It was a great honour to be asked to judge Kleins at the German Spitz Club’s 16th ch show at the Sport Connexion, Ryton on Dunsmore. There was an entry of 59 from 54 dogs with 10 absentees.

Mr Rodney Oldham judged Mittels & together we judged BIS, BP etc. BIS was the Mittel dog, Ch Spellcast Secrets And Lies, RBIS the Klein dog, Ch Minigarden Emil Lovely Boy; BOS Ch Nixtev Tantalize, a Mittel; BP Studholme Moon Orbit, another Mittel who had a marvellous day also winning the RCC. BV was the very fit Klein, Lusam Charlie Dobby, who at 15 years could hold his own with the best.

KLEINS – The Kleins were rather mixed in quality, type & size & it was impossible to get even line ups except in a couple of classes. Many failed in movement, some were too long in body & quite a few were shown overweight & in soft condition.

On the plus side coats, presentation & temperaments were good. There was a good atmosphere all round, everything was well organised & Mrs Celia Vines was my first class steward.

VD (1) 1 BVIS, Trendle’s Lusam Charlie Dobby, 15 years plus, amazing little cream, showed non stop & moved very well, well presented harsh jacket, excellent body, keen alert expression, high set tail, well proportioned. Great credit to his owner. MPD (3,1a) 1 BP, Beard’s Wyndlee Camenbear, my notes say 7 months but the catalogue says nearly 9 months. Composed choc with attractive head & expression, well balanced with good body & coat, high set tail, moved well, showy & cooperative. Promising; 2 Trendle’s Lusam Malarchy, 8 months cream, up to size, typical head, expressive eyes, masculine outlook, excellent feet, took a bit of time to settle on the move as he was rather full of himself. Good coat, confident showman, quite a character. PD (5,2) 1 W Camenbear; 2 Andrew & Moir’s Jansanleis He Rocks My Boat to Claran, 10½ months cream, pleasing head, keen intelligent expression, very showy, moved well in profile but could be a bit firmer in front movement, high set tail. Not in full coat; 3 Roberts’ Obertiz Vanadinite. PGD (4,1) 1 Williams, Francis & Pearce’s Longsdale’s Let’s Go Trebettyn, 18 months cream, smart young man with typical head, well set & carried ears, good coat & body, very showy & cooperative, handled to the very best advantage, clean & well presented. Comfortable winner; 2 Dickinson’s Wychlea Fox In The Mirror, 3 years o/s, most attractive head, steady showman, well coated, strong body. Failed in movement; 3 Bamford’s Applebanks Goldfinger at Hazdawn. LD (7,1) 1 RCC, Halligan’s Nardik Eclipse, 22 months black, well fitting coat, excellent silhouette which he kept going round. Quality head, good ear carriage & expression, very good overall proportions, consistent showman, clean & well turned out. Not 100 per cent up & down but still a strong contender; 2 Beck’s Nardik Tiger Woods, 4½ years black, turned out to be the sire of 1. Good outline, very good coat, masculine head, well conditioned. Movement could be a bit more coordinated; 3 Jackson & Minshall’s Holbain Just Like Bill. OD (8,3) 1 CC & BOB, Wright’s Ch Minigarden Emil Lovely Boy, 6½ years cream, good size & type, easy mover, switched on showman, pleasing head & expression, well proportioned & bodied, high set tail, very fit & well presented. He was in fuller coat when I gave him the CC at East of England ch show in 2011 but he still came out on top today; 2 Serman’s Rochedo Bill The Badger by Tymy, 3 years b/w, masculine head, lovely eyes, excellent coat texture, in good form, sturdy body. Up to size but well constructed, moved OK but short attention span; 3 Shepherd’s Chilite Indian Chief.

VB (1) 1 Trendle’s Ch Lusam Parti Popper, 8½ years b/w, clearly enjoying her moment in the ring, vivacious showgirl, compact body, pretty head, clean teeth, excellent coat & condition, moved well.MPB (2) 1 Beck’s Holbain Honey Bunny, 8 months, attractive head, already has quite a big coat, well set tail, fit body, moved & showed quite well. Needs to shorten up in body; 2 Jackson & Minshall’s Holbain Trik Of The Trade, 8 months, I preferred eyes & expression of 1. Good coat, moved OK. Not quite sure about it all today, dropped her tail & looked a bit sorry for herself. PB(4,1) 1 BPB, Griffiths’ Cyfelin Pease Blossom, 10 months black, gorgeous head & expression, clean coat, firm body, well proportioned. Could be a little more coordinated on the move. Showed well when something took her interest; 2 Williams’ Stormavon Silver Angel at Megahra, 10 months cream who failed in front movement. Showed well standing, ultra feminine head & outlook, good body, well handled; 3 H Trik Of The Trade. JB (5,2) 1 Tonks’ Oberitz Happy Hour, 17 months, sure footed black who gave 100 per cent. Good head, alert expression, excellent feet, compact body, plenty of coat, moved well behind but throwing one front leg today. Very well handled; 3 Williams’ Foxynose Zahra at Megahra. PGB (10,1) Good even class. 1 Trendle’s Lusam Twinkling Star, 2 years, daughter of the VB. Excellent outline & overall proportions, never stopped showing, quality head, very nice expression, good feet, high set tail, well presented coat. Just a bit high stepping in front movement; 2 Yemm’s Seivian Mrs Brown at Llanhari, this 2 years old chocolate was not far behind 1. Very good head, serious showgirl, compact body, moved & showed well. Good topline; 3 Serman’s Wychlea Lady In The Mirror by Tymy. LB (5,1) 1 RCC, Norkett’s Applebanks Florentine, 4 years cream, showy & eye catching. Impressed with her side gait which was really excellent. Pretty feminine head, bright intelligent expression, beautifully presented, high set tail; 2 Trendle’s Lusam Toodle Pip, 3 years, in colouring & markings resembled a Mini Keeshond. Preferred earset & carriage of 1. Dark eyes, most appealing bitch with charming personality. Excellent coat, at one with her handler on the move, well muscled, trotted her stuff with confidence; 3 Hamer’s Clarmers Diamond Bear. OB (3) 1 CC, Bradbury’s Ch Wychlea Vixen In The Dark, 3 years, typy black, in very good form, attractive head, good topline & quarters, well balanced, keen showgirl, firm body, well fitting jacket, moved & showed well. I believe this was her 6th CC, well done; 2 Tullis’ Radajasa Double Agent Wyx, 2 years white, well coated & proportioned, good bone, legs & feet, firm body, steady showgirl, moved OK, splendid coat; 3 Hamer’s Clarmers Caramel Surprise.
