Critique

Thank you to everyone that attended the club show. With very few absentees it was a great show of support for the club and myself. I cannot thank the committee enough for their warm welcome and excellent organisation. Well now down to business, over all I was very surprisingly pleased with the overall standard of my exhibits. Over all heads were much better than in past years and I struggled see too any flat feet which is somewhat surprising, because the lack of body tone and muscle was very disappointing. With exception to most of my class winners, a lot of exhibits rear movement had no drive at all. Too many exhibits did not have a straight fronts and to see their feet turning out is somewhat of putting.

1ST CH SPELLCAST SECRETS AND LIES JW. Cream 7 year old male of outstanding quality, the moment he walked into the ring he court my eye. Strong male head without being course. Black pigment with correct eyes. Good month. Well laid back shoulder on a good straighter front, leading to tight feet. Correct rear angulation which helped to keep a true top line on the move and high tail set. Course coat texture and presented in excellent condition. Lovely substance and bone, which helped to show his square out line. This dog never put a foot wrong and his movement was a joy to see, as was his temperament. He showed from the very being of the day and just got better right to the end and this is why he is a credit to the breed. BOB, BVIS & BIS. 2nd CH SPELLCAST TALK TO ME JW. Black 9 year old dog same size and square shape as the class winner. Lovely head & expression. Tight feet. Shoulder and rear angulation correct, but lost his movement going away. 3rd WYNDLEE GHOSTLY MAGIC.

1st LINDCOLY FOZZIE BEAR. 7mth old sable. Nice head and short muzzle, great eye and expression. Ears a little wide. Very good bone and square shape. Nice course coat. Not the biggest, hope see him grow on just a little bit more, but time is on his side. Needs to settle on the move. BPD & RBPIB. 2nd ZEPHON KING OF THE ROCK. White and cream parti. Pleasing head with correct dentition. Adequate bone, nice coat and well groomed. Little long in the loin which gave way to a soft top line. Got better each time he moved.

1st GRIZWOLD MOON SONG. 13 mths old sable. Pleasing head & expression. Short coupled, presenting a nice balanced over all shape. Beautiful standoff coat, with high tail set. Could be straighter on the front, but moved out very well. 2nd ZEPHON KING OF THE ROCK. 3RD GRIZWOLD MURACO MOON OVER CANEASE.

1st FLAMUNA MANI. 2 year old cream. Very top end of the measure, strong male head. Correct proportions in the body, with a good front and feet. Nice month. Nothing was over done with this dog and there was a lot to like about him. When walked round the ring this dogs movement is true. Lost out in the line-up when he was over stretched on the stand. Needs to settle on the table. 2nd NICKILA SILVER SOVEREIGN. Great looking sable dog. Everything about him was good to type. Same as first, nothing overdone. Head, feet, coat, high tail set and pleasing eye. Ears right on top of his head. What let him down today was his lack of drive on the move, hopefully this was just an off day. 3rd ZEPHON STORMCHASING

1st GRISWOLD LOKI. Smashing gold sable 2 yr old male. Head true to type, good stand-off coat, with correct texture. Nice bite and pleasing eye. Everything about him is balanced, but would really like to see a little bit more reach in the neck. Sound and true movement. This owner as made a real effort to train her dogs, it shows in all of her exhibits today. Well done. RBOB. 2nd HOCOMEWOOD HOT TODDY FOR LINCOLY. I agree with owner and we are calling him a brown sable 3 year old male. Definitely not the biggest of males, but what was there was a good spitz type. Nice short body topped off with good male head. Correct bite, with no narrowing of the muzzle. Big lovely showy coat and present beautifully. Sound movement. 3rd STUDHOLME ROLLS OF THUNDER AT LONGSDALE.

1st CH SPELLCAST JIVE TALKING. Have always liked this 3 year old black dog. Size and shape is just perfect. No over exaggeration, well placed shoulders and really nice tight elbows. Gorgeous head with lovely dark eyes. Strong front standing on little cat feet. Really free easy movement, but lacking drive today. So sorry to see him out of coat and not showing to his full potential. 2nd CH MUSIQUE WORTH WAIT. 3 YR old brown boy with much to like. Not as big as the first dog, but made up for it in his character. So pleasing to look at on the table. Standing straight on tight feet with a good front. High set tail and ear. Nice short level top line. Owner couldn’t get him move out today, what a shame. 3rd SPELLCAST SHOUT ABOUT IT.

1st SPILMAH AFFAIR TO B AT PUFNSTUF. Just shy of 9 yrs old black & white parti bitch. Very nice marking and showy course coat. Correct month. Pleasing head and used her ears well. Short in back and correct tail set. She is wide in front and it shows on the move, but when you get your hands on her she is still solid. This little girl had more muscle tone on her back end today then a lot of our younger dogs. With this tone muscle she was able still to drive well from behind. 2nd GRIZWOLD INABIKARI. Lovely to see this sable 10 year old with such character. Good square shape, nice front, feminine head and well placed ears. Carried herself well on the move, but not the drive of first place.

1st LINDCOLY WISHING IN A STAR. Litter sister to BPD. Another beautiful sable with dark pigment. Feminine head and well placed ears. Really nice bite. Correct shoulders and rear angulation. On the smaller size of the measure, hopefully she will grow on a bit. Truly square out line, nice tight elbows, with great bone. For one so young, she moved soundly from every angle. One to watch for the future. BPIB & BPIS. 2nd LINDCOLY PIXIE PRINCESS. Litter sister to first and another nice feminine bitch. Head, month correct, good coat for such a young girl. I could not get a true reading on her movement, time is on her side to get her settle down.

1st MUSIQUE CHARISMATIC. Smart 16mths old brown bitch. Nicely proportioned with a good head, good eye & correct ears carriage. Presented in immaculate condition. A bit on the fine side for my taste. Nice reach on the move, free and easy from all angles. 2nd DARAYDALA LOLA. Near 18 mths old black bitch. Nice feminine head, good shoulders and feet. Could be shorter in the loin. Just blown her coat and a little shy today. Moved ok.

1st ZEPHON THE THUNDERSTORM AT LINDCOLY. Now this 22 mths old black bitch court my eye the moment she walked into the ring. On the table she didn’t disappoint. Great head, front, tight elbows, lovely bite and short back. The tail set just right finishing off the perfect square shape. Now once I got owner to drop the lead, her movement was strong and true. Lack of training stop this bitch getting the top prize. RBB 2nd DARAYDALA CECILIA. This 2 year old feminine black bitch. Very similar to her half-sister in the last class. Front a little too wide and out at the elbows. Needs a lot more training to help bring this dog out of its shell, which showed in her movement.

1st SPELLCAST TALKING SECRETS WITH AZKABAN. Just coming up to 5yrs old, nice size black bitch. Liked the overall substance of this girl. Well laid shoulders, nice spring in the rib, without looking over down. Well angulated front and rear, well balanced and moved with drive. Just lost her spark in the line-up. 2nd HOCOMEWOOD PARTY POPPER AT DRUITZ. Now this 3 year old sable bitch could easily switch places with first on another day. Just the same qualities as first, head, shoulders, top tail and feet. This girl had a better tail set then first, but not the drive on the move. 3rd ROSSFORT BLACK GIRL AT TEAMOR.

1ST SPELLCAST TALK TO DA TAIL. Very flashy 3 year old cream. Everything was there on this bitch, head, straight front, tight feet, course coat, nice firm back end, finishing with a perfect tail set. Top line never dropped on the move, with a near perfect side gate. I would like a bit more bone, but that doesn’t take away from the quality of this bitch. BB & BOS.
