Critique
GERMAN SPITZ (MITTEL)
Welcome to the Mark2 edition of this critique, the prompt original
having disappeared somewhere into the ether between my mobile & OD.
Appreciate your trust & patience.
Please read the preamble to the Klein critique that explains my thoughts on the
specifics of the breed & where I was coming from.
Appreciated the entry of 42 exhibits with just 7 away. Am seeking to avoid repeating
the breed standard time & again, but rather to highlight what points & factors made
the difference in the placings. Erring on the side of caution, the colour definitions all
came from you!
Grateful to our stewards for keeping on our case across Kleins also.

1st: DURHAM, Mrs L. Spellcast Hear Your Talk (AI)
rising 5yrs blk in an ex, hard, jacket with profuseness over neck & shoulders; loved
his expressive, wedge, head with its oblique eye & moderate stop; well ribbed up
through to a well placed & carried tail; firm in hock & went well behind; a touch long
in body & came on loose in front. BestSB
MPD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: DOHENY, Miss Catherine L & KING, Miss. Izzy Izlou Thai Me Up; 7m
orange sable, runner up for the best name! Nothing worth criticising at this
tender age; secure, with moderate angulation, front & back; ex head type with
pigment; moderately short in neck & almost square in body; well ribbed &
level; correct coat type; v. sound, being brisk & confident; should make the
grade for sure.
Class 1258 PD NO ENTRIES
JD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: ANDREW, Ms Karoline. Izlou You Know You Love Me of Claran; 17m blk
who must have been in with a chance, given I now see is litter brother to the
Bitch CC & sired by the BOB; superior headpiece from broad, flattish skull,
clean cheeks & proportionate muzzle; so expressive via oval eye & small ear;
rounded in rib; well knit; moderate, balanced, angles; tad loose & elbow
coming on; firm in rear & a v neat mover, circuiting, showing off profuse
double coat & tail curled over back. Dog Reserve Challenge Certificate
2nd: O' LEARY, Mr K. Cadasaro Fights On; 13m cream so giving age away that
made a difference; nose pigment a shade off but no doubt temporary; eye a
touch round; perfect ear; cleanest of fronts; level; less compact being part of the
maturing process; off-standing coat; just the most awkward of ages, being a
teenager, canine or human!
YD (2 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: KING, Mrs C J. Grizwold Owl Light; just on 18m & a parti; expressive face of a
tapering wedge from broad, almost flat, skull; dark eye; moderate stop; ex
muzzle; firm front; gd, compact, body proportions; well coated; just moved a bitnarrow through but was true & active.
PGD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: SAICH, Miss A J. Lindcoly Polarbear; had to be a cream & aged 2.5yrs; ex
pigment inc eye rims, nose & lips; skull, eye,ears & muzzle all spot-on; almost
square with ex ribbing & modest tuckup to give almost cylindrical body shape;
alert & active so as to be light footed as well as sound.
2nd: ROGERSON, Mrs & mr P & D. Nosregor Hercules; 2yrs black & white; broad
skull; ex eye & ear; touch shorter in muzzle; gd bone & ex feet; well shown to
make the most of him & he duly moved so brisk & true; just a tad longer but level
& through croup to highset, curled tail; hard, straight outer coat.
3rd: BARNES, Ms L & KING, Miss I. Izlou No Prob Llama
LD (5 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: SAICH, Mr & Mrs C & L. Lindcoly Simba; just turned 2yrs orange sable; broad
skull; moderate stop; correct head proportions & pigment; v well bodied with
moderate forechest & angulation; all but square; remarkable on the move that
was straight & effortless on cat feet; full coat & highset tail carriage; well able to
take on the best, as evidenced by topping such a competitive class.
2nd: KING, Mrs C J. Grizwold Night Owl; sable of 2.5yrs; broad, nearly flat, skull; a
little bold in eye & wide enough in ear carriage; thereafter all is top grade;
moderately short neck, well set into shoulder; v well bodied; rounded rib; leg
length longer than depth of brisket; level; ex quarters & highset tail; moved true
& gaited well; correctly coated.
3rd: BARNES, Ms L & KING, Miss I. Claran Copper Nebula At Izlou JW
OD (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: BARNES, Ms L & KING, Miss I. Ch Izlou Shiver Me Timbers ; just turned
4yrs blk; outstanding breed type so as to tick all the required boxes; glorious
& proportionate head features; clean wedge; oblique, oval eye; small ear;
cylindrical, squarish shape; moderation in neck & angles; hardest outer coat,
profuse over neck & shoulder; perfect tailset & carriage; so sound & foot
perfect that was apparently effortless; most important of all is his ability to
produce such quality stock, as evidenced in the catalogue. Dog Challenge
Certificate & BOB
2nd: BLIGHT, Mrs Ellen. Ir Ch Izlou Float Ma Boat; 4yrs b/t; v classy with a
lovely head & oblique, oval eye; ex ear; clean wedge; above all else he was
totally unexaggerated, ticking all the "moderate " boxes; hence was balanced
in angulation; short-coupled; level; scored in coat & tail carriage;
demonstrated his lack of exaggeration on the move that was as brisk as it was
straight.
3rd:TAYLOR, Miss Tina Longsdale Smooth Criminal Von Tispitza
VD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st:SAICH, Miss A J Hocombewood Hot Toddy For Lindcoly; 11.5yrs brown
sable; quite frankly would not have been the least surprised to find him titled
but now see there is a twist, in that he beat his own Ch son, and you can't sayfairer than that! Clean wedge of a head; shortish neck; squarish body; well
ribbed-up & rounded; level; absolutely sound & active on ex feet & with ex tail
carriage.
2nd:SAICH, Mr & Mrs C & L Ir Ch Lindcoly Mischief Maker; 8yrs blk who
scored in body shape & proportions; had length of leg beneath brisket; well
knit; well coated that was hard & profuse; sound & nimble on the move to give
a super outline as he circuited; the difference was his relatively bold, pale eye.

MPB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: BARNES, Ms L & KING, Miss I. Izlou The Truffle Maker; 8m blk half-sister
of the BOB; unsurprisingly, therefore, of classic breed type; flattish skull; ears
somewhat exposed at this, so young, stage; clean cheeks; outstanding eye; so
gd in structure; so gd in being "moderate"; level; compact; came on a tad loose
but that's purely a matter of the maturing process as the front itself is
absolutely straight; moved well behind; ex tail carriage; ex outline whilst
circuiting; a "real" prospect for certain. BPIB
PB NO ENTRIES
JB (3 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: BARNES, Ms L & KING, Miss I. Kitsune The Lioness At Izlou (AI); 13m blk
of ex, breed specific, type; had all the head features & proportions that have
been repeatedly favouring; clean wedge with moderate stop; small ear;
moderately short neck; moderate angles; almost square; level; hard & straight
outer coat; tail appeared a tad tight; so full of brisk activity, and accuracy, on
the move; has an obvious future.
2nd: PEARCE, Mr Gary & FRANCIS, Mr Dale. Longsdale's I Will Survive; 15m
blk; super feminine; flattish skull; moderate stop; a little bolder in eye & with
a bigger ear; clean cheeks; rounded in rib; firm in loin; ex tailset & carriage;
smart moving, albeit a touch narrow through that more maturity in body
should readily address.
YB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: KING, Mrs C J. Grizwold Oops A Daisy; cream sable parti & litter sister of
the YD; dark oval eye with surrounding blk pigment; stands a little narrow in
front with feet turned out; moderately short neck; level; compact; ex tailset &
curved over back; firm at hock; gd coat, not obscuring her outline; positive,
light mover.
PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: SAICH, Mr & Mrs C & L. Lindcoly Black Is Black; 2.5yrs blk daughter of 2nd
in VD; not in her best coat that only showed she had nothing to hide; clean
cheeks on a wedge of a head of correct proportions, divided by moderate stop;
ex eye & ears; rounded rib; moderate tuck-up; level; went well behind; just a
little loose in front.
2nd:BARNES, Ms L & KING, Miss I. Izlou Gossip Girl; cream of spot on 18m &
another daughter of the BOB; of a gd size & shape; no mistaking her sex;
scored in eye & ear; ex blk pigment throughout; so secure in structure; levelbackline but just rising a tad to a slightly lower tailset; absolutely straight
coming & going, on arched cat feet, with a gait that was both brisk & light so as
to impress.
LB (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: BARNES, Ms L & KING, Miss I. Izlou Mustard Been Love; rising 3yrs blk
daughter of the BOB; classic breed type; am in danger of just setting out the
breed standard; nothing about her needs changing; clean head, without
weakness, through from skull to muzzle; almost square; capacious ribcage
with moderate tuck-up; leg length that bit longer than depth of ribcage;
moderate angles; full off-standing double coat with profuse fringe; flat croup
to highset tail with curve; so soundly straight, moving in the same plane, with
lightest gait; her principal award had to be "best name" but additionally Bitch
Challenge Certificate.
2nd: SAICH, Mr & Mrs C & L. Lindcoly I Want It All; 2.5yrs sable; one of
quality & maturity; flattish, broad skull & ex eye; so well bodied & almost
square; moderate angles; level; well ribbed-up and rounded; short loin; well
placed & carried tail; profusely coated; so true & light on the move.
3rd: SAICH, Miss A J. Lindcoly Love Affair
OB (7 Entries) Abs: 2
Wonderfully challenging class with 4 Champions present.
1st: PEARCE, Mr Gary & FRANCIS, Mr Dale. Ch Longsdale Miss Mussell; 4.5yrs
orange sable; all you could want in breed specific type & shape plus outstanding
pigment with blk rims enhancing her dark oval eye; skull is pretty flat & broad;
taper to muzzle to complete the clean wedge; correct neck length, leg length &
body length; some moderate forechest; level; rounded rib; ex tail carriage;
immaculately, hard, coated; unexaggerated, straight & brisk, movement. Bitch
Reserve Challenge Certificate.
2nd: THOMAS, Miss L.C. Int Ch Clarmers Talking Mischief With Kelmorespitz;
6.5yrs blk & a quality exhibit who went well for a "stranger" doing the handling;
just a tad longercast; noted her fabulous ears in her clean wedge of a head; ex
shape & structure; rounded rib; all was correctly moderate; highset tail with its
curled carriage; so soundly active, so as to make the most of herself, on the move.
3rd: ROGERSON, Mrs & mr P & D. Ch Nosregor Unforgettable
VB (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: ANDREW, Ms Karoline. Ch Dagsljus Against All Odds at Claran (Swed Imp);
pretty unbelievable that this orange sable was 11yrs old; most typy, clean
cheeked, head excelling in eye & ear; well pigmented; bang on sound & with busy
activity; almost square; ex tail carriage off-standing double coat; all credit for
having her so well conditioned; such a quality title holder. BVIB
2nd: PURVES, Mr George & PURVES, Mrs June. Bulabs Blonde Lady; this 8yrs
cream was not about to be outdone as she went so well and excelled in blkpigment in all the correct places; flattish skull; dark, oblique & oval eye; moderate
in neck & angles; level; well ribbed-up and rounded; looked a picture as she
gaited so well w/o exaggeration.
