GERMAN SPITZ - KLEIN

Many thanks to the Committee of LKA for the invitation to judge at this wonderful show, and to the exhibitors who braved the icy wet weather. I found a rather worrying trend of short and narrow ribcages with long loins, and although the dogs still appear compact, it is the exact opposite of what the Breed Standard calls for, and gives unsteady front movement. I also found some truly beautiful dogs, and was so happy to see my Klein Dog CC line up, all similar in overall type and soundness, and was honoured to give two 7 year old Mittels their 24th CC each!!

MPD (2) 1 Pearce & Francis' Longsdale's Blame It On Me. BPIB,  8 month old cream whose coat and head properties are yet to develop, having said that his construction is excellent with a well laid shoulder and good forechest, well ribbed with strong short loin and well set tail. He has a perfect scissor bite with strong even teeth and a well balanced head. A dog I would like to see again when he is mature. 2 Beck's Nardik. Just 6 months old, this very attractive cream particolour baby has excellent profile movement and is quite eyecatching, but needs to strengthen in movement  to and fro. He has an attractive head with rather large ears which I hope will settle.

PD (2) 1 Pearce & Francis' Longsdale Heat Of The Moment. This 9 month old puppy is a stunning dark chocolate sable and presents a beautiful icture of balance in profile. He has lovely feet and bone, a good mouth and an attractive head and expression. He is slightly narrow all through, hope he springs his rig and develops in forechest as he matures as he is a lovely boy. 2 Beck's Nardik Wizzard.

JD (2) 1 Jackson & Minshall's Perrymere Just Bertie. A most attractive gold dog in lovely coat, he has a balanced outline with good length of rib and short loin but needs to develop in brisket as he matures. He pushed hard for top honours. He moved well in profile and makes a lovely outline when standing. 2 Sutherland's Cyfelin Man In Black. A bigger black sable boy who is not as compact as 1, he was not so positive in movement and needs to strengthen all through but is still young and has some lovely qualities to grow in to.

LD (4, 1) 1 Chambers' Musique Quilo. DCC. A stunning  youngster just beginning to mature, underneath his cream and white particolour coat is a beautifully constructed and well knit dog. He is compact and well ribbed with a short and strong loin and well developed brisket. He caught my eye with his straight and brisk movement and never stopped showing off his quality. I was very pleased to award him the CC. 2 Dyer & Orr's Musique Wishful Thinking JW. A bigger brown dog who showed well and has a very good outline and balance. He has an attractive head and good profile movement but is a bit short in rib and needs to develop in brisket which should strengthen his front movement. 3 Sutherland's Chilite Chogan.

OD (5, 2) 1 Lewis' Indizak Hakuna Matata At Louchelle ShCM. RCC, a very attractive boy indeed that I have watched with interest, he has a big cream sable coat and a well balanced head, he is very compact and is a dog who probably looks even better when not in full coat. His profile and rear movement are very sound but he was a bit wide in front today which cost him in the final challenge. 2 Dyer's Ch Oberitz Curiousity At Javarm. A lovely black boy with a beautiful head and expression, longer cast than 1 and not quite as active in movement today as I have seen him. 3 Moir & Moir's Jansanleis Loud 'N' Proud.

VD (2, 1) 1 Shepherd's Chilite Indian Chief. BVIB. 8 year old adorable ball of chocolate, beautifully presented, who is a very smart mover. He has beautiful legs and feet and a well set tail with an attractive head and expression.

MPB (1) 1 Hughes' Radajasa's Mary Touvestre For Candease. A little charmer, only just 6 months and very naughty which I like. She has a very attractive head and expression and when standing showed her well made body and lovely outline. Her movement was both brisk and exuberant and she had a lovely time.

PB (2) 1 Allison's Oberitz Out Of The Shadows. 2 Moir & Moir's  Jansanleis Sheez Sassi. Both these young ladies need time to mature and the exhibitors were happy for me not to write an in depth critique as they will have developed so much by the next year of shows.

JB (1) 1 Francis, Pearce & Quinn's Longsdales One That I Want. Such a pretty black and tan girl of 15 months with a well laid shoulder and well angulated rear. Her haed is very attractive and she had a lovely outline on the move.

PGB (1) 1 Walker's Kysiena River Dancer. A very attractive black and white particolour with a pretty head and expression. She had a lovely coat and moved nicely but would prefer a shorter loin.

LB (2) 1 Hall's Nardik Inky Dinky Doo. A 2 yr old brown and white particolour that I really liked. She had positive and brisk movement and a lovely head and expression with well set and sized ears, good bone and feet, just a tad long in loin.

OB (3, 1) 1 Pearce & Francis' Ch Longsdale's Dilemma. BCC and BOB. A stunning black girl, she just gleamed. She has such a  well balanced head and a beautiful wedge with no coarseness, a good length and spring of rib and short strong loin. She has brisk and effortless movement and behaved like a star. This girl was in perfect coat and condition and was a joy to go over. 2 Mellor's Nirvarna Sunset At Bellapip. This was a another attractive girl, black and white particolour with good bone and feet and a lovely expression.

VB (1) 1 Trendle's Ch Lusam Parti Popper ShCM. RCC and BVIB, at 12 years old she has lost none of the sparkle and joy of life, she maintains a lovely outline both moving and standing with well developed muscle firm movement.

GCB (2) 1 Trendle's  Lusam Toodle Pip ShCM. A 7 yr old wolf sable girl who moved with purpose and showed very well, her head is a little overdone but she is an attractive little lady all through. 2 Walker's  Kysiena River Dancer.
