CRUFTS - 2020
GERMAN SPITZ - MITTEL
My thanks to everyone for allowing me to go over their exhibits. It was an honour to
take over Glenys Bradbury’s entry on the day and I wish her good health. I was most pleased with my principal winners and the entry contained many good quality and well presented exhibits. Some exhibits, however, were short in coat and as with Kleins I saw a few short steppers which showed up on the round.
VD. (4,1) 1. King’s Ch Grizwold Loki. BV. 7yrs old Orange who demanded attention with his well shaped head, good wedge and bite and scored in eye, ears and neck. Compact and strong, with plenty of bone, level topline and moved out well with a pleasing side gait. 2. Saich’s Hocombewood Hot Toddy for Lindcoly. Showy brown with good head proportions, well shaped and carried ears and held a good topline. Hind action let him down a little but moved quite well coming on. 3. Smiths Ch Spellcast Jivetalking.
PD. (2) 1. Blights Izlou Float Ma Boat. BP. Compact, with balanced headpiece, well set ears, just enough neck and an excellent topline in profile. Balanced mover both ways and covering the ground well. 2. Barnes & King. Izlou Shiver me Timbers. Litter brother to 1 and has similar qualities, though not quite the substance. Pleased in head, neck and overall shape and once settled moved out well both ways. These two will be challenging one another all the way.
JD. (2) 1. Pearce, Francis & Roberts’ Longsdales Rebel Rouser at Cwrtafon. JW. Compact black with presence. Balanced all through and really looks the part. Scored in head, eye and expression, with plenty of bone and is correct in loin and rib. A sound and good mover, his topline and tailset were shown to advantage on the round. Had a good look at him in the challenge. He will progress. 2. Birtles Kelham I Dreamed a Dream to Rokeland. Well presented and pleased in head, eye and ears. Not the substance of 1 and a little long cast, but moved out quite well once settled.
PGD. (5,2) 1. Odgaard Amling’s Mittlapps Adventurous Phoenix. DK JUCH 19. Nice for size and shape, small, but well balanced in head and body with neat ears and feet and scored in topline and tailset. Moved well both ways. 2. Saich. Lindcoly Blue Moon. Strong head with good wedge, plenty of bone and has well set and carried ears. A little long cast, but pleased in topline. Moved out well going away. 3. Bridles. Sirchray Ampel Time.
LD. (5) 1. Garbutt & Corkins’ Nixtev Zeventis. DCC. BOB. Just coming up to three yrs old and maturing, this quality Black is well made and nice for size and type and was so well handled and presented. Quite a showman with a good head and wedge, plenty of bone, well set and carried ears, clean neck and scored in rib and loin. Balanced all through, lovely side gait and profile and holding a level topline whilst moving out so well both ways. 2. Pearce & Francis’ Longsdales Now or Never. Not quite the sparkle of 1 and not the substance and bone. However he is all of a piece, with a balanced head, pleasing expression and scores in neck, topline and tailset. Once settled moved out quite well. 3. Barnes & King’s Spellcast Talk with Me by Izlou.
OD. (8,2) 1. O’ Learys CH/IR/INT CH. Amoyalois Rufus For Cadasaro. Jun Ch. RDCC. Quality and belying his age, this lad is a showman and demands attention. First class mover both ways and pushed winner hard. 2. Roberts’ Ch Longsdales Turning Tables at Cwrtafon. Another nice one who pleased in head shape, bite, eye and expression. Just enough
