Critique

German Spitz Breeders and Owners Club    Open Show 30^th July 2023

My thanks to the Officers and Committee. I was a replacement judge on the day! I wish Miss H Hall a speedy recovery, My appointment for this club was booked for next year and as I was present on the showground having judged for Leeds the previous day, I was delighted to accept. It does make for a long day for the exhibitors especial when your breed is second in the ring and you are also waiting for the judge who is judging another breed in an adjacent ring.

German Spitz Mittel

Puppy Dog, 2 entries
1^st, Izlou Thai Me Up, 10 months old sable well up in size, masculine head developing nicely, dark oval eyes, small triangular ears set high and scissor bite, front legs viewed parallel stood with ample bone, compact short coupled body, profuse coat, attentive to handler, moving freely well presented, Best Dog Puppy
2^nd, Nosregor Sticking Around, 10 months old sable smaller and less coat than winner, medium length masculine head with clean cheeks, alert dark oval eyes, tall erect ears, scissor bite, clean neck into moderate shoulders and compact body, moving soundly through-out.

Junior Dog, 1 entry
1^st, Kitsune Notorious, 15 months old sable, stood alone but I liked this one, developing masculine head, dark lively and expressive eyes, scissor bite, neat well-carried ears, straight front legs with strong pastern’s, good bone and feet, short coupled and well ribbed, nice double coat, moderately angulated rear quarters with very good muscle tone, brisk mover with good hind action.

Post Graduate Dog, 4 entries (1 absent)
1^st, Izlou No Prob Llama, 2 years old black and white, broad masculine head with flat skull, small high set erect ears, dark medium eyes obliquely set, scissor bite, a well presented nicely maturing dog with a fit well balanced frame, straight front legs viewed, big coat, his movement is free and even.
2^nd, Nosregor Hercules, 2 years old black and white, I do like this colour, balanced masculine head with dark medium size eyes and scissor bite, neck well set into shoulders, well ribbed up and nice coat, on the move he was high stepping and crossing his front legs which cost him for me.

Limit Dog, 3 entries (1absent)
1^st, Izlou You Know You Love Me of Claran, 20 months old black, nice size, lovely masculine head with medium oval shaped dark eyes, small triangular high set ears, scissor bite, clean neck into moderate shoulders, in profile he stands square, lovely cat like feet, his movement is brisk just stiff at front pasterns, I would like to see some flexing.
2^nd, Lindcoly Simba, 2 years old sable of good size, masculine head with alert expression, dark oval oblique eyes, small pricked ears, scissor bite, front legs straight with medium bone, big coat well built with lovely high set tail, moved out a touch wide on the rear.

Open Dog, 3 entries (1absent)
1^st, CH Izlou Shiver Me Timbers, 4 years old black, ideal size for me, head broad nearly flat skull, clean cheeks, dark oblique set eyes, scissor bite, neck of moderate length fitting well into his shoulders, firm body and outline complimented by high set tail, moderately angled front and rear quarters, on the move going away his hocks were clean just lets himself down lacking in forward reach, I was happy to award him Reserve Best Dog.
2^nd, Izlou All You Knead is Love, 2 ½ years old black, moved to brisk and fast so throws his front legs, slow down! Nicely balanced in outline stood, masculine head with medium size dark eyes and scissor bite, moderate angulation  front and rear, compact body with nice double coat, well presented, just slow down or get a dalmatian they do 100 mph! Lol

Veteran Dog, 2 entries
1^st, CH Spellcast Talk To Da Paw at Trebettyn, 12 years young well balanced firm and compact for his age, masculine head with broad skull and clean cheeks, dark oval eye obliquely set, scissor bite, moderate fore chest, straight front legs viewed and well boned, I liked his profile silhouette being well balanced and has typical spitz outline, moves freely retaining a level topline through-out, still retains a brisk action. A credit to his owners, loved him, Best Dog, Best of Breed and Best in Show.
2^nd Hocombewood Hot Toddy for Lindcoly, smaller 11 years young sable, masculine head with dark brown oval eyes that are large, evidently it was a scissor bite with missing teeth, erect ears set high, firm level topline, well ribbed, front legs viewed straight with medium bone, showed himself off well today, nice full coat, brisk free mover a touch wide in front.

Puppy Bitch, 4 entries
1^st, Jansanleis The Magic Pipper with Jenerelena, 11 months old cream, sweet feminine head with oval shaped eyes, high set small erect ears, neck moderately short fitting well into her body with level topline and tail is high set, movement is free and easy, lots to like here, should have a bright future. Best Bitch Puppy.
2^nd, Izlou The Truffle Maker, 10 months old, black, correct for size, developing feminine wedge shaped head with dark obliquely set eyes, scissor bite, erect small ears, clean neck, touch longer in body than winner with big coat that was flat on her back maybe less undercoat, high set tail, front legs viewed straight with ample bone nice rear quarters, moved even. Reserve Best Puppy Bitch
3^rd, Flamuna Definitely Maybe,

Junior Bitch, 1 entry
1^st, Kitsune The Lioness at Izlou ( AI), 15 months old black, this one is right out of the top drawer well balanced through-out, lovely feminine head and expression, dark eyes of oval shape and scissor bite, well boned straight front legs and round feet, compact body and her coat texture is ideal, moved out well with a true effortless brisk action. Reserve Best Bitch.

Post Graduate Bitch, 2 entries (1 absent)
1^st, Lindcoly I Want It All, 2 ½  years old small sable, feminine through-out, dark eyes obliquely set and scissor bite, moderate neck into compact body, front legs turn out at pastern and lovely feet, moved freely, front movement need to be more positive as she was wide coming towards me, hocks even.

Limit Bitch, 7 entries
1^st, Flamuna Shenanigans with Teamor, 6 years old black, won for her silhouette in profile which is ideal, feminine attractive head, neat small ears, dark eye but too round for me I prefer oval shaped, straight front legs with ample bone, moderately angulated both fore and aft, well ribbed body with good tailset and carriage, shows herself off to best advantage, but I had to forgive her throwing her front on the move, such a shame. I can imagine this must have cost her for CC’s in the past as she should be a Champion. Best Bitch.
2^nd Izlou Mustard Been Love, 3 years old black smaller but another with a lot of quality and she too is very pleasing to handle as she is well made and sturdy with very good ribs and body, pretty head and expression, dark eyes and scissor bite, moderate neck well set into shoulders, big coat, free and even mover
3^rd, Claran Blue Aurora,

Open Bitch, 6 entries (3 absent)
1^st, Lindcoly Love Affair, 5 years old black, attractive feminine head although expression spoilt by hazel coloured light eyes, I prefer darker, scissor bite, shapely body and short coupled with good ribbing, high set and well carried tail, straight front legs viewed, good bone and round feet, moved evenly.
2^nd, Ch Nosregor Lullaby, 5 years old black, appealing feminine head and alert expression, neat, well carried ears, damaged scissor bite, compact body well ribbed with excellent tailset and carriage, ample boned with front legs nearly straight, long second thigh to hindquarters, moved out brisk but with front wide this cost her.
3^rd, Ch Claran Blue Galaxy,

Veteran Bitch, 3 entries (2 absent)
1^st, Ch Dagsljus Against All Odds at Claran, 11 years young sable, feminine head and expression, dark eyes and small erect ears, absent teeth, on the small size but compactly made with strong, short loin and good ribbing, big coat, moderately angulated, well-muscled hindquarters, moved well with a very easy, brisk fluid action. Best Veteran Bitch
