Critique

MITTEL GERMAN SPITZ

It was a pleasure to have so many dogs to go over. I was pleased with the general quality of the Mittels which appears much improved although of course we can never be complacent in a minority breed such as German Spitz. The Klein German Spitz however now seem to be occupying the problem position of lack of depth in quality that the Mittels suffered from. I was pleased with my major winners but  there still seems to be too many small fine boned dogs and bitches often with almost hare feet rather than the correct cat feet. Some lack substance and appear slab sided as well as being long in back and weak in loin. The standard call for a compact short coupled dog with an almost square outline which has a short well-developed loin and is well ribbed up and rounded with profusion of coat not disguising any lack of substance and we must remember this when selecting our breeding stock or stud dog.

VD (2) 1 Looker Dramidas The Party’s On with Umshumbwe. Black/white dog in lovely coat and condition. Good bone &body. Correct angulation well set tail. 2 Clayton Kendamar Dark Side Of The Moon for Galvizach. Lovely chocolate, moved well. Head has not coarsened with age. Good coat.

PD (4) 1 Hill Sobriety Sir Thomson (BP). Very immature six month baby. Lovely in outline with nice short back. Nice head and expression. Well set tail. Good legs and feet. It will be interesting to see how he develops. 2 Samuels Spellcast Urban Legend with Runestone. Another six month baby not as together as the winner. Lovely dark well set eye. Slightly longer in loin. 3 Rogerson & Quayle Nosregor Kateandy Cregg-na-bay.

JD (6,1) 1 O’Loughlin Liubice Crazy Diamond for Caoilta. White dog with excellent pigmentation. In lovely coat and condition. Coat of correct harsh texture. Good head and expression. Good mover but can stand closes in front. 2 Rogerson Nosregor Kateandy Mhoogi Dhoo. Rich chocolate slightly longer in back than the winner and coat a little soft. Correct angulation. 3 Corkin Nixtev Kinectic under Fouranfass.

PGD (6,1) 1 Winser Pennypot Enigma of Lysebourne. Very busy dog always on the move. In good coat and condition. Nice in outline, balanced throughout a quality dog. Noted he was the litter brother of my BOB. 2 Calvert Red Alert Mature upstanding masculine chocolate dog. Good bone and body with good legs and feet. Nice head ears could be slightly smaller to advantage. Moved well round the ring. 3 Day Danack’s Bill Bailey.

LD (5) 1 Connor Galvizach Xrated. Black not in full coat. Quality head and expression. Good body. Nice size. 2 Chambers Musique Executive Decision Shaded dog, nice on outline. Good legs and feet. Well set tail. Nice eye and expression. 3 Calvert Red Alert.

OD (7,2) 1 Beard Ch. Wyndlee Chandera Spectre (DCC). Lovely young orange dog maturing nicely .Lovely head pattern. Good coat and condition. Well ribbed up with good body. Moved well. 2 Hewett Ch. Spellcast Talk To Me JW (RDCC). Black dog nice head and outline. Neat ears well carried. Good front. 3 Quayle Nosregor Mandis Gift.

PB (5,1) 1 Mountain Daraydala Pink Fizz at Hocombewood. In this class would have preferred both first and second a size larger, but both only six months old. First nice in outline and very balanced good head with neat ears. Well constructed. 2 Durham Spellcast Urban Spirit. Another baby, coating up well. Nice eye. Good bite. Neat feet. 3 Williams Druitz Melisande.

JB (5,3) 1 Hookway & Bentley Galvizach The Choirgirl at Beaulion. Bitch slightly long in loin but otherwise pleasing head and general outline. 2 Holmes Wyndlee Fire & Ice. Bitch totally out of coat. Moved well. Nice well placed eye, ears could be smaller.

PGB (4,1) 1 Garbutt Nixtev Kharisma. Quality cream bitch with black mask. Good bone and body. Slightly shorter loin would complete the picture. Good head and foreface. Neat feet. Moved well. 2 Beard Wyndlee Chandera Dotty Dotty. Very pretty black/white parti-colour. Nice in outline. Good coat. Well presented. Nice ear placement. Good pigmentation. 3 Bray Abbicher Lily Langtree.

LB (3,1) 1 O’Loughlin Caoilta Virago. Lovely cream bitch. Excels in outline and overall balance with well carried head and tail. Well constructed. Good mover. 2 Hookway & Bentley Wyndlee Dear Prudence at Beaulion. Black lacking size and substance compared to the winner. Nice head and pigment, coat just coming through.

OB (7,2) 1 Orchard Pennypot Enchantress with Spilmah (BCC)(BOB). Some excellent bitches in this class with the first two excelling in overall type and construction. First lovely black in good condition. Good in outline, balanced throughout. Excellent head with true spitzy expression. Moved very well in all directions. 2 Chambers Nosregor Bewitched for Musique (RBCC). Beautifully presented chocolate of good quality. Lovely head with neat ears. Good body with level topline held on the move. Well set tail. Moved well. 3 Duke & Gardner Desaria Fanny Ann at Brookwell.
