I would like to thank the committee of the Driffield Championship Show for inviting me to judge. Although the entry was small there were plenty of quality dogs to go over. The ring was not ideal. It comprised part under the tenting and part outside however the support structures of the tenting were across the ring and had draped between them the tent siding. There were small gaps either side of this but we were left with a small area under the tenting cut off from the remainder of the outside part of the ring. I would like to thank the exhibitors for their co-operation in switching between the two ring areas as meant that the dogs had plenty of room to move freely whilst allowing the spectators etc to then easily see the final placings.
MPD (3)1 Pearce & Francis' Longdale's Woody Win. Really nice brown. Well made with good rib and short loin giving correct proportions. Correct for size. Head handles well with good bite, neat ears and nice expression. Carrying good well fitting coat, moved and showed very well Best Puppy and RCC. 2 Norkett's Applebanks Goldfinger. 6 month cream who is also well put together with good bone and pleasing overall shape. Not quite the head of the winner and needs to tighten in front movement. 3 Halligan's Nardick Eclipse. Black with really good coat. Unfortunately had left his confidence at home today and therefore was difficult to fully assess so had to pay the price.
PGD (2) 1 Jackson,Winshall & Holbain's Just Like Bill. Cream who has a lovely head and expression with dark eye and well set neat ears. Good straight front, with level topline, short coupled body and high tail set giving nice shape. Moved soundly. 2 Dickinson's Wychlea Fox In The Mirror. Orange sable Another nice dog although of slightly heavier type. Pleasing head with correct mouth. Had left his coat at home today which gave the impression of being slightly longer in body but handles well. Standing a little wide at the back today.
LD (3,1) 1 Serman's Rochedo Bill The Badger By Tymy. B/W parti with masculine head, high set ears, solidly made, firm body with good front and rear. Well ribbed and compact giving pleasing outline. Somewhat distracted today but managed to pull himself together at the last minute to take the class. 2 Dickinson's Paulgeo Abbots Boy. Wolf sable. Soundly made frame though a tad longer cast than 1, level topline and nice high tail set. Well shaped head with broad skull, medium stop, nice expression. In very good coat. Another on his toes today.
OD (6,2) 1 Bradbury's Ch Wychlea Rhonday Vooh. Black of excellent type. Lovely wedge head of good proportions with super expression, neat ears and correct bite. Strong neck into well laid shoulders, well bodied short loin. Stylish mover. CC. In the final challenge just could not quite match the charisma of the Bitch BOS. 2 May's Ayupduck Bees Knees. Cream with really big coat. He has an appealing head with well shaped eyes and neat ears. Is good for size with sound bone and structure. Not quite the front of the winner. 3 Halligan's Nardick New Moon At Icabel.
PB (3) 1 Bradbury's Wychlea Certain Little Lady. Balanced black with pleasing outline. Good proportions with good bone and feet. Correct topline and tail set. Head developing well with good mouth and well set ears. Moved and showed well. 2 Serman's Wychlea Lady In The Mirror By Tymy. Another balanced Black who is Litter sister to 1 and very much alike. Just needs to fill a little more in foreface. 3 Tonks' Mr W Oberitz September Song. Brown with sweet head and expression. At the leggy stage so did not have the balance of those above.
LB (1) 1 Bradbury's Wychlea Vixen In The Dark. Neat black who moved very well. Pretty feminine head with dark oval eyes giving nice expression. Correct mouth. Compact in body with high set tail and balanced throughout. RCC.
OB (3,1) 1 Pearce & Francis' Ch Longsdale's Jen You Win JW Sh.CM. Delightful cream who I judged as a Junior. She has matured into a super example of the breed. Lovely head and melting expression. Very good body proportions with correct angulation which was reflected in her superb movement. Excellent coat presentation and texture. CC & BOB. 2 May's Ayupduck Queen Bee. Black of good overall make and shape. Sound well covered body although a little less angulated that 1 which was reflected in her shorter stride. Sweet head and expression. Well presented.
