German Spitz
Mittel My thanks to Bath Committee for this invitation, my first for Mittels, and to my efficient stewards who kept things running once we got in the ring and shooed out any interlopers! The entry was mixed but there are some interesting youngsters coming along. Mouths need watching as does size in the bitches. The only difference between Mittel and Klein Standards is size. I started to use both measures and found at least two Klein sized bitches. If ever you need a reason for keeping the use of measures, this is it! The solid colours look to have the better heads with requisite amount of stop.
MPD (1) 1 Williams Druitz Cadfael. Male with lots to like about him. Good proportions overall. Well set ears and eyes. Good bone. A good prospect if he gets over his apprehension. But although Bath has excellent wet weather layouts and provided a good size ring, there is not much they can do about flapping canvas.
PD (6,1) 1 Hookway & Bentley Desaria Luka Mit Beaulion. Black/tan 11 month youngster. Lovely front and shoulder set on this chap and this showed in his movement. Excellent body but tail set a little low. Masculine head with well set ears and eyes. Not in full coat today and looked a little long in the back. 2 Williams Druitz Total Eclipse. 11 month old black boy. Well bodied and with well set tail. Again lacking undercoat. Erratic on the move and needs muscle up and settle into a stride to show him at his best. 3 Holmes Wyndlee Yang.
PGD (3,0) 1 Hewett Spellcast Talk To Me. Black with very square spitzy outline. Short loin, well set tail. Well shaped, head with dark eye and pigment. Excellent ear size and set and eye set. Moved briskly and energetically. Excellent tail set and coat quality. He should make up easily; time is on his side. Res CC. 2 Powell Desaria Bobbi Brown At Brookwell. Well boned masculine boy of heavier build than first but again with an attractive head and expression. Moving OK but preferred the more typical gait of 1. 3 Beard Wyndlee Earl Grey.
LD (8,2) 1 Beard Wyndlee Chandera Spectre. Handsome well proportioned orange with good pigment. Good length of leg and overall proportions. Well set tail, adequate bone for size. Very well muscled. 2 Stevens Galvizach Playboy. Black with exquisite head. Good wedge shape and lovely eye and ear set. Good length of leg for body size. Well muscled. Would not settle on the move, but the type I like. 3 Powell Desaria Flash Gordon At Brookwell.
OD (3,0) 1 Hewett Ch Runfold Full Frottle with Spellcast JW. Well grown male with very square outline. Good brisk movement. Remarks I have made about the Post Grad dog apply as I found later this is the sire; obviously stamps his type. Preferred this chap to his son on body development. CC and BOB. 2 Powell Ch Desaria Disraeli at Brookwell. Attractive wolf sable. Well coated and presented. More rear angulation than front which gives an uneven profile gait. Glamorous tail and tail set and attractive head. 3 Beard Ch Wyndlee Ghost In My House.
MPB (1,0) 1 Williams Druitz Melisande. What a little star this one is. Well put together and presenting a spitzy outline. Quite sound on the move. Lovely body. Twixt puppy and adult coat but very well presented and topped with a well set tail. Has all the cheek in the world and a bright future. BP.
JB (4,1) 1 Beard Splimah Penny Layne In Wyndlee. A gassy black, so full of herself. Well presented and well muscled. Feminine head and good pigment. OK on the move when she settled. 2 Holmes Wyndlee Fire And Ice. Lovely overall shape to this bitch but, but absolutely naked today. Probably the soundest bitch here on the move with excellent body and balanced angulation. Would love to see her in coat. 3 Hall Spilmah Affair To B.
PGB (2,0) 1 O’Loughlin Caoilta Virago. Well presented white bitch with dense black points. Good leg length to body proportions. Well set tail. Sound both ends. Solid body and good neck. Needs a bit more coat to complete the picture. Spitzy head and well set eyes and ears. BCC. 2 Gray Druitz September Song From Penlas. Dark sable bitch, well proportioned, but smaller pattern than 1. Good overall headshape, but would prefer a smaller eye. Not as steady on the move. Well coated and presented.
LB (1,0) 1 Beard Danack’s Winny The Witch. Good sized brown with associated pigment. Well shaped head and good eye set. Sound both ways when she settled. Tail set a little low, but a lot to like.
OB (4,1) 1 Hookway & Bentley Wyndlee Finlandia At Beaulion. Very square outline on this black bitch. Good body and leg length. Typical well proportioned head with excellent eye and ear set on good reach of neck. Plush coat and well set tail. German Spitz are not meant to have lots of angulation, front or rear, but I felt this girl needed just a bit more in front. Well presented but over handled. Res CC. 2 Thurston Rossfort Xanadu From Liubice. Attractive well coated feminine bitch. Good coat quality on this cream. Pretty feminine head. Moved well both ends. Slightly longer in the back than 1 which spoilt her outline. Well presented and handled. 3 Pooley Wyndlee Fallen Angel from Azkaban.
