Thank you to the society for my invitation to judge both sizes of German Spitz; we had a lovely large ring that allowed me to move the dogs under cover and still appreciate them on the move. Thank you very much to my 2 very efficient stewards and their trainee for the day.
Mittels are currently more together as a type than Kleins and tend to be on the whole sounder with more correct exhibits being shown. I was very pleased with my line ups and my 2 BOB winners represented the breed well in the group.
Windsor 2018 - German Spitz (Mittel)
Veteran dog/bitch (2,0). A top quality class to start the day. 1). Moir & Moir’s Ch. Jansanleis Mayhem JW. Super cream bitch, with all the desired breed proportions. Feminine yet broad wedge head with ears placed well on top of head. Dark oval eye, obliquely set giving such a pretty expression. She stands with an almost square outline, foot perfect at all times. Well-muscled, correctly angulated fore and rear quarters allowed her to move with extension and drive. Could not deny her the CC & BOS. 2). Andrew & Andrew’s Ch. Claran Narada. A stunning black 9 year old, fabulous head piece finished with neat, high set ears. This boy has the desired strength of body as is called for in the standard. Stands four square, being just that little bit longer in profile than 1. Good reach and drive on move when viewed in profile. Slightly narrow coming and going.
Puppy Dog (3,0). 1). Mountain’s Hocombewood Jailhouse Roc. 11 months, broad skull and muzzle. Neat ear well placed on head. Excellent pigment for his colour. Good length of neck, good front and rear assemblies. Still needs to develop in forechest and drop in brisket. Well ribbed up, short in loin and cobbier in outline than 2, winning him this class. Moved out well with a balanced stride. 2). Saich’s Lindcoly Blue Moon. Narrower head pattern than 1, but still forms a typical wedge appearance. Neat oval eye, obliquely set, colour harmonising with coat. Not quite as mature in body as 1. Moderate bone, stands fore square, with high set tail. Finished off with a coat of good texture. 3). Bennett’s Melitabe Super Trouper.
Junior Dog (2,0). 1). Saich’s Lindcoly The One An Only. Good width to skull, full muzzle, scissor bite, strong teeth. Moderate neck into well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm. Forechest is well developed. Stands straight in front. Short, strong loin. Rear angulations are equally well angled. Broader throughout than 2. Moved well in all directions. 2). Player & Waters’ Longsdale’s No Regrets At Wayworthy. This boy appears longer on the floor than he actually is when you put hands on. He has a lovely head and expression, with broad skull. Not as mature in body as 1, he still needs to develop in forechest and brisket. High set tail. Moves well in profile but still quite narrow in front.
Post Grad Dog (5,1). 1). Heslop’s Flamuna Zetes. Mature male with correct body proportions, stood out in this class. Solid substance for his medium size, excellent head proportions, with good width to muzzle and moderate stop. Oval eye and neat well placed ears give him a typical expression. Short in back, well ribbed up with a short, strong loin, he stands foursquare. Excellent front and rear assembly, moved out straight and true in all directions covering the ground well while maintaining a level topline. Finished with a harsh coat in excellent condition. 2). Barnes, King & Barnes’ Spellcast Talk With Me By Izlou. Lovely young male, losing out in maturity to 1. Broad skull & muzzle, dark oval eye, with a lovely expression. Excellent forechest, still to drop in brisket. Longer in back than 1. Gave a good account of himself on the move. Not in full coat, but harsh in texture. 3). Saich’s Lindcoly The One An Only.
Limit Dog (6,1). 1). Hewett’s Spellcast Talk Tidee. Beautiful brown male who has matured well since I last judged him. Strong dog with good width throughout. Broad skull with muzzle to match. High set ears. Neat oval eye. Straight front, excellent forechest and forequarters. Well ribbed up. Short strong loin and excellent rear. High set tail. Could benefit from moving at a faster speed as he had a tendency to pace. 2). Heslop’s Flamuna Arktouros. Mature boy in good coat. Good strength to body. Strong in head. Developed forechest, moderate angulations front and rear. Slightly narrow in front. Well off for bone. Slightly longer in profile than 1. Moved out well in all directions. 3). Chambers’ Musique Azlan.
Open Dog (5,0). 1). Smith’s Ch. Spellcast Jivetalking. This boy was on top form today and gave an eye catching performance in the ring. Compact in outline, he is perfectly put together and this shows on the move. He has a super head and expression, dark oval eye and neat well set ears. High set tail. Finished off with a harsh, gleaming coat. He moved with brisk , effortless, ground covering strides to take CC, BOB & BV. 2). O’Leary’s Ir Ch/GB Ch/ Int Ch. Amoyalois Rufus For Cadasaro (IKC). Another superb quality male with excellent body proportions, presented in excellent condition. Different head pattern to 1, still broad and with good width to muzzle. Not as neat in ear as 1. Excellent angulations to fore and rear quarters, with well-developed forechest and brisket. Super, cat-like, neat feet. Well ribbed up. Moved out with good extension and drive, so sound in all directions. RCC. 3). Hall’s Sobriety’s Grizzly Bear For Pufnstuf JW.
Puppy Bitch (4,1). 1). Barnes, King & Barnes’ Izlou Walnut Forget Me. Pretty head and expression, very feminine. Dark oval eye. Ears well placed. Good width to muzzle for her age. Lovely cat feet. Slightly flat sided and long cast at present but should change as she continues to grow and mature. Good rear angulation, with good tail set. Gave a good account of herself for one so young. 2). Saich’s Lindcoly Wishing On A Dream. Smaller bitch than 1 with a very sweet expression and neat triangular ears. Excellent bone for her size. Needs to develop in front and through ribs as is to be expected at this age. High set tail. Good coat coming through. 3). Drew’s Izlou Peanut Passion.
Post Grad Bitch (2). 1). Heslop’s Flamuna Kallisto. Brown, up to the measure. Broad feminine head. Oval eye, colour complementing coat colour. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulder. Good front and forechest . Cobby bitch with a short, strong loin. Good rear. Moved well in all directions. Not in full coat. 2). Mountain’s Hocombewood Touch Of Mink. Brown sable bitch of a smaller mould that 1. Good overall proportions. Feminine headpiece, oval eye. Ear set could be higher. Quite narrow through body. Moved well in profile, narrow coming and going. Fun, outgoing temperament.
Limit Bitch (4,1). 1). Pearce & Francis’ Kelham Love And Romance With Longsdale. Cream bitch in excellent condition. Broad in skull with well-balanced muzzle. Dark, oval eye. Such a sweet expression. Broad throughout her body with excellent forechest and developed in brisket. Strong, short loin. High set tail. Moved well in all directions, with a brisk effortless gait, maintaining a level topline at all times. 2). Taylor’s Clarmer’s Mischief Managed Under Tispitza JW. One who needs hands on to be fully appreciated. Appears long cast on the floor but when gone over she has the correct body proportions. In super, well-muscled condition. Good head proportions with an oval eye, obliquely set. Good length of neck , straight in front. Well-developed forechest, still needs to drop in brisket. Moved well in profile with good extension and drive. Slightly narrow behind. 3). Barnes, King & Barnes’ Spellcast Speaks For Itself By Izlou.
Open Bitch (3). 3 excellent bitches. 1). O’Leary’s Ir Ch. Utopia Aus Dem Norden At Cadasaro (IKC). Mature, feminine bitch in gleaming condition and well-muscled up. Broad yet feminine in head with muzzle to compliment. Dark oval eye, with black pigment. Stands foursquare. Correct body proportions throughout, with moderate angulations front and rear. Mature in body. Well ribbed up. Good tail set, had a tendency to drop on the stand. Moved fluidly in all directions with the desired reach and drive. To be hyper critical, would prefer neater feet and stronger front pasterns. Pushed hard for top honours. 2). Moir & Moir’s Ch. Jansanleis Envy JW. Another super bitch, with desired head and body proportions. Excellent ear placement. Oval, dark eye. Not quite the spring of rib of 1. Neat catlike feet. Good tail set. Gave a good account of herself, moving steadily in all directions, maintaining a level topline. 3). Andrew & Andrew’s Dagsljuis Against All Odds At Claran.
