Critique
I would like to thank WELKS committee for this invitation, it was an honour to judge this breed for my first time awarding CCs. It was also a pleasure to judge these particular dogs as many of my main winners were related. Thank you to all who entered.
PD (1) 1 BP, Hewett & Barnes’ Spellcast Talk Tidee, brown, correct for size & shape, excellent for substance, head of correct proportions developing, good eye pigment & shape, correct dentition, liked his overall balance, one to watch for future, neat feet, correct bone for size, was alone in first class & needed to settle, displayed typical movement.
JD (4,1a) 1 S Talk Tidee; 2 Saich’s Lindcoly Mischief Maker, 13 months, when on four feet he has a great shape, enough substance for size, pleasing expression & head proportions, good bite, good body proportions, balanced angulation, excelled on the move; 3 Bridle & Shutlar-Bond’s Sirchray Ampel Time.
PGD (3) 1 Hearson’s Nixtev Uraxys at Jumasue, I really liked this dog’s shape, size & substance, very neat head made up of good proportions, good bite, good body, well ribbed, balanced angulation, moved out so well, effortless brisk action; 2 Hall’s Sobriety’s Grizzly Bear for Pufnstuf, another dog, super to go over, very good size & substance, pleasing head, good eye & pigment, moved a little wide in front initially. Really came together & his overall shape improved on further movement, may swap places on another day; 3 Hughes & Forrester’s Grizwold Muraco Moon over Candease.
LD (5,3) 1 Clayton’s Studholme Dark Moon, 1 & 2 very different dogs, 1 large & balanced with pleasing head, enough substance, good body, moved well; 2 Cook & Clayton’s Studholme Moon Orbit, this one had head like 1, pleasing shape & proportions, super compact well knit shape but not enough neck to balance, super dog on the move, lost out on overall balance to 1.
OD (5) 1 CC & BOB, Williams’ Spellcast Talk To Da Paw at Trebettyn, a class of great movers, headed by this boy who would not be ignored, all male! Excelled in balance & substance, if not a little over the top for height, excellent head proportions & super eye, very good body with correct angulations giving him the ability to move as he does, no exaggeration, brisk & effortless, alert always, became a champion on the day; 2 RCC, Smith’s Ch Spellcast Jivetalking, brother to 1 & already a champion, is a scaled down version of his brother & with all the qualities, on the day did not hold his ears as well as his brother; 3 King’s Ch Grizwold Loki.
PB (4) 1 Conway & Oakden’s Fisherbloom Moon River, sable heading this mixed class, none had it all going on, pleasing overall shape & size, prefer more substance, prefer better head to balance, moved well; 2 Pooley’s Azkaban Keep The Faith, what a disappointment! For shape & attitude she excels, unfortunately just not enough of her, missing many of breed requirements, excellent on the move; 3 Church & Bamford’s Fisherbloom Blue Moon with Claricheon.
JB (4,1) 1 Hamer & Cree’s Clarmers Best Buds with Gibbcree, very nicely proportioned bitch, great shape with good substance, very pleasing head shape & expression, feminine, so well put together, eventually she settled & moved so well; 2 Claytons’ Galvizach Moon Chimes, similar applies to this girl, feminine, good body & shape, moved so well, preferred head on 1; 3 Clewer’s Bullbo Over The Moon.
PGB (3,1) 1 Alfred’s Nixtev Vitesse at Teamor, general appearance, balanced, feminine, pleasing head & expression, good pigment, correct bite, enough body, excitable, moved well enough to win this class; 2 Saich’s Lindcoly Pixie Princess, smart black, not the overall balance of 1, very pleasing head & expression, good eye, moved well in profile, slightly wider in front but excellent behind.
LB (5,1) 1 CC, Pooley’s Spellcast Talking Secrets with Azkaban, black, typy with all this kennels attributes, such good proportions, superb head & expression, balanced with body, bone & substance, excellent balanced effortless movement; 2 Winser’s Lysebourne Aaliyah, super feminine, very pleasing head proportions, expression spoilt by lack of pigment, excellent body & shape, moved well between her moments of do I or don’t I & sitting; 3 Hughes & King’s Zephon Akane.
OB (5,2) 1 RCC, Moir’s Ch Jansanleis Mayhem, gold, quality female in excellent condition, correct head & expression, super shape, good body & bone, super on the move, shown well & very sympathetically, had thought she may have been my CC winner, unfortunately just lost enthusiasm in the challenge; 2 Clewer’s Spellcast Tell A Tail at Bullbo, very typical, not much wrong on examination, excellent body shape, so sound on the move, in my notes I wrote: ears not settled & lack lustre; 3 King’s Druitz Cariad Bach of Grizwold.
