German Spitz Club of GB Championship Show 4/11/18.
Many thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to be a replacement referee at the GSCGB Championship show. As German Spitz have now been declared a sub group, a BIS judge now has to be appointed and this is what the KC had approved me as, much to my surprise. It did cause some discussion on the day. It was an honour to judge BIS. I also enjoyed judging the handling classes immensely, some promising youngsters in the ring. I also enjoyed judging the puppy parade; they coped with the experience impeccably.
Many thanks to the Klein and Mittel judges for sending through such quality exhibits, it was an honour to judge them all.
BIS Hewett’s Spellcast Talk Tidee. Mittel. A well balanced, well angulated, strong male in his prime. He has an exquisite head piece, broad skull with good width to muzzle, expressive oval eye and neat ears. He was on top form today and on the move he showed himself off to advantage with a steady, ground covering action. Delighted to award him BIS.
RBIS Pearce & Francis’ Ch. Longsdale’s Dilemma. Klein. A beautiful bitch, presented to perfection. She presents a lovely outline, just shorter than square. Well-muscled up. Straight, well boned front, neat cat like feet. Well angulated rear. She moved with a steady gait. In full coat, so well-groomed and a high set tail finished off the picture.
BPIS Pearce & Francis’ Longsdale Heat Of The Moment. 9 month old dark brown Klein dog. I particularly liked his head with good proportion of muzzle to skull. Mature in body for his age, well ribbed up. Excellent angulations front and rear. He moved well in profile, with required extension and drive. A promising future lies ahead I’m sure. RBPIS Bennett’s Melitabe Super Trouper. 10 month old brown Mittel dog that is developing nicely. Excellent body proportions, short in back with a good length of leg. Lovely head and expression. In harsh coat. Not as settled on the move as the Klein puppy.
BVIS Smith’s Ch. Spellcast Jivetalking. Mittel. Still on top form and finished in a sparkling black harsh coat. He has such a well-balanced outline. Quality head piece with a dark expressive eye and neat ears. This well-muscled boy did not put a foot wrong, I could not deny him BVIS. RBVIS King’s Druitz Cariad Back of Grizwold ShCM. Mittel. A well put together orange bitch that is so sound on the move, covering the ground with verve. Lovely head and expression. She was pushed hard by the Klein veteran winner but her overall compact shape just gave her the edge.
Junior Handling Assoc. 6-11 years. (1,1a) 1. Mia Rose Rogerson. 8 years old. Coped well with her mischievous charge. Mia was an attentive handler, presented neat corners. Persisted to get her dog’s full attention, and when she did they showed well as a team. Handled her dog sensitively. It is clear that she has a passion for showing, she has a promising future ahead.
Junior Handling Assoc. 12-16 years. (1) 1. Isabel Woodhouse, age 14. A very sympathetic handler, she talked to her dog throughout the class encouraging her charge to perform well. Excellent shadowing, performed a T shape with straight lines and neat corners, with neat lead handover. She kept her eye on the judge at all times. Best overall junior handler.
Adult handling 17- 50 years. (2) 1. Karoline Andrew. Very attentive to her dog and to the judge at all times. Excellent shadowing, even when the dog was on the table. Neat corners, moved her dog at the correct pace. Very sympathetic handling of her dog to get the best out of her charge. 2. Sarah Wells. Interacted with her dog well. Moved steadily with neat corners. Quite attentive to the judge, not as exact with shadowing as 1.
Adult Handling 51+ years. (1) 1. Patricia Rogerson. An excellent role model. Excellent shadowing, attention to detail with a dog that wasn’t easy to shadow with. Moved steadily, encouraging her dog at all times. Very consistent handing.
Niki Allison, Judge.
