Richmond Championship Dog Show

German Spitz (Klein)
Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge Kleins at their show and for their hospitality. I loved the new layout of the show and want to congratulate them on their hard work in keeping the show going in the adverse weather conditions.
The weather conditions during judging were less than ideal with thunderstorms and torrential rain which led to a lot of surface water collecting inside the tent combined with very uneven ground it affected some of the dog’s today. All dogs were well presented. Sadly bad mouths seem to be creeping into the breed and really must be watched. Not a numerically strong entry so hard to make an assessment of the breed as a whole.
VD (1,0)
1st) Trendle’s Lusam Cheeky Boy - 10 yr old large cream. Presents a balanced outline with good bone. Masculine head, ears a little large and wide set. He is so well made, with well laid shoulders, straight front and well sprung ribs. Moderately angulated hindquarters and well muscled throughout. He used his construction to his advantage on the move showing his sound movement which could put some youngsters to shame. In good coat and condition and really does not look his age.
JD) (3,1)
1st) Lampen & Wilson’s Melitabe Orion Von Rosco - Top size sable but under the measure. Masculine head of good proportions, oval eye and well set ears. Moderately angulated throughout. Well sprung rib and short loin. Level topline with excellent tailset. All of which gave him a pleasing outline. His movement is spot on which gave him the class today. Straight and true coming and going with good side action. His coat is coming in nicely and is of good texture.
2nd) Huntley’s Fecimus Brother Bear At Puidelup - Brown of 15m. Smaller all over than 1st but not too small. At this moment he is very immature and needs time to come into his own. Wedge head with a good shape eye. Well set ears of good shape but could be smaller. Moderate quarters, needs to drop in chest which will help to add a little width to his front. Level topline with a good tail set. He really did not want to cooperate with his owner on the move today but came back into the next class and pulled himself together to move well.
PGD (1,0)
1st) Huntley’s Fecimus Brother Bear At Puidelup 2nd in JD
LD) (1,0)
1st) Rogersons’s Nosregor Take It All - Black dog who is starting to come into his own. Presents a pleasing outline with nothing overdone. Wedge head, oval eye and good ear which he used well. Good length of neck. Well angulated quarters. Well ribbed up and short loin. Excellent topline and well set tail. Moved straight and true coming and going. Not showing his side profile to advantage today but the uneven ring didn’t help.
OD (5,1)
There was very little to separate 1st, 2nd and 3rd in this class and maybe on another day with better weather and ring conditions they could change places.
1st) Chambers’ Ch Musique Born Legacy - I judged this 6 year old male at his first show at 6m and gave him BOB, I was pleased that my opinion had not changed. Now fully mature he presents a excellent outline. In excellent coat of correct texture. Wedge head, oval eye and well set ears of good size. Liked his length of neck leading onto well laid shoulders. Well ribbed up, short loin and moderate well muscled hindquarters. Just the right amount of bone with catlike feet. Had the edge today on 2nd and 3rd on the move today. I’m sure they will all change places often. CC & BOB
2nd) Chambers & Gepp Cox’s Ch Bemojo Pearls of Wisdom - Another who presents a balanced outline and moderate angulation throughout. He has the best of heads, wedge with oval eye which is well set. Well set ears which he used to advantage. Good length of neck leading onto well angulated quarters. Good spring of rib and short loin. Lacking some coat on his back end but more than enough coat on the rest of his body. Preferred the bone of 1. Moved soundly. RCC
3rd) Andrew’s Ch Claran Court Your Breath - I believe this dog deserves a mention. He is a very worthy champion and so well made. He pushed the first two hard today and there was very little to separate them. Still a young dog who has plenty of time in his side. I also think on better ground he would really show his movement off to his advantage and with a little maturity he will trouble the best.
VB (3,0) This class was a joy to judge, all 3 a credit to their owners.
1st) Ferry & Ferry’s Ch Longsdale's Little Bird With Ferrybelle - One I have liked for a long time. Totally out of coat but it doesn’t hide her well constructed frame. Feminine wedge head, the best of eye shape and well set ears of good shape which she used to advantage. Moderate throughout with good length of neck and well laid shoulders. Straight front and good feet. Short loin and well angulated rear. Level topline and tail well set and carried. Moved soundly. BVIB and pleased to see her shortlisted in the veteran group.
2nd) Trendle’s Lusam Toodle Pip ShCM - it’s hard to believe that this bitch is 14 years old as she shows no sign of slowing down. Not the head of 1st but another that is so well made throughout. Moderate angulation, good rib and short loin. Well muscled and super sound on the move. An absolute joy to watch. Liked her for size and bone.
MPB (1,0)
1st) Ferry & Ferry’s Longsdale’s Eternal Flame with Ferrybelle - An extremely promising 7m sable. Feminine wedge head, oval eye which is well set and moderate stop. Well set ears of good shape but could be smaller but once coat comes in won’t be so noticeable. Moderate neck leading onto well laid shoulders. Needs to deepen in chest but is only a baby so will come with maturity. Moderate rear angulation and hocks well let down. Level top line and well set tail. Moved well with particularly good rear movement and side profile. Just had the edge over the open bitch today to clinch the RCC.
PB (1,0)
1st) Hickson & Hickson’s Claran Court Of Delights At Kichigai - A bitch you need to get your hands on to truly appreciate. Totally feminine and so well made. On the lower end of the height standard but not too small. Wedge head and oval eye. Correct ear shape, size and set. Good length of neck leading onto the best of shoulders, straight front and catlike feet. Good spring of rib, short loin and moderately angulated hindquarters. Level topline and well set tail. Straight and true coming and going with a brisk side action. Her attitude just completes the package. CC (her 2nd) & BPIB
JB (3,0) A very mixed class with various types.
1st) Chambers & Allison’s Barbarita Best Beast (import Latvia) Naf - Black bitch who I liked for her balance and size. Ultra feminine head with a super eye shape. Well laid shoulders and good depth of chest. Good rear. Level topline and tailset and moved soundly.
2nd) Lampen & Wilson’s Cassiopeia Von Rosco - A little bigger all over than ideal for me and not quite the eye shape of 1st but she is well made. Litter sister to the winner of JD and very much of the same mould with construction. Well angulated throughout with a level topline. Moved soundly although a little unsettled due to the noise.
3rd) Brown’s Smilga Visada Kartu Naf Taf
PGB (1,0)
1st) Macpherson’s Kismets Valhalla- I liked this bitch but she was really unsettled by the thunder and torrential rain. Nothing overdone about her and totally moderate throughout. Ultra feminine, wedge head with good eye. Reluctant to use ears today but understandable given the noise under the tent. She gave a very pleasing outline which was balanced. Good neck, well angulated throughout. Needs to settle in front on the move but good going away. Out of coat but it’s of good texture. Will watch with interest with some maturity and coat she will be a lovely bitch.
OB (1,0)
1st) Rogerson’s Ch Nosregor Sister Sledge- This is one I have admired over the last couple of years from the ringside but today she lacked her usual ring presence today and gave her handler a hard time and would cooperate on the stack or on the move, this sadly cost her in the challenge. Top size but within the standard. Not in full coat but has enough to not spoil the picture and it is of the correct texture. Presents a pleasing square outline. Feminine head of wedge shape, good eye which is well set. Correct mouth and well set ear but she did not use them to her advantage. Good length of neck leading onto well laid shoulders. Moderate bone and catlike feet. Well ribbed up and short loin. Moderate hindquarters. When she focused on the task ahead she showed her positive movement, which is straight and true. Would like to see her on a better day when she cooperates with her handler.
SBB (2,0)
1st) Saunder’s Delgray's Bootylicious At Brookwell - Petite bitch who would benefit of a little less coat to show off her shape. Her coat however was turned out to perfection. I would like a little more of her all over but she is well constructed. Super feminine head, oval eye which is well set. Excellent ear shape, size and set which she used well. Moderate angulation throughout. Moved soundly. She is handled to absolute perfection to get the very best out of her and the bond this bitch and her handler have is obvious for all to see. BSB
2nd) Brown’s Smilga Visada Kartu Naf Taf - 3rd in Junior and of very different type. Bigger all over but not too big and still feminine. Wedge head, well set ears but they could be smaller. Not quite the angulation of 1st. Moved ok.
