Critique

It was a great honour to receive the invitation from Bournemouth to award my third set of CCs in Kleins. Not a huge entry numerically, although about average for the year, quality was mixed with a few light eyes creeping in, incorrect mouths and poor movement on display. The majority of exhibits were presented in clean condition and exhibited typical spitz temperaments. The principle winners were excellent examples of the breed and there are some promising youngsters making their way through the classes. I would like to thank the society for inviting me to judge; my very efficient stewards for ensuring the ring ran smoothly, and to the exhibitors who supported me and the sporting way in which they accepted my decisions.

German Spitz Klein

Puppy Dog (4,0)
A class of promising youngsters at varying stages of maturity and coat.

1st Dyer & Orr’s Musique Wishful Thinking. Mature 8.5 month-old brown shown in good coat of correct texture. Presents a pleasing, balanced outline on the stand. Masculine head of good proportions with correct eye, which could be darker. Ears well set and used throughout. Good bone for size into neat feet. Good angles front and rear, moved out steadily covering the ground. BPIB.

2nd Chambers’ Musique Quilo. Cream litter brother to 1, though that would not be immediately apparent. Well proportioned with a short compact body, and good bone. Good head with correct eye and soft expression, would prefer smaller ears. Correct angles front, moved out well, though rear could have been more positive.

3rd Hull’s Clarmers Gunna’b Special

Junior Dog 3, 0)
1st Dyer & Orr’s Musique Wishful Thinking (Winner of PD)

2nd Bayliss’ Kysiena Chant of the Dream at Karmajen. Parti-colour of almost 18 months. A tad stretched in overall body proportions though okay for bone and size. Head okay, but would prefer a flatter skull. Correct eye, would benefit from darker pigment. Really not showing himself off to advantage today and tending to drop his tail.

3rd Sutherland’s Chilite Chogan.

Post Graduate Dog (1,1)
WITHDRAWN.

Limit Dog (1,1)
WITHDRAWN.

Open Dog (7, 1)
1st Dyer’s Obertitz Curiousity at Javarm Black dog of almost 3 years old, possessing excellent breed type. On the stand he can look a tad long, but once hands on you can appreciate he possesses excellent overall balance with good conformation. He is good for size and is well boned. Very pleasing masculine head of correct proportions, with excellent eye and neat well set ears. Shown in firm condition with good muscle tone, on the move he was sound away and towards, and exhibited good reach and drive in the sidegait. DCC.

2nd Chamber’s Manzamas It’s Right It’s Wrong (Imp) Well coated 3-year-old quality cream with a very typical outline. Excellent proportions overall and beautiful wedge shaped head with correct dark eye and neat well set ears. Moved out well with purpose. Was a close decision between 1 & 2, just felt that 1st had the edge on showmanship and scored on rear movement. RDCC

3rd Hull’s Wyndlee Cam En Bear with Clarmer

Veteran Dog (1, 0)
1st Corr’s Ir Ch GB Int Ch Crystalclear Working On A Dream. Black of almost 8-years-old. Shown in good coat and condition. Pleasing typical head and expression, lovely dark eye and neat ears. Good in outline with adequate bone for size. Moved out well with positive hind action, front could be tighter. Covered the ground well with good side gait.

Puppy Bitch (1, 0)
1st Bayliss’ Kysiena She Who Wears Fur At Karmajen. Brown and white parti-colour of 10 months. Enjoying her day out. This raw youngster is very feminine. Petite and light in bone, she has nice eye. Head balance would benefit from a fuller muzzle. Moved out okay.

Junior Bitch (1,0)

1st Grayers’ Radajasa’s Nancy Wake At Delgray. 15-month-old white, presented in immaculate coat and condition. Feminine, pleasing head and expression. Lovely dark pigment, correct eye and well shaped ear which could be slightly smaller. Good for size she possesses adequate bone and presents a typical outline. Moved out well, though a tad close away, good towards and excellent in sidegait. A good prospect for the future.

Post Grad Bitch (4 ,1)

1st Baker’s Clarmers Ruby Red. 2-year-old brown bitch. A quality bitch, with good bone, though a fraction long in body proportions. Pretty feminine head of good proportions with lovely eye and neat ears. Good tail which was well carried, presented in good coat and condition she moved out well, covering the ground.

2nd Mellor’s Nirvana Sunset At Bellapip. 21-month old Black and White parti colour. Another which is just a tad long in body proportions. Pretty head on this girl with kind expression, correct dark eye, ears a little tall. Presented in good condition. She was handled to advantage and moved out soundly.

3rd Delve & Andrew’s Claran Fern

Limit Bitch (2,0)

1st Andrew’s Runfold Diamon Lil of Claran. 5-year-old Black shown in lovely coat and firm condition. Lovely feminine head of correct proportions. Good eye and neat well set ears. Presents a pleasing outline, standing 4-square with proportionate bone for size. Good front and rear angles, moved out soundly. Her overall balance and sound movement won her the RBCC.

2nd Tullis’ Radajasa’s Greta Zelle. Attractively marked sable & white of 15-months-old. Typical head with dark expressive eye, neat ears and sweet expression. With good bone and substance, she presents a balanced outline. Sadly she had left her coat at home today, which would have just been the icing on the cake for this pretty showgirl.

Open Bitch (2,0)

1st Tullis’ Ir Ch Radajasa Double Agent Nyx Jun Ch. Sparkling white, 5-year-old who was presented in first class coat and condition. Standing 4-square this quality girl presents a typical outline. She possesses a superb feminine head of correct proportions, dark eye, neat well set ears and sweet expression. She has a compact body, with good spring of rib and depth of chest, and good bone, excellent front assembly with good layback of shoulder, allowing movement with purpose, and good drive. Handled to advantage, she covered the ring with ease and could not be denied the BCC &BOB.

2ndTrendle’s Lusam Toodle Pip. Wolf Sable of 6-years-old. A quality bitch presented in excellent coat and condition. She moved out with ease, sound away and toward, with good reaching sidegait. An attentive showgirl, who presented herself well. Preferred head of 1.

Veteran Bitch (2,0)

1st Trendle’s Ch Lusam Parti Popper ShCm. 11.5-year-old B/W parti-colour presented in excellent coat and firm condition. Short, compact body presenting a pleasing outline. Good head of correct proportions, good eye, would prefer neater ears. Good bone and correct feet. Good angles front and rear and covered the ground with ease.

2nd Hull’s Ch Clarmers Caramel Surprise. 7-year-old cream, another quality exhibit who could show the youngsters a thing or two! Pleasing head with sweet expression, good eye and neat ears. Lacking in coat today and not covering the ground as easily as 1, but also of excellent type.
