsteady on the move; 3 Serman’s Rochedo Bill The Badger by Tymy. OD (4) 1 Pearce & Francis’ Ch Longsdale’s Willie Win, charisma on four legs, what do I say about this lovely cream boy that hasn’t already been said? From the tip of his neat little nose to the end of his lovely high set tail he is the complete breed standard in the flesh. He just catches the eye & demands attention. Correctly balanced head, with dark eye & really alert expression. Good length of neck, running into deep, well sprung chest, short coupled body, of substance, with high set tail. Good legs, tight well padded feet & full jacket of correct texture, just adding the finishing touch. Moved & showed like a dream always, completely together with his handler. Delighted to make him CC, with BOB & to see him later add G4; 2 Norkett’s Applebanks Thrupence, pleasing head & expression with small ears. Nicely constructed throughout, though longer in back than one, but high set well plumed tail helped to offset this. Unsettled on the move & could have done so much better, if he had just put his mind to the job, in hand & had received more encouragement from his handler; 3 Shepherd’s Chilite Indian Chief. VD & GCD (0).
MPB (3,1) 1 Hill’s Cyfelin Solitaire, it is not very often that I say; ‘this one could have come home with me’, but indeed she could have done. Absolutely delightful little c/s baby, with a lovely head, sweet expression, cheeky dark eyes & neat well placed ears. Good lay of shoulder, giving plenty of neck & sturdy well sprung body, short coupled & with high set tail. Good bone & substance for age, nice legs & tight well-padded feet. Plenty of coat, of correct texture in top condition just finishing off the perfect picture. Moved steadily with confidence, straight & true both ends, always at one with her handler & I was pleased to award her RCC even at this young age, which I hope will be the first step on a sparkling show career; 2 Tonks’ Oberitz Happy Hour, pretty little bitch, much more immature than 1, needs to body up & grow a coat. Well made throughout with nicely balanced head & small ears. Unsteady on the move, she & her handler need to learn to work together. PB A. JB (5,2) 1 Eades’ Serian Skyfall, attractive well balanced head, with dark eye & correct mouth, but ears a little large at present. Well laid shoulder, short coupled body of substance with high set tail. Good length of leg & neat feet. Looked a picture when standing but unsettled & lacked confidence on the move which I am sure will come with experience; 2 Trendle’s Lusam Twinkling Star, this little girl lived up to her name & needs to settle to the job in hand. Pretty head, dark mischievous eyes & neat well placed ears. Good reach of neck, short back & high set tail, not in full coat which would help to offset longer hind pasterns. Needs to body up & settle on the move; 3 Yemm’s Seiran Mrs Brown. PGB (5,3) 1 Avery’s Aveka’s Estrellite, pretty little parti, lovely feminine head, dark eye & sweet expression. Good shoulder placement, deep well sprung ribcage, short coupled body with high set tail. Good length of leg with firm bone & tight feet. Full coat of good texture & clear colour. Moved well both ends, once she had settled; 2 Wright’s Chilite Indian Shadow, nicely balanced head, good eyes & well set ears. Rather upright in shoulder, well ribbed up body, short back, with highset tail. Profuse chocolate coat, of correct texture & good colour, which totally dominated the balance of her outline & made her look short on the leg. Let herself down on the move, as she seemed very disinterested in proceedings & lacked enthusiasm. LB (3) 1 Trendle’s Lusam Toodle Pip, eye catching little wolf sable with pretty head, expressive dark eye & ears used well. Good lay of shoulder, running into nicely sprung, short coupled body, with high set tail. Coat of correct texture & clear colour, but could have done with a little more of it. Moved well both ends & looked lovely in show stance; 2 Wright’s Chilite Lunar Moon, different type to 1, real feminine head, with alert expression & neat ears. Reasonable length of neck, running into well ribbed up body, longer in back but tail not carried really high. Profuse cream coat of good quality, but carrying too much weight & lacked the; Spitz sparkle. Well handled & moved steadily; 3 Eades’ Seirian Solitear. OB (6,4) 1 Hughes & Forrester’s Tymy Quickstep To Candease, when only 2 exhibits come into the ring, for what should have been a class of 6, a judge can be forgiven for feeling a little worried. However, the old maxim of, quality not quantity stayed true. What a superb example of the breed, my winner was, not glamorous or exaggerated in any way, just a really true example of what the breed should be. Pretty, well balanced head, with dark eye, neat well set ears, always used to full advantage. Good lay of shoulder, giving reach of neck, well sprung deep body of substance, short back & high set tail. Nice strong bone & tight feet. Good coat of rich black, gleaming with condition. Looked a picture standing, moved so soundly & always at one with her handler. Pleased to award her CC which I understand is her second; 2 Chambers’ Ch Printzagems Vive La Diva for Musique, feminine little black bitch, with typical head, nice expression, correct mouth & well set ears. Slightly shorter neck, but short back & high set tail gave a good outline when standing. Carrying enough weight which could account for lack of enthusiasm in proceedings. Well presented & handled but hind movement was rather stilted. VB & GCB (0).
