Critique

One of the positive developments I noted in this entry, which only had one absentee, was the preponderance of correct oval shaped eyes. There were very few round ones, now if only we can get more of the oblique set, please! Coats were, as per this time of the year, better for some and others right out of coat. As long as the texture was correct, it was only a minor consideration for me.

PD (3): 1, Thomas’Daraydala Lorenzo, 8 month black pup with excellent head and expression, outline, balance, having correct eye shape, ok ear set, vg neck and forehand, vg body development, well ribbed back with short strong loin and vg tail. He has excellent coat for density and texture, excellent free and positive gait, Best Puppy and a very good prospect for the future.; 2, Hamer’s Borndownunda Talking Heads of Clarmer Aus Imp, 10 ½ month gold dog which right now is blowing coat and going through the “junior” stage, but he has an excellent head and expression, vg eye shape, high tail set, ok ear set but they could be neater. On the move he has good positive action. At this time he needs a few more months to body up and come back into coat, but is promising pup.; 3, J. Smith’s Spellcast You Talkin to Me.

JD (1): 1, Hearson’s Nixtev Uraxys at Jumasue, 12 month old white male just out of puppy, but boy oh boy, what a handful. His owner must have the patience of a saint, as he is so naughty on the move, and just will not get his nose up off the ground. On the table, when he has no choice but to stand with his head up, he presents a square outline, masculine head and expression, correct eye shape, good ear set and use; VG neck and forehand, excellent substance, correct straight, harsh, off standing coat. He is an exciting prospect, if only he can get his act together, and learn what moving in a show ring is all about. I hope his owner will prevail; his quality and breed type is too good.

PGD (5): 1, Holmes’ Maxinamillion 2 ½ yr old wolf sable, at the lower end of the standard, but still within the required range. Well constructed, vg neck, forehand, good body shape, correct coat texture, excellent gait. I would like ears to be higher set and eyes more oval, as this affects the expression somewhat; 2, N. Uraxys at J. ; Davies’ Nixtev Serylius.

LD (4): 1, Garbutt’s Nixtev Torvald, excellent outline, just off square in proportions, yes, I realize he is out of coat, but it does show off his wonderful conformation, body shape, balance, and the coat that is present is of excellent texture. He has a beautiful head and expression, dark oval eyes, excellent forehand, bone and tight neat feet, excellent gait, so no hesitation in awarding him the dog CC, apparently his 3rd, congratulations; 2, Garbutt’s Nixtev Tyxeros, litter brother to the class winner and very little separating the two. He is another lovely example of the breed, in full coat with excellent texture. I preferred the eye colour of the class winner and found this one not quite as fluent in front or side gait. Otherwise an excellent prospect, so RCC.; 3, Pooley’s Wyndlee Short N’Sweet At Akaban.

OD (6): 1, Beard’s Wyndlee Jester, what a lovely brown example of the breed, I was taken with him as soon as he walked into the ring. He is a delightful almost 2 yr old male with correct pigmentation and eye colour for his rich chocolate brown coat. Masculine head and expression, vg eye shape, would like ears just a tad higher set, but otherwise, he has very correct conformation, excellent forehand, VG bone, neat tight feet, compact yet strong body well ribbed back with short strong loin, vg tail set, VG front and side gait. I was sure this would be my RCC winner, but in the challenge for some reason he just would not show and refused to put his tail up, what a pity, as I consider him of top grade quality and breed type; 2, Wright & Andrews Claran Narada, 5 yr old black male which is vg to go over for overall conformation, but does not have the required proportions or balance I look for in this breed. He has a masculine head and expression, VG eyes and ears, lovely coat, excellent forehand, neck and moves well; 3, Garbutt’s Nixtev Polarize.

JB (1): 1, Garbutt’s Oh My God Av Ostretunet (Imp Nor), 16 month old cream bitch with outstanding head and expression, this lovely typical head is just the icing on the cake, so to speak, as she also comes with an excellent body, full profuse coat with good texture, excellent high set tail, correct body proportions, beautiful bone, neat tight feet, excellent gait and one of the few today with the required buoyant personality that we so love to see in this breed. I love her and would take her home in a heartbeat, so not surprised that I ended up awarding her the bitch CC and Best of Breed.

PGB (4): A class of very mixed quality, not an easy task. 1, Beard’s Wyndlee Jenny, easy win here, for this 2 yr old compact brown bitch. Correct conformation, vg front, neat feet, vg bone, has the required substance, well ribbed back with short strong loin, vg tail set, excellent gait, would like harsher texture to coat; 2, Heslop’s Flamuna Khione, 2 yr black bitch presents a VG outline and tops this off with an attractive, feminine head and expression, good neck, good coat, VG tail and gait. Right now is needing time to develop in body and drop in chest; 3, Pooley’s Spellcast Talking Secrets with Azkaban.

LB (4): Sad to say, this class was not brilliant either, a number of poor fronts. 1, Francis, Pearce & Garbutt’s Nixtev Selenia with Longsdale, 2 yr old cream bitch with VG outline. She has a very typical head and feminine expression, VG eyes for shape and colour, VG neck and forehand. Her sturdy body is topped by an excellent harsh and profuse jacket of straight off standing coat. I would like to see a neater foot shape as she is rather long toed. Moved ok; 2, Clewer’s Spellcast Tell a Tail at Bullbo, 2 yr black possessing good head and expression. Ears are a tad large but well set and used. She has VG eyes, ok neck, body, is fairly compact, vg coat texture, ok gait.; 3, Alfred’s Rossfort Black Girl at Teamor.

OB (3,1):This class of 2 more than made up for any previous disappointments, as I consider both of these bitches of excellent quality and breed type.1, Moir’s Ch. Jansanleis Mayhem JW, as the judge which I think I started this cream bitch out on her trip to the top by awarding her best puppy in breed 2 ½ yrs ago, I am so pleased to see she has maintained so many excellent breed qualities. Obviously out of coat today, but her head, expression, eyes, ears, pigmentation, bone, excellent forehand, tight feet, body development , side and rear gait were all excellent. RCC; 2, Hamer’s Dagsljus Uptown Girl of Clarmer (imp). This 2 yr black bitch has the most exquisite head and expression, typifying the breed so well. She has excellent conformation, vg body shape and proportions. I would prefer a harsher coat and today she played her handler up a bit by insisting to crab when gaiting. Nonetheless, lovely breed type.
