Paignton Championship Dog Show        07/08/2018

Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge and my two efficient stewards. All exhibits where well presented with clean dentition. Although a disappointing number of entries there was quality throughout. Thank you to the exhibits who entered and made it an enjoyable day.

A difficult class as all three are quality males, it really was splitting hairs and on another day they could change places.

1st) Hall’s Sobriety Grizzly Bear at Pufnstuf JW. Well grown brown who is all male and presented a square balanced outline in the best of coats. Masculine head with oval obliquely set eyes which are of good colour. ears set high and of good shape which he used well, with correct dentition. When you get your hands on him you really appreciate how well he his made. Clean neck leading on the best of shoulders, well ribbed up with short muscular loin. Moderate hindquarters, is well boned with good feet. Level topline and tail high set. Today he really pulled out the stops on the move, moving effortlessly with reach and drive, straight and true fore and aft. BD & BOB.

2nd) Roberts’ Longsdale Turning Tables at Cwrtafon. Different type to 1st but lots to like and you can appreciate his many qualities. Good head, to be picky although the breed is only to have a moderate stop I would prefer a little more on this boy. Nevertheless he had oval eyes which are well set, the best of pigment and correct dentition. Triangular ears which are high set but he really didn’t want to use to them to advantage today. Clean neck leading onto well angulated shoulders, straight front. Best of bodies and well developed loin with good hindquarters with plenty of bone. Moved soundly, edged out by 1st on final run off and just didn’t have his ring presence today. RBD

3rd) Hewitt’s Spellcast Talk Tidee.

PB (1,1abs)

PGB (2,1abs)

1st) Hall’s Spellcast Lets Ava Take at Pufnstuf - 2 year old cream on the small side but still within standard. She has the prettiest of heads, oval eyes which are well set and a beautiful expression. I would prefer higher set ears, she can carry them a little low. Correct dentition. Clean neck of good length leading onto moderately angulated shoulders with matching hindquarters. Stretched proportions but isn’t actually as long as she looks when freestacked as she has a tendency to overstretch. Catlike feet with enough bone. She moved so well, effortlessly with good action front and rear. Well muscled and in good condition. BB & BOS
