Critique
The entry was so small, I can’t really make any overall comments as to the ‘state of the breed’, other than to watch maximum size, too many were pushing the measure, & also a concern on length of muzzle. The Standard states that the muzzle is to be ‘approximately half the length of head’, which I take to mean not quite equal. Several were actually half the length, giving a very different look. On the other hand, some others were decidedly shorter, also affecting the overall expression.
PD (1) 1 Rogerson’s Longsdale’s Rumour Has It with Nosrego, 7 months, still needs time to get himself together as quite loose on the move. Very good head & expression, excellent ear set, beautiful eye shape & colour. Currently is longer in loin than I would like, but that could change as he matures. BPD.
JD (1) 1 Hewitt & Barnes’ Spellcast Talk Tidee, 11 months choc, oversized & just too much of him overall for me. Having said that, he has very good head, expression & earset, along with correct pigmentation & eye colour for his coat colour. OK in rear, not so clever in the front.
PGD (1) 1 Saich’s Lindcoly Fozzie Bear, 2 years sable dog of medium size overall, good earset, eyes could be darker to advantage, he has good body shape, neat feet, good tailset. Shoulders rather upright, leading to short neck & tends to stand & move cow hocked in rear.
LD (2) 2 very different dogs. 1 Saich’s Hocombewood Hot Toddy for Lindcoly, I considered this dog more typical for breed type, balance, conformation, coat texture & movement. He has very good overall head & expression, though has a few slightly misaligned bottom incisors; 2 Hall’s Sobriety’s Grizzly Bear for Pufnstuf, 2 years oversized choc male who has such a show off attitude, guaranteed to get him a second look in variety classes, I bet! Very strong bone & body throughout, excellent eyes & ears not too big. Upright shoulders affected his front gait & would like stronger rear pasterns.
OD (3) Up until this class, I was wondering if this appointment would mean withholding CC cards in males, but not to worry, when this class came in, it was with relief that I looked at the line-up. 1 O’Leary’s Ch/Ir Ch Amoyalois Rufus for Cadasaro, 3½ years wolf/s & white parti dog possessing excellent outline & overall balance. Would not like him 1 mm taller as he is exactly at 15 inches at the top of his withers. To be picky, I would like darker eyes on him, but the overall effect of head & expression is pleasing, with correct shape of eye & well used ears that could be a tad neater in size. Excellent overall conformation, body shape & pleasing true, light easy gait in all directions. His coat for me was the best in the entry for correct texture. CC & BOB; 2 Saich’s Zephon Akio at Lindcoly, 3½ years wolf/s of medium size overall, another with pleasing balance, having very good head & expression, but would like a bit more fill under the eyes. Ears are well placed & used, very good front, excellent body shape, very good coat & very good gait, for me, an altogether tidy & pleasing package of breed type. RCC; 3 Thomas’ Dutch Ch Daraydala Lorenzo of Kelmorespitz.
PB (2,1a) 1 O’Leary’s Cadasaro Lets Parti, 9 months wolf/s & white parti bitch with excellent head & expression, lovely dark eyes of very good shape, ears well set but are at this point in her development a bit tall for her head. No doubt with maturity, they will balance with head. She has very good body being well ribbed back with short loin, very good rear for muscle, OK tailset, very god coat. Excellent gait. Given time, she will be winning those green cards, as I consider her a force for the future! BPB & BP.
JB (1) 1 Hewitt & Barnes’ Spellcast Now Ya Talkin, 11 months choc bitch having attractive outline & expression. Correct pigmentation to match coat. Good body shape, & very good coat. She is very lively & alert, a true Spitz in temperament being quite buoyant! Unfortunately, her shoulder layback & upper arm inhibit correct front action, tending to almost hackney.
PGB (1) 1 Saich’s Lindcoly Wishing On A Star, 2 years wolf/s bitch with attractive head & expression, neat ears, very good eye shape, good front & correct body being well ribbed back with short loin & not too wide in front. She has a very good rearquarters development, & very good coat. Another one with 2 incisors slightly out of alignment.
LB (1) 1 Pooley’s Spellcast Talking Secrets with Azkaban, 4 years black bitch who is right now out of coat, but that condition does not hide her excellent conformation & overall correct balance. She has an attractive feminine head with bright enquiring expression, very good ears, eyes. Excellent bone, good feet, & excellent gait. Tends to drop her tail, but please do persevere. Would like her a tad shorter in body length & with an outer coat that could be straighter.
OB (2) 1 Barnes, Mann & Hewitt’s Spellcast Talking About Me, 3 years black bitch with excellent outline, just off square. Her earset could be higher, but other than that I love her overall expression & head. She has an excellent forehand, balanced angles fore & aft, very good spring of rib well ribbed back with short loin, excellent tailset. Excellent rear & very good side gait. CC; 2 O’Leary’s Ir Ch Utopia Aus Dem Norden at Cadasaro, 3 years white bitch having excellent head & expression, very good eye shape, but as often happens with the whites, tear staining can affect overall impression. Good front & excellent bone down to tight feet. Excellent tail & wonderfully muscled in rearquarters with excellent rear & side gait to match. She is not quite as compact as the class winner, but otherwise, is close up, no doubt will gain her UK crown with ease. RCC
