After judging the Klein variety at Blackpool, the previous week, I found these more difficult. Like the Kleins, there are too many which could use more leg to balance them. Open Dog was, however, full of quality typy dogs, class of the day, with the puppy bitch class also full of promise.
PD (3) 1 Chambers' Musique Azlan. 6 months, compact and balanced and scored in head and ears. Very good coat. Can fill out in front. I liked his leg length and ear set to win this. 2 Barnes & King's Spellcast Talk With Me. 8 months, lovely size and outline. More finished in chest than the winner. Lovely eyes. Ears a little low set. Tends to stand a little long and this detracted; when he pulled himself together when I was writing this critique, he looked much better!! A pity. 3 Adams' Fisherbloom Too Funky.
JD (4) 1 Chambers' Druitz By Design For Musique. 17 months, easy winner for head and balance and good action. Good head but his eyes could be smaller and darker. Good brisk action. 2 Roberts' Longsdale Turning Tables At Cwrtafon. 15 months cream dog, a touch long for balance. Sound mover. Not in his best coat. I preferred head and ears of the winner. 3 Saich's Hocombewood Ace Of Spades At Lindcoly.
PGD (1) 1 Day's Sobriety's Born To Be Wild. 5 years parti-coloured, a little long for balance. Good head and eyes. Ears set a little wide. Sound action. Needs more positive handling.
LD (1) 1 Saich's Lindcoly Mischief Maker. My apologies but I have mislaid my critique for this class.
OD (10) 1 Smith's Ch Spellcast Jivetalking. 2 year old black, short, compact and excellent construction. Beautiful face. Eyes could be a shade darker. Excellent on the move, a real Spitz in type and character. A good winner for me. CC & BOB. 2 Williams' Ch Spellcast Talk To Da Paw At Trebettyn ShCM. Almost 2 years, slightly longer. Beautifully presented. Not quite as finished in front as the winner. Lovely carriage. Made an excellent outline. RCC. 3 Hall's Sobriety's Grizzly Bear For Pufnstuf JW.
PB (7) 1 Williams & Williams' Dulais Moonlight Over Paris At Trebettyn. 8 months, beautiful type and balance, squarely built and with good bone. Correct outline and tail. Great promise. Stood out for me in the bitch line up and won CC & BP. 2 Taylor's Clarmers Mischief Managed Under Tispitza. 9 months black, a touch long for balance, lovely head and eye. Brisk action. Good coat and tail. 3 Hall's Spellcast Lets Ava Talk At Pufnstuf.
JB (1) 1 Thomas & Hull's Clarmers Talking Mischief With Kelmorespitz. 9 months black, reserve in puppy class, a little short on the leg for balance, but moved well. Very good head and eyes. Ears could be a little smaller.
PGB (1) 1 Bennett's Musique Mariella At Melitabe. 3 year old brown, very good head, eye and ears. I'd prefer a little more bone to her. Not in her best coat. Hind action could be better.
LB (3) 1 Hewett & Barnes' Spellcast Now Ya Talkin JW. Brown, a little long for balance but she was in excellent coat, has a beautiful head and excellent ears. Very good movement. 2 Pearce & Francis' Longsdale's One & Only. 20 months, a little shorter in body, but she is a little short on the leg. Very good head. Ears a little large. Out of coat on the day.
OB (3) 1 O'Leary's Ch Utopia Aus Dem Norden At Cadasaro. 3 years old white, a little short in the leg. Scored in ribs and movement. She would look much better with less weight on her. Won RCC. 2 Barnes, Mann & Hewett's Ch Spellcast Talking About Me. 4 years, my winner standing for balance but not in her best coat or body and hence moving close behind - a pity! I am sure she will look a different bitch when in form.
