GERMAN SPITZ - MITTEL
It was a pleasure to judge my breed again, and I thank the exhibitors for their welcome and sporting acceptance of my decisions. All dogs were clean and well presented, all went under the measure a very few close to it and some far away but still within the height requirement for Mittels. The standard calls for an almost square look in outline and that the length from point of shoulder to the point of buttock equal to the height at withers, but we still have long backs/loins. Movement is still a big problem, as it is with many breeds at this moment, with wide or paddling at the front to close or almost crossing behind. Most were well muscled in the thigh and moved with drive; but but narrowness through the pelvis area seemed to possibly contribute to the unsound rear action.
VD (1) 1 Smith, Sobriety Suited an Booted. BVIB. Sound dog I have not been over for many years. He has improved with age moving freely around the ring in all directions. Full harsh coat, well presented. Correct in head with good pigment. Neat feet. Balanced throughout. Standing correctly.
MPD (1) 1 Taylor, Tispitza’s Lullaby Lullaby of Woe. Dark brown dog still very much a baby. Nice head but would prefer smaller ears to complete the picture. Balanced fore and aft with well laid tail. Correct in outline when standing still needs to settle on the move.
PD (1) 1 Francis & Pearce, Longsdales The Aviator. BPIB. Mature black dog in full coat with good head of correct proportions. Lovely dark eye and neat well placed ears. Slightly steep in shoulder with neat feet. Sound in body. Correct hind construction with moderation angulation and hock. Movement especially at the front still needs to settle. JD (3) 1 Smith, Jansanleis Night Fever. Well coat mature cream youngster with good pigment. Lovely expression with well placed dark eye and correct ear carriage. Balanced throughout with no exaggeration, needs to be handled as appears a little long at first glance. Rear movement positive with drive, today turning slightly in at front. 2 Pearce & Francis, Kelham Kind Hearted Longsdale. Beautifully presented dog with quality head of correct proportions. Slight turnout at elbows with slightly straight upper arm however gave him a wider front movement. Sound in body with plenty of drive from the rear. 3 Rogerson, Nosregor Sticking Around.
PGD (3) 1 Rogerson’s, Noseregor Hercules. Smart black and white parti colour, wll put together. Correct in head with neat well carried ears. Sound in body without exaggeration. Hind movement sound with drive, front not as settled as kept turning to look at handler. 2 Chapman’s Kitsune Gypsy King. Well presented dog in good coat. Temperament not as settled or relaxed as other exhibits today. Balanced overall but could be slightly shorter in loin. Movement sound in all directions. 3 Lewis’, Grizwold Odin at Louchelle.
LD (3) 1 Andrew, Izlou You Know You Love Me of Claran. Black dog in good coat and condition. Masculine in head with well placed ears. Sound in body, correct fore and aft. First time he moved not so settled, but on the second occasion he settled and moved positively so gaining him the first place. 2 Chapman’s Kitsune Notorious (ai) Another quality dog, a pleasure to go over slightly longer in the back than the winner, but very sound throughout. Excellent on the move the first time around and thought he was my winner but on the second time around decided to play up and all over the place. His day will come. 3 Rogerson’s, Noseregor In a Land of Myth.
OD (5) 1 Blight, Ir Ch Izlou Float Ma Boat DCC/BOB. Almost square in outline without exaggeration. In full harsh coat of excellent presentation. Correct in head, would prefer a slightly darker eye but did not detract from the quality of the overall expression. Balanced throughout, has matured into a quality dog well worth his ticket today. Sound on the move in all direction, driving well from the rear. 2 Barnes & King, Ch Izlou Shiver Me Timbers. RDCC. Another quality dog, litter brother of the winner. Today moved the best I have ever seen him. Well put together without exaggeration. Good coat and condition. Worth his Champion status. 3 O’Leary, Cadasaro Fights On.
JB (2) 1 Moir’s Jansanleis Rave On. Cream with correct head and expression. Very feminine in outlook. Well put together fore and aft, would prefer a slightly shorter back to complete the picture. Moved with drive from the rear. 2 Hutchings-Brooks’ & Brooks & Hutchings’ Jansanleis The Magic Piper with Jenerelena. Litter sister to the winner. Preferred her outline to the winner but not so sound in front on the move. Well presented. Balanced fore and aft.
PGB (1) 1. Moir’s Jansanleis Rave. Winner of Junior bitch.
LB (2) 1 Andrew, Claran Blue Aurora. Compact bitch but within height requirement of the breed. Square in outline, well put together. Good coat and condition. Correct head and expression with neat ears. Excellent on the move. 2 Pearce & Francis, Longsdale’s Don’t Know Much. Another nice bitch very different to the winner. Good head but I would pefer a smaller ear and less stain mark by eye. Slightly longer in back with good tail set. Well presented. Rear movement sound but front slightly wide on occasion.
OB (7,2) 1. King, Daraydala Missouri. BCC. Lovely feminine black bitch a pleasure to go over, sound throughout oozing quality. Correct in head with lovely dark well placed eye. Good harsh full coat with well carried tail. Neat feet. Sound in all direction on the move. 2 Rogerson, Ch Noseregor Lullabye another quality bitch 6 years old in lovely condition. Excels in head and outline. Well ribbed up, neat feet. Not quite as positive on the move as the winner. 3 Williams, Ch Dulais Moonlight Over Paris at Trebettyn
GCB (1) 1 King, Grizwold Oops A Daisy. RBCC. A pretty feminine young bitch, like the BCC winner a pleasure to go over. In excellent coat and condition. Balanced throughout without exaggeration. Moved soundly in all directions driving positively from the rear.
