Critique
Thank you to the exhibitors for their support in bringing some fabulous dogs under me. There is quality coming through from the younger classes which bodes well for the future of the breed. I was looking for a compact outline, something which needs to be addressed as an increasing number are longer than they are tall. Fronts in general are good, with well-developed fore chests. A few were moving close behind. All exhibits were under the measure and mouths were generally good.
MPD (3,1). 1. Chambers’ Druitz By Design For Musique. Compact puppy with good outline for his age. Harsh coat coming . Head developing well with a good wedge. Neat, well placed ear and oval eye giving a friendly yet intelligent expression. Moderate length of neck, set into well laid shoulders, balanced rear to match. Well ribbed up , level back with high set tail. Moved well in profile, straight coming and going. 2. Holloway’s Nixtev Yago. Well off for bone, this boy was longer cast than 1 and not quite so steady on the move. Lovely head and expression, contrasted with dark oval eye. Ears not as neat as 1. Very mature in front quarters with well-developed fore chest and brisket. Needs to develop in rear.
PD (0) JD (1,1). 1. Hewett & Barnes’ Spellcast Talk Tidee. Well-developed youngster. Lovely wedge head, with moderate stop, eyes harmonising with colour. Moderate bone. Well ribbed up and strong, short loin. Moved straight coming and going, maintaining level topline.
YD (0). PGD (1). 1. Hearson’s Nixtev Uraxys At Jumasue. Outstanding wedge head, with good breadth to skull and muzzle. Lovely eye, dark pigment. Ears could be better set. Short coupled with good bone, standing straight in front, another with a strong fore chest. Moved well in side profile and coming, narrow going away.
LD (3,2) 1. Cook & Clayton’s Studholme Moon Orbit. Such a balanced dog, in firm condition, which was reflected in his movement. He covered the ground in an effortless gait . Broad wedge head, with moderate stop. Oval eye giving alert expression, finished off with neat, well set ears. Well laid shoulder, good length of upper arm, straight front with neat cat like feet. Well ribbed up with short, firm loin and moderately angled rear quarters, well let down in hock. High set tail. This boy was really sparkling today, delighted to him CC & BOB.
OD (4,0). 1. Smith’s Ch. Spellcast Jivetalking. RCC. Compact dog, with a very balanced outline. Quality wedge head with neat well placed ears. Well placed shoulder, in hard muscle. Well ribbed up with short, strong loin. Moved with brisk, ground covering action. 2. Garbutt’s Nixtev Polarize. Stronger type than 1, not so interested in showing his virtues today. Lovely head with moderate stop. Not as neat in eye and ear as 1. Strong front, with well boned straight legs. Moved well in profile. 3. Chamber’s Ch. Musique Worth The Wait. GCD (0).
MPB (4,0) 1. Williams’ Druitz Simply The Best. BP. Very mature puppy for age. Lovely head pattern with good width to muzzle. Moderate bone, compact outline with good angulation all round, moved steadily from all directions. Well presented in harsh coat. Moved steadier than her litter brother in challenge for BP. 2. Garbutt’s Nixtev Yazara. Immature in body at present. Excellent bone, with good feet. Longer in loin than 1. Moved ok once settled. 3. Pearce & Francis’ Longsdale’s One And Only.
PB (1,1). JB (3,0). Two excellent quality youngsters, felt that 1 was just more finished on the day. 1. Hewett & Barnes’ Spellcast Now Ya Talkin. RCC. Short coupled bitch & well-muscled up, presenting a good outline maintained on the move. Broad in head, yet feminine. Well sprung ribs, mature in fore chest . Good quarters. High set tail . Presented in excellent condition to show off her virtues. 2. Hamer, Hamer & Cree’s Ch. Clarmers Best Buds With Gibbtree. Smaller than 1, but very well proportioned. Very pretty head with balanced outline. Yet to fully mature in fore chest and brisket. Moved well in profile. 3. Purves & Purves’ Bulabs Blonde Lady.
YB (1,0). 1. Clewer’s Bullbo Over The Moon. Very sound bitch, moved freely in all directions. Broad, wedge head. Lovely eye. Strong boned, straight legs. Slightly long cast.
PGB (3,1). 1. Heslop’s Flamuna Khione. Quality bitch. Out of coat, harsh coat coming through. Good proportions to skull and muzzle. Good front and rear angles. High set tail. Very compact bitch, good spring of rib and short, strong loin. Moved out well. 2. Bennett’s Musique Mariella at Melitabe. Smaller , very stylish bitch. Pretty, wedge head, with good stop. Full of high spirits today. Moved well in profile.
LB (3,0). 1. Alfred’s Nixtev Vitesse At Teamor. CC. Super outline, short coupled, with strong boned straight legs. Level topline, maintained on the move. Beautiful wedge head, dark eye with alert expression. Moderate neck set into well laid shoulder and upper arm to balance. Well defined fore chest and brisket , matched by well-proportioned rear, allowing her to move freely and effortlessly around the ring when she finally settled. She gave her handlers a hard time but in the challenge she steadied to show her full ability. 2. Pooley’s Spellcast Talking Secrets With Azkaban. Very balanced bitch of excellent type. Compact outline with good quarters front and rear. Lovely in body and head. Insisted on dropping her tail. 3. Purves & Purves’ Bulabs Leading Lady.
OB (2,0) 1. Barnes, Mann & Hewett’s Ch. Spellcast Talking About Me. Short coupled bitch, presented immaculately. Lovely head pattern with dark, oval eye and neat ears. Well assembled front and rear quarters. Good spring of rib. Strong in loin. High set tail. Preferred her more compact outline to 2. 2. Clewer’s Spellcast Tell A Tail At Bullbo. Very similar qualities to 1, but not quite the expression of 1. Ears slightly wide set. Good side profile action with good reach in front, moving narrow behind. GCB (0).
