German Spitz Klein
Many thanks to all the exhibitors for an excellent entry numerically, type & size was very varied. I had a picture in my mind of my ideal dog. I re read the Standard to refresh my memory. It is very definite that the general appearance should be compact with an almost square outline, the skull nearly flat & the muzzle half the length of the head. Unfortunately I found a lot of short muzzles & domed skulls & the desired outline was hard to find in some classes. There was evidence of over trimming in some exhibits. This is not a trimmed breed only feet & hocks to be tidied. On the plus side I found all mouths to be correct & temperament excellent.
VD (4,1a) 1 Highmoor’s Ch Printzagems Verve, an excellent 7 year old dog black in tip top condition. Lovely size with just the right amount of bone. Presented the desired outline. Just a bit sluggish on the move; 2 Bradbury’s Ch Wychlea Rhonday Vooh, another quality dog presented in lovely condition. 9 years old, similar size & shape to my winner but tending to ‘toe in’ with his hind legs. Not the bone of my winner but preferred his eye shape; 3 Trendle’s Lusam Tuff Talkin’, a wonderful 14 year old wolf sable who decided he just didn’t want to join in today & just refused to put his tail up. However a credit to his owner it’s a shame he didn’t want to show himself off today. PD (3) 1 BP, Wright’s Montblanc Bjorn Ironside at Orion, lovely rich coloured chocolate dog. Well proportioned, neat ears, well placed tail, presented a good outline when standing. Would have liked a bit more substance, moved well enough, hope he’s finished growing; 2 Tullis & Barbour’s Radajasa’s Casanova, a nice looking parti, a shade long in the loin, great bone & substance, excellent head & eye, ears well placed another one who doesn’t need to grow anymore; 3 Beck’s Nardik Mylo Xyloto, b/w parti not at all settled so difficult to assess his movement, would like more length of neck to give the desired outline well up on size. JD (5) 1 Corr’s Crystalclear Special Kinda Love, another very nice choc dog who presented a good outline, excellent body proportions, well balanced head correct length of muzzle to skull, eye of good shape & colour, nice neat ears, lovely catlike feet which was missing in so many of the exhibits, moved briskly; 2 Bayliss’ Kysiena Chant Of The Dream, a very nice cr/parti who I liked a lot however he decided to play up in the line up, lovely bone, good eye shape, shame he played up as it was impossible to see his outline; 3 Mole’s Chilite Pima Indian, another parti who didn’t have the head proportions I was looking for, his ears were on the large side & his muzzle a bit short, however nicely marked, good coat & well set tail. PGD (4,1) 1 Moir’s Jansanleis Loud ‘N’ Proud, I liked this dog for his breed type, eyecatching pale cream, not yet in his best coat & needing to body up, however his skull & muzzle were the desired proportions, exquisite eye shape, lovely neat erect ears, good tailset retained his topline while on the move. Good prospect for the future; 2 Trendle’s Lusam Cheeky Boy, larger well boned cream, would have liked smaller ears & eyes more oval shaped, he did have the desired catlike feet; 3 Hayward’s Chilite Desert Fox, dark gold dog who was very full of himself so difficult to assess, needs more length of muzzle, moved reasonably well with good catlike feet. LD (7,1) 1 RCC, Dyer’s Oberitz Curiousity at Javarm, exquisite black dog of excellent proportions giving the desired outline, just the right amount of bone for his size, lovely brisk movement, very impressed with him & very pleased to award him the RCC; 2 Andrew & Moir’s Jansanleis He Rocks My Boat To Claran, gold of larger size who insisted on pulling on the lead so difficult to assess his front movement. Slightly longer cast than my winner & the head proportions not quite so balanced; 3 Anderson’s Kelmarin It’s A Wookiee at Georgeglen, a nicely proportioned choc dog whose front movement was erratic, a bit excitable which didn’t help, overall a nice type. OD (20,5) 1 CC, Pearce & Francis’ Ch Longsdale’s Willie Win, a stunning cream dog presented to perfection, exactly the outline I was looking for, beautifully balanced head with nothing exaggerated, well let down hocks giving effortless movement, totally at one with his handler, lovely dog in top class condition; 2 Corr’s Ir Ch Crystal Clear Dreamer, a nice choc displaying the desired almost square outline, finer boned than my winner with good head properties, moved & handled very well & considered for the RCC; 3 Chambers’ Manzamas It’s Right It’s Wrong, a quality cream dog who unfortunately was a little unsettled so did himself no favours, however his quality is undeniable. While I was writing this critique something took his attention & he stood & showed himself off beautifully hopefully he will get his act together as he should make up easily once composed. GCD (2) 1 Spence’s Stormavon Sandpiper with Spencerian, a gold dog of nice breed, slightly cow hocked which reflected in his hind movement, good bone, excellent tailset; 2 Trendle’s Lusam Tuff Talkin’.
VB (6) 1 Moir’s Ch Stormavon Sky Flyer To Jansanleis, a lovely 9 year old cream bitch. I put in my notes that she was similar pattern to my DCC winner. Looking in my catalogue she carries the same affix as the mother of DCC, so perhaps they are related? The same lovely substance perhaps carrying just a shade too much weight, but real quality; 2 Trendle’s Ch Lusam Parti Popper, lovely b/parti, excellent for 11 years old. This owner certainly has some older dogs in wonderful condition. Lovely shape, moved very well, excellent head pattern with nice neat ears. Just not quite as much bone as my winner; 3 Garwood’s Pritzagems Tantalize, 9 year old black of excellent shape, good neck, well shown in beautiful coat & condition. Tullis’ Ch/Ir/Int Ch Radajasa Double Fizzion. PB (4) A class of very mixed type & size. 1 Hall - Nardik Inky Dinky Doo, a pretty br/w/parti on the smaller end of the size scale, nice & square outline, nicely marked, lovely head, good tailset just needs more confidence then she will settle better into showing; 2 Shepherd & Macbain’s Fecimus The Good Fairy, g/s with unusual marking, a bit long cast so not giving the outline I was looking for, good neat feet; 3 Corr’s Crystalclear Pretty In Pink, another one a shade long, her tailset is a bit low so she’s not giving the desired outline, excellent neat feet & lovely coat. JB (4,1) 1 BPB, Tullis’ Radajasa’s Greta Zelle, 10 month sable/ parti, at the in between stage with her coat so not seeing her at her best, lovely head proportions, excellent tailset, moved well, has the makings of a nice bitch just hope she’s finished growing; 2 Andrew’s Claran Daydreaming, 15 month old gold bitch, preferred the less defined stop of my winner, would have liked her a bit more compact to give a good outline, well presented in good coat with an excellent tailset; 3 Moxon’s Chilite Cochina at Thirldene, g/w/parti at the smaller end of the scale, not at all settled or happy with her surroundings so difficult to assess. PGB (16,1) 1 Wright’s Orion Chloe May, I liked this bitch & strongly considered her for the RCC. A lovely cream in excellent coat, I found her of similar type to my dog CC winner, she is top size but loved her type & quality, standing she presented the desired outline, just the right amount of bone, exquisite head, shown in top class condition; 2 Williams’ Seirian Skyfall, another nice bitch, a little out of coat, smaller size but again of the type I was looking for, very well handled; 3 Baker’s Clarmers Ruby Red, brown not in full coat, a shade longer in body which is the reason she stood, good head proportions & moved well. LB (12,3) 1 Spence’s Seirian Skydancer with Spencerian, cream bitch of lovely type & size, liked her head proportions, in good enough coat, moved soundly; 2 Bradbury’s Oberitz Topsy Turvy for Wychlea, another nice bitch & close decision between her & 1, liked her square outline & her eye shape; 3 Tonks’ Oberitz Happy Hour von Wilzhund, another nice black winning her place in this class on her quality, she lost out on second place as I found her eyes a shade round & she wasn’t as positive on the move. OB (13,3) Three very nice bitches. 1 BCC & BOB, Pearce & Francis’ Ch Longsdale’s Dilemma, exquisite black with the perfect silhouette, groomed to perfection, loved her head & eye, she’s just oozes femininity, she was exactly what I was looking for, with the neatest of feet she moved briskly around the ring. This kennel is certainly consistently producing such excellent examples of the breed. Very well done; 2 RCC, Hamer & Cree’s Ch/Ir Ch Clarme Caramel Surprise, a lovely gold bitch just coming back into coat, lovely outline, excellent bone of excellent breed type would love to see her in full coat; 3 Samuelsson’s Cib/Nord Uch Holy Divers This Love Will Last, a very nice black completed lovely trio of bitches, good breed type, a bit finer in bone but still nicely balanced, handled very well. GCB (5) 1 Trendle’s Ch Lusam Parti Popper; 2 Kettle-White’s Lusam Spic N’span, 8 year old g/s from the veteran class, nice type, profuse coat moved well; 3 Kettle-White’s Jayfeather Parti Light, larger type b/w/parti, a bit tall on the hocks otherwise a nice bitch with a good head.
