Critique
I would like to thank the exhibitors for bringing some quality dogs under me today, especially my major winners in both sizes. I have been very concerned during this year over the quality of some of the exhibits seen; but today no such serious concern. The bites of virtually all exhibits in both sizes were true scissor bites, & generally construction has much improved although bone in some in both sizes is too fine. Unfortunately what seems to have deteriorated even more is front movement. Legs are all over the place. It is no good breeding a “pretty standing” dog if it can’t move correctly. The breed standard calls for “moving without exaggeration from any angle. Viewed from the side, effortless, brisk action, retaining topline.”
MPD (2) 1 Wright’s Montblanc Bjorn Ironside at Orion, well coated brown. Good mouth. Well placed ears & correct eye. Nice bone, would prefer a slightly better upper arm. Good hind movement & side gait. Front needs to settle; 2 Beck’s Nardik Myla Xyloto, well made parti, sound construction both fore & aft but a little long in loin. Good had pattern. Moving a little close behind.
PD (3,1a) 1 Hughes & Forrester’s Indizak Shades Of Winter in Candease, sable in correct coat, well presented. Nice head, I would prefer slightly more filling under the eye but only a youngster at this time. Lovely bone with straight front & neat feet. Slightly over angulated at rear so can appear long, but handles well under examination. Very enthusiastic on the move so not always easy to assess. BP; 2 N Myla Xyloto.

PGD (1) 1 Pearce, Francis & Williams’ Longsdale Devil In Disguise with Trebettyn, cream in good coat & condition. Very balanced in outline. Good pigment. Well constructed with level topline & well carried tail. Slightly toeing in on one side at the rear when on the move.
LD (2,1) 1 Hull’s Wyndlee Cam En Bear with Clamer, brown in full harsh coat. I would prefer a slightly longer & stronger muzzle to complete the head but has good backskull. Well rounded body with moderate tuck-up at loin. Straight front legs with neat catlike feet. Well presented. Moved with drive. RCC.
OD (1) 1 Chambers’ Manzamas It’s Right It’s Wrong, mature cream dog, not nervous but very much over awed by his surroundings today as I think this is his first excursion into the British Ch scene. He possesses a lot of quality as there is a lot to like about him & he is very sound to go over. Good head & expression. Correct size with masculine outlook. Movement not settled today, but when relaxed stood foursquare.
VD (1) 1 Highmoor’s Ch Printzagems Verve, black in full heavy coat. Needs to be handled to find his lovely shape & construction as the heavy coat tends to distract from shape & outline. Good head with correct ear & eye. Has improved overall as aged. Moved well from the rear. CC.
MPB (3) 1 Tullis’ Radajasa’s Greta Zelle, very feminine parti. Excellent presentation. Well constructed & balanced throughout. Lovely head & expression with excellent pigment. Good body with straight front & neat feet. Well carried tail. Easy mover; 2 Hall’s Nardik Inky-Dinky-Do, br/w parti finer in head than winner. Needs more length & depth of muzzle. Good coat & condition. Well constructed with almost square outline. Finer in bone throughout; 3 Moxon’s Chilite Cochina at Thirldene.
PB (2) 1 N Inky-Dinky-Do; 2 Moxon’s Chilite Cochina at Thirldene, small 6 months parti. Fine but well put together. Little long in loin. OK on the move, enjoying her day out.
JB (2) 1 Mellor’s Nirvarna Sunset at Bellapip, b/w parti. Nice head & expression with well placed eye. Good coat, balanced in outline with well carried tail. Moved well; 2 Baker’s Clarmers Ruby Red, very well presented brown. Close up to winner but just preferred the better outline of the winner. Correct straight harsh coat. Good head with well placed ears. Well bodied up with good spring of rib.
PGB (2) 1 Beck’s Holbain Honey Bunny, well constructed parti, full coat but a little soft in texture. Front movement a little wide & unsettled; 2 Walker’s Kysiena River Dancer, very feminine well constructed b/w parti. Smaller, finer & longer in loin than the winner. Good coat. Lacking in hind muscle but sound on the move though slightly lacking drive.
LB (5) 1 Tullis’ Radajasa Double Agent Nyx, very glamorous mature bitch in excellent coat & condition. Balanced throughout with no exaggeration. Good head & expression with lovely dark pigment. Moved with drive from all angles. CC & BOB; 2 Francis, Pearce & Quinn’s Longsdale Leave A Little Luv, sable not in full coat today, but with nothing to disguise her lovely head & expression, her ideal size & balance throughout. Correct bone. Will trouble the best when in full coat. Excellent on the move; 3 Garwood’s Buffmyster Star Of The Show.
OB (2) 1 Allison’s Oberitz Firebee, feminine black with excellent head pattern so lacking in the breed today. Correct length of muzzle to back skull. Well placed dark eye. Good body well covered. Moved with drive from the rear. RCC.
