Critique

Thank you to the society for inviting me to judge Mittels & to the exhibitors who entered under me. It was lovely to see such good sportsmanship across the show. I was delighted with my principal winners and pleased to see BOB & BOS take BIS & RBIS respectively in such good company.

Veteran dog

What a class to start the day with!
1^st CH Spellcast Talk To Da Paw at Trebettyn Shcm VW – Wow. Where to start with this dog! At 12 years old this black male really set the bar high. Lovely square outline that screams Spitz, excellent wedge head with dark eyes, well used ears and full, correct dentition. Correct angles from all directions. Shown in great condition, this really came through on the move where he displayed correct, beautiful movement from all directions. He really is a powerhouse and a credit to his owners. BOS, BVIB and in agreement with the Klein judge RBIS & BVIS.

2^nd CH Grizwold Loki – 10 year old orange sable male. Beautiful square outline, nice wedge to head, wicked dark eye and topped with neat well set ears. This dog was so well muscled & presented.  Effortless movement from all directions, a real quality dog.

Junior dog

1^st Grizwold owl light- 17 month old cream and white parti colour male in good coat. He has a nice wedge to head with neat well placed ears and lovely dark eye. Lovely square outline and correct tail set. He was a little exuberant on the move but when settled lovely movement in profile.
2^nd Grizwold Oriole- litter brother to the winner this orange male left his coat at home today but what was there was of correct texture. When stood he has a lovely shape but perhaps not as developed yet as his brother. He was giving his handler a bit of a tough time and I was unable to assess movement.

1^st Nosregor Hercules – 2 year old medium sized black and white parti male. He has a pleasing outline and nice wedge to head with beautiful expressive dark eyes. Well handled, he was correct on the away but was a fraction high in front today.

Limit dog
1^st Grizwold Night Owl – 22 month old sable male shown in full, profuse coat. He is a picture stood and doesn’t disappoint to go over. He has a wicked dark eye, lovely wedge to head with well placed ears. Good length of neck leading into well ribbed, compact body and topped with a well set tail. Shown in optimum condition his movement was correct all ways. RBD.

2^nd Lindcoly Simba –  Orange sable male with a very thick, profuse coat. Good wedge head with has well placed ears and dark contrasting pigment throughout. He would benefit from a little more body and muscle tone to help complete the picture. Moved ok towards me but wide when viewed from behind.

1^st CH Longsdales Rebel Rowser at Cwrtafon JW – although this dog stood alone he commanded the ring from the moment he walked in. One I have judged before and my opinions on him haven’t changed. He has an impressive outline, gorgeous wedge to head which screams masculine and neat ears. Correct length of neck, good lay of shoulder and well ribbed, lovely strong loin and topped with a well set tail. He was shown in top condition & in full coat. Totally in tune with his handler he was positive on the move from behind but a touch wide in front today.

Veteran bitch

1^st  Lindcoly wishing on a star – 8 ½ year old female. Ok wedge head with good dark eye, missing a few teeth as to be expected with age. Shown in profuse coat, moved ok.
2^nd Lindcoly Pixie princess- smaller black female, she is a shade longer than ideal, she was clearly enjoying her day out but moved ok once settled.

Minor puppy bitch

1^st Kelham Keep Sake of Claran – 6 month old cream bitch who I’m told is recovering from a scare.  She took my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Once calm she is lovely to go over; very pretty head with dark eye and well placed ears. Correct Spitz outline and shown in profuse coat. She won this class on her correct movement. She is worth persevering with. BPIB.
2^nd Lindcoly Sugar Babe NAF 6 month old black bitch at her first show. At the bottom end of the height standard; I’d like a little more of her. She has a lovely pretty head, good ears and dark eye, good length of neck and good square shape. On the move she was a little wide behind. RBPIB

1^st Grizwold Oops A Daisy – 17 month sable and white parti bitch. She is such a pretty bitch, nice wedge to head with contrasting dark eye and pigment. Good neck leading into correct, compact body giving a lovely square outline. She moved well from all directions. I did give her a second look for RBB, she should do well.

Post graduate bitch

1^st Lindcoly Black is Black – 22 month black female having a wonderful time. She was out of coat but shows her lovely square outline. Good head with correct eye, good dentition and neat ears. Movement was very erratic today and made it very difficult to assess.

1^st Lindcoly Love Affair – 5 year old black bitch in full coat giving a pleasing outline. On the table she didn’t disappoint with correct wedge of head and well placed ears & correct bite. Good length of neck leading into well conditioned, compact body. Moved well in all directions to take this class.

2^nd Nosregor Vega Over Trebettyn – 2 year old black bitch coming back into coat, she has nothing to hide and this just showed her square outline off for all to see. She scores in head with lovely dark eye, correct bite and well placed and used ears. A lovely bitch I just preferred the movement of 1.

This was a quality class of champions and I really was spoilt for choice.

1^st CH Dulais Moonlight Over Paris At Trebettyn JW- this beautiful 6 year old sable bitch takes your eye the minute she enters the ring. She has a beautiful square outline, excellent wedge head, dark eye and well used neat ears. Good length of neck, correct lay of shoulder, well ribbed body with nice tuck up and a good rear to finish. On the move she commands your attention, she is effortless and free moving in all directions. BOB & later BIS.  

2^nd CH Nosregor Unforgettable- super 5 year old cream bitch, beautiful square outline with correct angles throughout. Very pretty feminine head with correct wedge, dark expressive eye & neat well used ears. She is correct through and a superbly handled by her owner. On the move she really opens up and shows her correct, brisk movement from all directions. She really pushed the winner, RBB.
