It’s a few years since I judge the breed & I have to say they have improved remarkably & the breeders are to be congratulated for the strides they have made. Gone are the Pom heads, (mostly), rib length is much improved, squareness is back, eye shape has improved the most, I found very few round forward placed eyes I am happy to say. Temperament is outstanding & all in all I think the breed is in excellent shape if today’s exhibits are representative. I was delighted with the quality of my entry & my major winners were quite thrilling.

MPD (1) 1 Andrew’s Claran Kiwi, 8 months wolf/s, well up for size, scored in his good sturdy compact body & correct tail.

PD (2) A.

JD (2,1a) 1 Lewis’ Indizak Hakuna Matata at Louchelle, cr/s, 14 months, neat, square balanced little dog, correct tail & topline, neat feet good pigment & eye colour. Moved briskly & soundly.

PGD (3,1) 1 I Hakuna Matata at L; 2 Bamford’s Applebanks Goldfinger at Hazdawn, or/s, grand coat & condition, strong head, bit oversize for me.

LD (4,1) 1 Thomas’ Indizak Scarlett Feather, o/s, good for size, type & balance, correct ears, topline & tail, moved a bit wide in front; 2 Highmoor’s Printzagems Zak Icelett, white, bit oversize but balanced & square, lovely dark eye & expression, well off for bone & with correct tail placement & carriage; 3 Hawker’s Chilite Running Bear.

OD (6,1) 1 CC, Highmoor’s Ch Printzagems Verve, black of correct size & outline, just loved the overall balance of this dog, he is square, with the correct rib depth & length & nicely sloping shoulder angle, his head is so typical & just right, broad flat skull, good wedge shape & fab eye shape & colour. Level back & strong short loin, movement is quite effortless, so sound & light, really impressive dog; 2 RCC, Serman’s Rochedo Bill The Badger by Tymy, b/w, very handsome & very naughty, quality all through, balanced & sound with the correct rib & level topline & strong loin, he is in hard condition & if he had behaved would have pushed winner hard; 3 Jackson & Minshall’s Holbain Just Like Bill.

VD (1) 1 BV, Metcalfe’s Ch Flactem Domino, b/w, so sound & precise in his movement, with the best of shoulder placements. 10 years old & he can still move better than many of the younger dogs. Deep proper rib & good bone, neat cat feet, level back & short strong loin. Well placed & carried tail, such a pleasure to judge, amazing dog for his age, thank you for bringing him.

MPB (1) 1 BP, Deve & Andrew’s Claran Fern Valanchi, exquisite little black with a stunning head, eye & ear. Although a small package , she has it all, super little body, correct shoulder angle, deep lengthy rib, level topline & good tail placement, so sound & stylish for one so young. Must surely be a future star.

PB (1) 1 Norkett’s Applebanks April Showers, 11 months br/w of good size, shape & substance, sweet head & eye, very typical in outline & sound on the move, she just need more confidence, which I am sure will come with time.

JB (1) 1 Wiliams’ Stormavon Silverangel at Megahra, cream of 17 months, in lovely coat & condition with a pretty head, bit small & fine all through.

PGB (7,1) 1 Bamford’s Applebanks Skye At Midnight at Hazdawn , exquisite little black, really fell for her, so typical in outline, square & balanced with a lovely head shape, dark correctly shaped eyes & perfect ears. Sturdy body with good rib, topline & tail, sound & stylish on the move & just full of herself; 2 Godridge’s Lusam Teazy Weazy, gold of good size & shape, out of coat today but she is very sound & stylish, with a lovely head & eye, good bone & neat feet & the correct front angles; 3 Williams’ Foxy Nose Zahra at Megahra.

LB (3,1) 1 Serman’s Wychlea Lady In The Mirror by Tymy, black, correct size & shape, very lovely typical head & eye. Good neck & shoulders with good ear placement & carriage. Strong level back & correct tail, sound & precise on the move, in good hard condition; 2 Wright’s Chilite Lunar Moon, gold in fab coat & condition, mature in body with good bone & substance, just not so square in outline as 1. But very sound & stylish on the move.

OB (3,1) Both of these bitches were superb, quite a dream team to judge. 1 CC & BOB, Bradbury’s Ch Wychlea Vixen In The Dark, black, balanced & square with the most beautiful proportioned head, lovely flat skull, dark almond shaped eye, perfect earset, deep lengthy rib, strong bone & neat cat feet, level topline & short strong loin, beautifully carried tail, she moved like you want to see them all moving, free, easy, no exaggeration, quality all through, never let up showing, she is a delight to judge & must surely be one of the breed’s classic champions; 2 RCC, Pearce & Francis’ Ch Rimazet Serafino of Longsdale, brown of superb quality & balance, so lovely on the move, precise front action, free & easy, lovely head, eye & ear, great shoulders, level back & balanced tail. Neat feet & good bone. Pushed winner hard, another truly lovely bitch with great breed type.

VB (1) 1 Temple’s Rimazet Zephyr, black, 12 years old but still sound, good deep rib & strong topline. Was loving her day out & didn’t look her age at all.
