Bournemouth Championship Show 2023
German Spitz (Mittel)
PD (2,0)
1. Taylor’s Tispitza's Lullaby of Woe. Two most promising pups got the breed off to a lovely start and it turned out to be a most enjoyable appointment. My winner was this brown just coming up to 7 mths. Confident youngster who pleased for type and presented a lovely compact outline with neck of correct length, short level back, good length to ribcage, short in the couplings and curled tail set on high. Masculine headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, excellent eye and ear, clean cheeks, scissor bite and correct pigmentation. Well constructed all through and stands true in front on very good feet. Moving briskly and with attitude. Best Puppy.
2. Francis & Pearce’s Longsdales The Aviator. 8 mth old black who gave the winner a run for his money and this pup should also have a bright future ahead. He too made the most of himself at all times and was good to go over. Very well balanced with correct neck, firm level topline, well ribbed back, short muscular loin and good tail for both set and carriage. Well proportioned head with masculine expression, moderate stop, dark oval-shaped eyes, small ears set on well and scissor bite. Moving out in typical brisk fashion, true when going away and although moving well in front, winner just had the edge here. Good quality coat.

PGD (6,2)
1. Lewis’ Grizwold Odin at Louchelle. 21 mth old orange sable who pleased for type and overall outline. Moderately short neck, straight topline, well rounded ribcage which is carried well back, nice short loin and curled tail set on high. Masculine headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, good breadth to skull, oval-shaped eyes, ears set on rather high and good dentition. Moderately angulated front and rear and standing on good feet. Gaiting briskly and using himself as he goes.  Good quality coat with excellent texture.
2. King’s Grizwold Owl Light. Cream/white who turned out to be the litter brother to the winner. This lad was lovely to go over and he also presented a very good outline with correct length of neck to balance, level topline, good length to ribcage, short in the couplings and tail correct for both set and carriage. Balanced headpiece with good eye and ear, moderate stop, clean cheeks and scissor bite. Moving true on the down and back and showing himself to full advantage. Good coat and close up to winner.
3. Smith’s Dacfolke Barney Bear

1. Barnes & King’s Izlou All You Knead Is Love. Just coming up to 3 yrs, this black greatly appealed and was so good to go over given his correct construction. I thought him an excellent type and he pleased in outline with correct length of neck, short level back, excellent ribbing, short well-developed loin and curled tail set on high. Quality headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, moderate stop, super eye and ear and scissor bite. Correct angles front and rear and stands true in front with a lovely forechest. Moving true and in typical brisk fashion. Presented in such good coat and condition. RCC.
2. King’s Grizwold Night Owl. 3 yr old sable who was close up to the winner and also appealed for overall type and presented such a good outline. Moderately short neck, level topline, well rounded ribcage, muscular loin although a tad longer and curled tail set on nice and high. Super headed chap with the best of expressions; good breadth to skull, moderate stop, oval-shaped eyes of good colour, ears set on well and correct dentition. Another who is well constructed and he stands well naturally on good feet. Moving out briskly and full of attitude.
3. Taylor’s Tispitza's Futterwacken

1. Roberts, Pearce & Francis’ Ch Longsdales Rebel Rouser at Cwrtafon JW. 4 yr old black right out of the top drawer. One I have previously awarded a RCC to but today I felt he was at his absolute best and totally in his prime. Masculine all through yet with no suggestion of coarseness and a pleasure to go over him with each part flowing smoothly into the next. First class head with broad, almost flat skull which is proportionate in length to that of muzzle, dark expressive eyes, small ears set on high, moderate stop, clean cheeks and excellent dentition. Correct angulation both front and rear, elbows close to the body, standing foot perfect at all times and has the best of feet. When gaiting, he certainly didn’t let himself down, moving true on the down and back and so good on the go around with excellent self carriage. Good quality coat of super texture and shown in first class order. My CC & BOB winner on the day and thrilled to see him later take a very well deserved Group 3.

VD (1,0)
1. Saich’s Hocombewood Hot Toddy for Lindcoly. 12 yr old brown sable who shows himself off to full advantage. He presented a compact outline with excellent neck, firm level topline, good length to ribcage, short in the couplings and curled tail set on high. Nicely proportioned head, ears set on well, a little more stop than the ideal and eyes good for colour but a smidge rounder. Soundly constructed and stands true on very good feet. Moving freely and in characteristic brisk fashion. Good quality coat. Best Veteran.

1. Barnes & King’s Izlou The Truffle Maker. Two promising pups competed in this class, although quite different. The winner was this 10 mth old black. Feminine all through, she presented a compact outline and pleased for overall type. Moderately short neck, nice straight back, good length to ribcage, short loin and tail set on high and curled over back. Nicely proportioned head with delightful expression; good breadth to skull, moderate stop, lovely eye and ear, clean cheeks and correct dentition. Well made both front and rear and stands so well naturally on cat-like feet. Showy girl who moved out briskly and was true both coming and going.
2. Saich’s Lindcoly Colour Me Blue. 8 mth old blue who has a super temperament but needs a little more ringcraft to steady her whilst gaiting so that she can be fully assessed! She is another who is nice and compact with neck of correct length to balance, firm level topline, ribbed well back, short in the couplings and curled tail set on high. Feminine headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, moderate stop, good eye and ear, clean cheeks and scissor bite. Moving briskly on the go around and true when going away but not entirely able to determine what she moves like when coming at you. Excellent coat.

1. Barnes & King’s Kitsune The Lioness at Izlou (AI). 16 mth old black who really took my eye. She greatly appealed for type and presented a lovely compact outline with correct length of neck, short level back, super ribbing, short muscular loin and curled tail set on well. Quality headpiece of correct proportions, moderate stop, dark expressive eyes, small ears set on just right and scissor bite. Soundly built all through and stands so well naturally and shows herself off to full advantage. Didn’t disappoint on the move, true when coming and going and with typical brisk carriage. Good quality coat. Considered for the RCC.

PGB (2,0)
1. Drew’s Doroluna's Diamond Crown. 22 mth old black who has so much to like but I felt that she is not yet fully mature. Showing herself off at all times and presenting a pleasing outline with correct length of neck, nice short back, good length to ribcage, nice and short in the couplings and tail set on high and curled over back. Well proportioned head with feminine expression; eyes of good colour but a little rounder than preferred, ears set on rather high, clean cheeks and correct dentition. Moderately angulated front and rear and goes well when viewed in profile, true when going away and pretty good when coming at you.
2. Monks’ Moons Rocks Cross My Heart at Rozibon. This 2 yr old girl also shows herself to advantage and pleased for overall type. Compact outline with moderately short neck, level topline, well rounded ribcage, short loin and curled tail which could be set on a touch higher. Attractive headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, moderate stop, dark oval-shaped eyes and scissor bite. She stands straight in front and has good feet but would just like to see a little more bend of stifle. Nice and straight when coming towards and going well on the go around.

LB (4,1)
1. King’s Daraydala Missouri of Grizwold. Two very nice blacks headed this class with this 2 yr old coming out on top. She ticked all the boxes for me and was a delight to go over. She presented a beautifully balanced outline with correct length of neck, short level back, super ribbing, short in the couplings, moderate tuck-up and curled tail set on high. I just loved her head and expression, totally feminine and so correct with good breadth of skull, moderate stop, small ears set on well, the very best of eyes, clean cheeks and correct dentition. Faultless construction, standing so well naturally and showing herself fully at all times. When gaiting, she is dead on front and rear and moved out on the go around with attitude and in typical brisk fashion for the breed. Excellent coat and presented in such good order. CC, her first and apparently this was just her second show.
2. Drew’s Izlou Peanut Passion. This 5 yr old also has so much to like and I thought her such a good type and so well balanced. Feminine all through with super neck, correct topline, nice rounded ribcage, firm loin but a tad longer than the ideal and tail set on nice and high. Quality head and expression with good skull to muzzle proportions, dark oval-shaped eyes, ears set on well and scissor bite. Moderately angulated front and rear, elbows close to the body, straight forelegs and very good feet. Moving true on the down and back and carries herself so well at all times. Good quality coat.
3. Drechsler’s Longsdale’s New Addition

OB (4,1)
1. Hall’s Pufnstuf Kiss Da Paw. This 3 yr old black is another super bitch and showed her socks off at all times. She presented a compact outline with neck of correct length to balance, firm level topline, well rounded ribcage, muscular loin and curled tail set on high. Well balanced headpiece with most delightful, feminine expression; good breadth to skull, super eye and ear, moderate stop, clean cheeks and correct dentition. Moderately sloping shoulder, elbows held close to the chest, straight forelegs, cat-like feet and muscular hindquarters with moderate turn of stifle. Eye-catching on the move with correct brisk action and nice and straight both fore and aft. Excellent coat and presentation. RCC.
2. Barnes & King’s Izlou Mustard Been Love. 3 yr old black who also pleased for overall type and has a particularly profuse coat. Moderately short neck, correct topline, well rounded ribs which extend well back, short in the couplings and tail set on high and curled over the back. Quality head with feminine expression; skull and muzzle of equal length, excellent eye and ear and correct dentition. Moderate angles front and rear and stands nice and straight in front on good feet. Moving out briskly on the go around, true when coming at you but a little closer when going away. Good quality coat and showing herself at all times.
