Critique
My pleasure to judge the Mittels at this well run club show. I was delighted with the entry and the overall quality although I did find the wide variation in type difficult in some classes. I enjoyed judging the finals with Liz Cartledge and we agreed on all decisions.
VD(4) 1st Hewett Ch Spellcast Talk To Me, almost 9yo, squarely built blk and cleanly put together, oval shaped well placed dark eye, good front down to tidy feet, decent hindquarters, stepped out soundly, BV. 2nd Mulholland Ch Zephoon Spook The Tempest, 7.1/2 yo, close up here and super to go over, masculine without exaggeration, shown in quality coat, not quite so positive in action. 3rd Johanneson Int Ch Rossfort Piccolo.
MPD(5) 1st Cook & Clayton Studholme Moon Orbit, eyecatching parti of excellent breed type, lovely headpiece and expression from well distributed attributes, ribs developing, firm topline, short coupled, high set curled tail, moderate turn to stifle, free mover who just needs to tighten a touch in front, RCC & BPIS. 2nd Clayton Studholme Moon Walk, brown I see is litter brother and many of the same comments apply, as yet not as settled in his showing so not projecting himself to the same advantage. 3rd King Grizwold Moon Song.
PD(3,1abs) 1st Clayton Studholme Moon Shades, another brown from the same litter, still quite raw but of good shape and type with arch to neck and well shaped eyes, another who needs to settle in action, quality coat coming. 2nd Saich Lindcoly Cheeko Time, larger brown with expressive eye, would prefer better front assembly and action, well ribbed up for age, high set tail and gentle definition to hindquarters, erratic mover.
JD(6) 1st Hearson Nixtev Uraxys at Jumasue, masculine cream, neatly constructed, has width to skull and to be critical I felt ears could be a tad higher set, dark well placed eye, decent front assembly, very well ribbed up, firm in topline and tail set high, defined turn to stifle, easy true mover shown in full coat. 2nd Thomas Daraydala Lorenzo, blk, good for shape and type, very cleanly put together, well proportioned headpiece, dark eye, arch to moderate neck, well ribbed up, good topline and tailset, steady mover. 3rd Hamer Borndownda Talking Heads of Clarmer.
PGD(7,2) 1st King Grizwold Loki, orange, super sound and beautifully put together, clean well laid out head with super dark eyes of good shape, balanced muzzle with good pigmentation, best of fronts, short coupled, easy free mover. 2nd Orr Sobriety Jack Daniels, dark cream, masculine without exaggeration, head balanced with dark eye, sound front, slightly longer in loin, level topline and high set tail, true moving. 3rd Clayton Studholme Kiss of Ozzy.
LD(6,1) 1st Saich Zephon Akio at Lindcoly, typy sable with much appeal, compact with a masculine head well carried on strong neck, good for eye and expression, straight front, well ribbed and back, gentle turn to stifle, free mover in full coat. 2nd Mullholland Zephon The Last Samurai, handy black, eye dark but not quite the expression of 1, reasonable front, moved out true enough, quality coat. 3rd Garbutt Nixtev Tyxeros.
OD(12,1) What a delight to see such a ring full of quality contenders, alas several I really liked went cardless. 1st Hewett Ch Spellcast Secrets and Lies, lovely lad of exceptional quality, very well balanced in the correct outline, masculine but clean head with attributes well laid out, best of fronts down to tidy feet, well ribbed up, firm in topline with tail carried high, super hindquarters with which me moved out smoothly, never put a foot wrong to take the CC, BOB & later with co judge Liz Cartledge BIS. 2nd Chambers Ch Musique Worth The Wait, rusty brown who is also so well balanced which is confirmed in his action, good for type and expression, decent front assembly with hindquarters to match. 3rd Johanneson Multi Ch Rossfort Rising Sun.
VB(2) 1st Mountain Daraydala Pink Fizz at Hocombewood, Lt brown approaching 8yo, very well balanced in clean outline, head features all complimenting one another, moderate stop, width to front and straight forelimbs, well ribbed up and firm in loin, picks up a little but is sound. 2nd Hall Spilmah Affair Tob at Pufnstuf, 8.1/2 yo Bkl & wh parti, good for type, preferred leg length on 1, dark eye, shown in full quality coat.
MPB(2) 1st Hamer Clarmers Mischief Making, white who presents a very balanced outline, head still to break and carried on a moderately arched neck, dark eyes of oval shape, very good front assembly, ribs developing, firm topline and high tail carriage, sound true mover who scored in front. 2nd Clayton Studholme Moon River, parti of good type, well placed dark eyes, prefer more forechest, ribs quite well developed for age, level topline and tail carried high, quality coat coming.
PB(2) 1st Bennett Musique Mariella at Melitabe & 2nd Chambers Musique Charismatic, my notes say not much to separate them and I now see they are litter sisters, heads well laid out with reasonable neck and front, ribs quite well sprung, firm topline and high set tail, some definition to hindquarters, 1 just scored slightly in front action.
JB(5,1) 1st Barnes Spellcast Talking About Me, smart blk of good type, well placed dark eyes, best of fronts here, arch to neck, well ribbed up with firm topline, gentle turn to stifle, well turned out and handled, sound mover. 2nd Mountain Musique Hot to Trot at Hocombewood, brown with width to skull, ears set high, moderate stop and reasonable eye, straight forelimbs, ribs well developed for age, good topline with tail set very high, steady mover. 3rd Saich Zephon The Thunderstorm at Lindcoly.
PGB(6,3) 1st Mulholland Zephon Akane, liked this sable for type and balance, expressive dark eye well placed, reasonable front, clean neck, ribs well sprung, level topline with tail set and carried high, turn to stifle, shown in quality coat and a free mover. 2nd Saich Zephon The Thunderstorm at Lindcoly, blk who presents a balanced outline with dark eyes and ears well placed, quite good front, ribs developing, high set tail and sound rear, steady mover. 3rd Alfred Rossfort Violet Elizabeth at Teamor.
LB(11,2) 1st Andrew Dagsljus Against all Odds at Claran, admired this sables make and shape very much but just wished there was a little more of her, she presents a very smart package, is so soundly put together and moves out like a dream, attentive to her handlers every action they made a great partnership. 2nd Blight Flamuna Curtain Call for Rosechow, blk of a handy size who is very well balanced, good neck, width to chest, well ribbed up and firm in topline, high set tail, moderately defined hindquarters, steady mover. 3rd Clewer Spellcast Tell A Tail at Bullbo.
OB(8,2) Very interesting class. 1st Garbutt Ch Nixtev Tantalize, this young lady caught my eye early on but she was making life difficult for her handler with her over exuberance but did finally settle to the job and could not be denied the class and ultimately the CC, she projects a super upstanding, clean, balanced outline, her head is very well laid out with a soft expression and dark pigmentation, super neck and front assembly down to good feet, sufficient rib and firm topline , modelled hindquarters, very active mover with precision. 2nd Barnes Ch Spellcast Talk to Da Tail, this girl was so close up and splitting hairs to separate them, she too has a lovely eye and expression, width to front and well ribbed, firm in topline and loin with gentle turn to stifle, in the final run off just not quite as positive in front as 1 but well deserving of RCC. 3rd Hamer Ir Ch Wyndlee Silver Lightning of Clarmer.
Brace (5,3) 1st Hewitt well matched pair of blacks who moved in harmony to clinch a win from Thomas who were also of good breed type.
