Critique
t had been many years since I last judged the breed at this level so it was really good to get the chance to go over some really nice dogs. As with the last time I judged, type is still a bit mixed but the breed has evolved and I found most of the dogs to be sound on the move and overall conformation was very good. Size too has improved and I did not find too many oversized dogs, most fitting neatly under the measure. Not all coats were at their best but I suspect that this is quite normal for the time of year. Hindquarters appear to be stronger than forequarters with a few moving wide in front.
JD (2) 1 Lewis' Indizak Hakuna Matata at Louchelle. A super quality youngster; good head shape with pleasant expression, good neck well set into shoulders. Good proportions throughout. Level top-line, which he held on the move; good tail set; in good coat. BD & BP. 2 Trendle's Lusam Malarchy. A different type to my class winner but a nice looking youngster nonetheless. Broad skull with moderate stop; good ear set. Although angulation was good throughout, he did not move as freely as my class winner today.
LD (1) 1 Trendle's Lusam Neat N'Tidy. A seven year old male, not in his best jacket on the day; good type; lovely head with intelligent expression; good length of body; Looking very square; well ribbed up; well set tail; moving well. RBD.
VD/B (1) 1 Trendle's Ch. Lusam Parti Popper ShCM. What a wonderful bitch; 9 years old and still in great condition. I fell for her the moment she walked into the ring. Good head with a broad skull; good eye shape and colour; small neat ears; good body shape being almost square in outline; moved well both coming and going; level topline, which was held on the move. Didn't put a foot wrong. BB. BOB.
GCDS (1) 1 Trendle's Lusam Toodle Pip. Stylish 4-year old bitch in good coat of good texture. Good neck and shoulders; nicely angulated front and back. Good pigmentation, Moved well coming and going.
JB (3,1) 1 Scott's Jayfeather Busy Bee. I loved the type of this bitch despite appearing to be a little tall. Such a good outline; lovely head and expression; strong shoulders and back for a youngster; well balanced and she moved well around the ring. 2 Scott's Lusam Oh So Bonny. Another good bitch of correct size. Good shoulders and standing nearly square. I found movement a little difficult to assess today but it wouldn't surprise me if the gales blowing through the tent might have unsettled her. I preferred the tail set of my class winner.
OB (2) 1 Chambers' Ch. Printzagems Viv la Diva. A bitch of good type and excellent quality throughout; moved really well around the ring. Good angulation of shoulders and hindquarters, good tail set and carriage, good top line and short coupled; not exaggerated in any way. I liked this one a lot. RBB. 2 Trendle's Lusam Toodle Pip.
