Critique

Thank you to the Committee of the GSB&OC for the invitation to judge this open show of both Kleins and Mittels and a huge thank you to the exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me. I would also like to thank my great steward who worked so hard for me and then ran across to the other ring – I hope she got fed at some point! I had some really lovely dogs to go over. Generally size was not an issue and while I did not have to struggle to find what I liked, the ‘square’ outline was not universal. I was disappointed to find several dogs that were wide in front or with restricted front movement, and frustratingly, a couple of well-constructed dogs insisted on crabbing on the move. Temperaments were lovely (and I apologise for stealing smooches on the table), the standard of presentation was high and exhibitors were lovely – accepting my placings with grace. I had a really great day which I will remember fondly. Thank you.

Limit (2) 1. Hamer & Cree’s Wyndlee Cam En Bear with Clarmer. Two year old, nice for size and in lovely jacket. Attractive head with and expression. Overall balanced outline. Moved briskly but would have liked a little more front extension. 2. Beck’s Nardik Tiger Woods. 3 year old black. Sporting his underwear today, showing off a lovely square outline. Playing up on the move.
Open (5,1) A lovely class of quality dogs. 1. Francis & Pearce’s Ch Longsdale’s Willie Win JW. 4 year old cream shown in full coat, presented so well and making a lovely picture. Attractive head, correct eye and lovely pigment. Square outline with good lay of shoulder, short back and neat rear. Good construction showing on the move which was brisk and free with lovely parallel movement coming and going. BOB. 2. Hamer & Cree’s Int Ch Clarmers Diamond Mischief. 3 year old black with good quality coat. Lovely in head with super ears. Good square outline and very nicely constructed. Moved well. RBOB. 3. Francis & Pearce’s Ch Longsdales Woody Win. 4. Wright & Halligan’s Ch Nardik Eclipse.
Veteran (1) 1. Beck’s Lasaulette Rustic Rudyard. 7 year old parti-colour with profuse coat, well presented. Handsome head with lovely neat ears. Square in outline. A little erratic on the move.

Puppy (1) 1. Francis & Pearce’s Fecimus That’s How You Know Longsdale. 11 month old brown shown in lovely condition. Attractive head; super shape and overall construction with good bone. Very sound on the move. Loved her. BP.
Junior (1) 1. Baker’s Clarmers Ruby Red. 13 months – coat coming, and what she had was of good quality and well presented. Very pretty in head and nice square outline. Liked her front assembly. Sound on the move.
Special Yearling – no entries
Post Graduate – no entries
Limit (2) 1. Francis & Pearce’s Londsdale’s Dilemma. My notes say ‘loved her’! 2 year old black. Very pretty girl with attractive head with correct eye shape and neat ears. Lacking undercoat today which just showed off her lovely shape. Great muscle tone, good bone. Moved well with good foot placement. BB and BOS. 2. Avery’s Aveka’s Estrellita. Parti-colour bitch with very pretty head and neat ears. Slightly longer cast than 1 and overall would like just a little less of her. Not as tidy on the move.

Veteran (1) Francis & Pearce’s Ch Rimazet Serafino JW. Class act. 7 year old brown. Pretty in head with lovely expression; beautifully put together with correct square shape. Quality coat well presented. Her super outline and balance showed on the move. RBB, BVIB and later BVIS.
