Critique

MITTEL: I was looking for a dog of good square proportions. Far too many had irregular incisors and far too many were very close coming and going. My CC winner, although on the upper limit of the standard, excelled in the points required. Breeders must continue to pay attention to proportions and should discard the bad mouths - there are too many.

PD (4,1) 1 Purves’ Bulabs Polarbear. Strong cream. Middle sized and of good type and quality. Correct head with nice ears, eyes and expression. Well pigmented. Good coat of correct type. Moved soundly and well, could have better ring manners which will no doubt improve with time. 2 Hookway and Bentley’s Desaria Luka Mit Beaulion. Black and tan. Just 6 months with a good head and proportions. Nice bone, legs and feet. Quite sound and moved well. 3 Jacques’ Rosechow Enzo. 6 month old sable. Plenty big enough for age. The head and eyes are good, ears somewhat large. Well boned and in good condition. Toed in coming, gait otherwise quite good. I also found him too long in loin.

JD (4) 1 Hewett’s Spellcast Talk to Me. Strongly built black, on the upper limit of the standard, but not over. Well shaped and shows a good outline. Nice type with a masculine head, very good legs and feet. Moved well but close going away. Coat could, to advantage, be somewhat harsher and tends to wave. 2 Mulholland and Looker’s Caolita Nemesis. Cream who lost out on proportions to the winner. He is a touch long and tail is set a bit low. Very good coat and condition. Very sound and good movement. Would present a better picture if he showed more animation. 3 Elbourne’s Daraydala Kenzo. Brown of medium to small size. Very nice head with a good wedge, masculine. Good coat, bone, legs and feet. Moved ok.

PGD (9,2) 1 Day’s Danack’s Bill Bailey. Black of medium size and strength. Excellent type with a particularly good and typical head, ears and eyes. Very good general shape with lovely proportions. Shown in good condition. I shall watch his career with interest. Res CC. 2 Dickinson’s Nixtev Inferno. Good type of strong sable. Again a good, typical head and eye. Not quite the proportions of the winner but a nice dog nevertheless. Shown in good condition. Sound mover and a very good character. 3 Durham’s Stillmorr Durham Addition. Sable, mediu, size and strength. Good enough head but ears a touch wide set. Very good condition, bone and type. Movement fair enough and quite sound.

LD (10,2) 1 Powell’s Desaria Aurelius at Brookwell. Black with silver tail. Good head and neat ears with a well shaped eye that could, to advantage, be darker. Medium size and strength. Good side movement and sound. Good bone, legs and feet. Coat in good condition. He could carry more weight. 2 Purves’ Bulabs Spirit in the Sky. Cream, very nice type of dog with especially good head, eye and ears. Very good bone, legs and feet. Fair proportions and shown in good coat and condition. Toes in with right hind, otherwise gait good. 3 Mulholland’s Umshubwe Faccia Die Angelo mit Zephon. Cream, excellent type and shown in very good condition. Medium size, medium strong. Good coat, bone, legs and feet. Moved quite well. Could do with more animation.

OD (9) 1 Quayle’s Nosregor Mandis Gift. Top sized black, strong and very masculine dog of excellent type and quality. No need to look under him to determine his sex! Well shaped throughout, very square proportions with good length of leg. Very good forehand and hindquarters. Moved very well and quite sound, both coming and going. CC and BOB. 2 Beard’s Ch Wyndlee Ghost in my House. Cream with brown pigment. Good type of dog with a nice coat and of good quality. Head quite good, ears could be a touch higher set. Failed in forehand to the winner. Good bone, legs and feet. Fair mover and quite sound. 3 Powell’s Ch Desaria Disraeli at Brookwell. Sable and in immaculate condition. Masculine head with a good eye and ears. A bit upright in forehand and short in upperarm. Moved quite well and was fairly sound.

PB (11,1) 1 Sear’s Deasaria Lotte. Cream of just 6 months. Very good pigment, type and general shape. Medium sized and quite strong. Head needs to mature. She was alert and showed very well for one so young. Confident and self assured. Moved well, very true coming and going. Should do well. 2 Beard’s Spilmah Penny Layne In Wyndlee. Strictly speaking more my type than the winner, but her coat let her down on the day. Pretty black bitch with a lovely head and expression, goo bone and proportions. Moved quite well. 3 Orchard’s Spilmah Affair to Say. Cream sable with a black mask. Slightly longer than the two above but nevertheless still an attractive proposition, having a nice head, coat, type and feet. Very good bone. Nice mover and quite sound.

JB (3,1) 1 Chambers’ Nosregor Bewitched for Musique. Brown and a very good colour, type and quality. Feminine but of medium size. In very good condition with a good head, eyes and ears. Very good legs, bone and feet, although slightly longer forelegs would further enhance. Quite sound both coming and going and a very good side gait. 2 Beard’s Spilmah Penny Layne In Wyndlee.

PGB (5,2) 1 Purves’ Bulabs Truly Scrumptious. Cream, not yet in full coat. Good type, correct head and nice eyes and ears. Well set on neck with good quarters. Nice free movement but could be a touch cleaner going away. 2 Mulholland’s Umshubwe Ruby’s Black Onyx mit Zephon. Top sized black, rather long in proportions. Condition quite good, as are head, eyes and ears. Needs to firm in ligaments as she is rather slack in pasterns. Needs to be more collected in movement, tended to pace.

LB (5,2) 1 Beard’s Danack’s Winny the Witch. Medium sized brown with good type, proportions and balance. Good forehand and hindquarters, the latter being quite broad and muscular. Her one ‘if’ is that she tends to stand ‘10 to 2’ in front at times. Sound and strode out well around the ring. Res CC. 2 Bray’s Abbicher Queen of Egypt. Black with good head proportions, though somewhat round in eye. Nice type, a touch long in proportions. Quite sound and moved well. 3 Pooley’s Wyndlee Fallen Angel from Azkaban. Cream, a little on the heavy side. Attractive head, good ears and eye. Top size for a bitch. Good bone, legs and feet. A tad long in proportions, moved ok.

OB (3,1) 1 Garbutt’s Ch Runfold China Crisis at Nixtev. Medium sized cream of nice size and lovely quality. Head proportions good. Eyes a bit round and forward looking. Very good forehand and matching hindquarters. Maybe a bit long in couplings but still a very good bitch who moved superbly to win the CC. 2 Clayton’s Studholme Loving Lass. Cream, looked a bit immature alongside the winner, as well she may, she is only 19 months of age. Nice head, ears and outlook. Eye could be darker. In good coat and condition. Lost out in forehand to the winner. She is not so long in upperarm, and did not show the front movement of the winner. Sound coming and going and will no doubt mature into a good bitch.
