GERMAN SPITZ - KLEIN

Sorry, Chris Trendle was unable to judge on the day as her dogs were poorly. I was delighted to be asked to judge in her place. The entry was poor, but nevertheless, I did find dogs I was pleased to give my top awards. I have not been showing my Spitz lately as all mine are now too old to show. I was so shocked to see our lovely breed change so much—small heads when the breed standard calls for medium to large, not medium to small. Some of them had no neck, which gives them the appearance of a Pom stance. The puppy bitch that entered the ring—I thought, “What a pretty puppy,” but she is coming in the wrong breed ring. I did go over her and let her move. I am sorry to say I had to withhold the placing; she was definitely in the wrong breed class. I think I should know my breed, as I was one of the people who put the standard together. All the dogs, I am pleased to say, went under the Klein measure. We must keep measuring them, please. JD (2) 1. Crystalclear Bobbee Dazzler (IKC) (Hall) Cream sable, pleasing head, neat ears, enough neck, slightly arced, level topline, well-placed tail, good bone, moved sound, well-presented. 2. Rosco’s Hurricane (Lampen & Wilson) Cream. Well-coated, would like a little more muzzle, ears good, ample body and bone with a super tail set. Pleasing outline, moved okay. LD (2) 1. Fecimus Brother Bear at Puidelup JW (Huntley) Brown, correct head shape with a lovely ear set, eye, and pigment to match the coat. Would like a little more body. Smart going around the ring. 2. Dream Team Stars Irresistibly Black (Imp Bgr) (Moore) Black, lovely body shape, full of coat, good bone and feet, well-placed tail, moved okay. OD (1) 1. Longsdale’s Dance with Me Trebettyn JW (Francis, Pearce, Williams & Davies) Cream sable, another smart little dog, typey head, a little full in the eye but still gives a good expression with neat ears. Well-bodied, lovely tail set, pleasing outline. RCC. VD (2,1) 1. Ch Perrymere Just Bertie JW (Jackson & Minshall) Cream. I have judged this boy before, and my opinion hasn’t changed. A superb German Spitz with a lovely head for a cream, correct length of muzzle to head. Always well-presented in a lovely coat, pigment excellent, moves around the ring as if he owns it. BV and CC. PB (1) 1. Withheld.  JB (3,1) 1. Longsdale No More Drama (Anderson) Black, lovely head, very feminine neck, correct length fitting nicely into well-placed shoulders, giving a straight, well-boned front, nicely bodied, tail fitting flat over her back. Outline couldn’t be better. A little unsteady on the move, well-deserved RBCC. 2. Rosco’s Breeze (Beck) Cream sable, well-bodied, nice bone with good feet. I felt I would like a little more length to his neck. This little chap needs time. PGB (2,1) 1. Melitabe Lyra avec Fecimus (Cheyney-Wiles) Wolf sable, very sweet, lovely body shape, beautifully presented, well-placed tail, good bone, spritzy head. I would like a little more of her. OB (3,1) 1. Nosregor Easy On Me (Rogerson) Black, super black bitch, head just what the breed standard asks for, neat well-placed ears, dark, correct-shaped eye, neck and shoulders making the front legs nicely tuck under, giving the straightest of fronts. Hindquarters are of equal quality, tail set placed over the back, giving full volume. I believe I gave her BPIS at the breed show, so pleased to give BCC and BOB. 2. Ch Claran Court of Delights at Kichigai (Hickson) Cream, nicely bodied, good bone for size, would like a little more head, lovely dark pigment, a little unsettled today.
