Critique

BUBA 1990
A total of 86 dogs made for an interesting afternoon's judging, especially since I attended almost no shows in 1990. Very few oversize dogs were entered under me, possibly because my views on the subject are known. Some of those which were only ¼-½" were placed because of general type and soundness. I also put the smaller mittels under the klein measure, knowing that several have been said to be too small for mittels. In fact only 2 were of klein size, which underlines how dangerous it can be to rely on 'eye'. Mouths were very much better than they have been in the past and hind action was greatly improved but front movement still leaves much to be desired. I was very concerned about the number of wavy coats; the standard is quite specific calling for a 'long, harsh-textured, perfectly straight top coat - the importance of 'straight' is emphasised by 'perfectly'. Wavy is quite simply wrong.

Good coat for his age, good head with correct expression. Nice body, very good hind movement

A superb coat, very nice head,good body. Hind action good but a little close in front
3-Leak's Rikarlo Neptune
A pretty particolour not yet in coat and rather light in body but a stunningly sound mover with a nice expression.

Abundant coat of correct texture, a good compact body. Wide in front but an excellent rear mover.

1-Hill's Lusam the Toff
Striking particolour of superb type with an excellent coat, short body, correct tailset & carriage. Absolutely sound mover. Very slightly oversize but so good in other respects that I happily made him Best Dog
2-Highmoor's Delgray's Huggy Bear
A beautifully presented sable. Lovely head & expression, good mover, excellent size. Coat less impressive than 1st.
3-Highmoor's Atroya That's my Boy
A beautiful mover, excellent coat texture, nice head & expression. Oversize.

A delightful apricot dog of correct size.Very sound, good coat, engagingly alert expression. Reserve Best Dog

A pretty particolour with a nice head & expression & good movement. Coat slightly less good than 1st
3-Brook's Ramblingfield's Herr Flick
A correctly sized black with an excellent coat, nice head & expression

A very typy particolour with a good coat. Sound mover. Tendancy to drop his tail when standing spoilt his outline & cost him 1st place.
3-Gillies' Tefanra Good Luck V.D. Ketelhofje
A very sound black of super type & good coat but far too thin.

An aptly named red of good type with a harsh coat, a very nice head & expression.
2-Hughes'Aradet Satin Doll of Rosendale
A particolour who proves that small size and soundness are not incompatible. Her coat is straight but soft & I should like to see her when she has matured.
3-Chandler's Zanarra Charlie Girl
Nice head & type with a lovely coat but size & movement let her down.

1-Trendle's Lusam Lah De Dah
An unusual Mahogany particolour of super type with a good bitch coat & a lovely head with small ears. Rather fine bone.
2-Brook's Ramblingfield's Christa
A well coated sable, nicely put together witha good coat & excellent tail carriage
3-Dixon's Shanhill Black Suede
A black of correct size who wasn't happy & showed it. A lovely body & good movement. Reasonable coat with a slight tendancy to wave.

A black of excellent type & coat, lovely head, good movement but oversize.
3-Deats' Ulmarra's Geisha Girl for Aradet
A most attractive particolour of good type and excellent coat. Nice body, moved well but dropped her tail & spoiled her outline.

A typy sound sable with excellent coat & tail and nice small ears.

A nicely balanced black with good coat & movement
