GERMAN SPITZ - MITTEL

My thanks to all the exhibitors for the excellent entry. I was impressed that despite the dreadful weather, so many turned up, some having travelled great distances. What a brave lot you all are! My thanks also to my brilliant steward who, all on her own, kept the ring running very smoothly. I found type a little mixed and a few are at the upper end of the size limit. However, I can forgive this if the dog is well-balanced throughout. Movement could be a little stronger in some. I was subsequently informed that I gave my BOB, BPIS 5 years ago. I must have been impressed with him then and I still am. PD (6,2)1. Pearce’s & Francis’ Longsdales  Look at Me Now. Really classy 7-month-old, compactly built and with a correct outline. His head is of good shape and the proportions are good for his age. He has well-set ears, correct bite, good length of neck leading into well-placed shoulders, his angulation fore and aft is good. Moves very well in all directions, holding his topline level throughout. BP. 2. Saich’s Lindcoly - Tod Junior. Another youngster I really like. For his age, his head is sufficiently developed, and he has the most delightful expression, small ears, good bite and sufficient length of neck, good topline, tail set and carriage are good. He moves well around the ring and like my class winner, he holds his topline on the move. 3.Taylor’s Tispitza’s Unbreakable Vow. JD (2) 1. O’Leary’s Cadasaro Gerhard. There is much to like about this 16-month-old youngster. He has a good wedge-shaped head with enough stop for his age, his muzzle is of good length, ears are well-set and carried. He has a clean neck, straight forequarters and adequate angulation of his hindquarters. 2. Rogerson’s Cadasaro Georgie with Nosregor (IKC). Similar type to my class winner with many of the same positive breed points and therefore much to like. Head proportions are good, his neck is of sufficient length, and his topline is level when standing. I prefer the movement of my class winner. PGD (2) 1.Taylor’s Tispitza’s Lullaby of Woe. Well-balanced throughout, short coupled, good outline, fairly broad head with a good stop, oval shaped eyes, good front with sufficient bone. He moves very well around the ring. Perhaps on the upper end of the allowed body height. 2. Rogerson’s Nosregor Sticking Around. Not wearing his best jacket today, so he has nothing to hide. He has a lovely outline, and he looks good, when standing, from all directions. Although 2 years old, I feel he is not fully mature yet. OD (7,1) A lovely class to judge with so many excellent dogs. My 1st 3 placings (I have subsequently found out) are all from the same sire and are very similar in type. There is little to choose between them. 1. Pearce’s, Francis’ & Roberyt’s Ch Longsdales Rebel Rouser at Cwrtafon JW OSW. This 6-year-old is everything I am looking for in a Mittel German Spitz male. He is compact, short coupled with a breed ideal outline, he has a broad masculine head, dark, oval-shaped eyes, a good stop and pleasing expression, small ears carried correctly. His neck is of good length and his shoulder placement is excellent. There is good bone throughout, and his angulation front and rear are excellent. Topline is level and this is held on the move, his movement is free flowing. A joy to watch and quite difficult to fault. DCC & BOB. 2. Barnes & King’s Ch Izlou Shiver Me Timbers. 5-year-old of excellent quality and close-up to my class winner. Most of the breed positive points mentioned for my 1st placing apply to this boy as well. Lovely head, masculine expression, clean neck, good depth of chest, angulation good fore and aft, moves well in all directions. Splitting hairs, I preferred the outline of my class winner today. Res DCC. 3. Blight’s Ch/ir/int Ch Izlou Float Ma Boat. SBD (2,1)1. Huntley’s Xquisite Thor A Little Grey Cloud at Puidelup. 9-month-old of a colour I love. He is of good breed type, but he really does need to mature, and his hindquarters need to develop so as to improve both his movement and his stance. He has a pleasant head, his length of muzzle is good, coat texture is good. I would like to see him again when he is a little older. BSB. PB (5) 1. Rogerson’s Nosregor Dear Diary. Just 6-months-old and what a beauty she is! For such a young age, she has the most attractive and feminine head with a delightful, friendly expression, dark oval shaped eyes, small ears correctly placed and held upright, short neck and well-placed shoulder. Her body proportions and outline are already very good. Her movement around the ring is excellent. One to watch, I think. 2. Taylor’s Tispitza’s Avada Kedavra. Only 8-months old but already she has a got outline, she is compact and quite short coupled, her head is very feminine with correctly shaped eyes, her bite is good, and her general angulation is maturing well. I would like to see her again once she has matured. 3. Saich’s Lindcoly Trust in Me. PGB (2) 1. Purves’ Kitsune Cream Fudge. Slightly different type to many of the others but she has many breed positive points, which are difficult to ignore. When standing, she has a pleasant outline and her angulation fore and aft is good. She is perhaps at the top end of the size limit. When moving she tends to favour her right-hand back leg. This may be because she is currently in season. 2. Saich’s Lindcoly I Want It All. It is always good to see a dog enjoying their day out and this girl is definitely doing this! It does mean that movement is difficult to assess. She has a wedge-shaped head, sufficient neck length and enough bone throughout. When standing, she appears a little long cast. LB (2) Only 2 in this class but very similar in type. 1. Pearce’s & Francis’ Longsdale Let Da Games Begin. Typy 20-month-old. She is short coupled, compactly constructed, her skull is sufficiently broad and very feminine, head proportions are good, oval shaped eyes, correct bite, excellent pigmentation, neck of correct length, fore and aft assembly are very good. Side-on her outline is breed typical. She moves so freely around the ring that she is a pleasure to watch. BCC. BOS. 2. Moir’s, Moir’s, Moir’s & Mackenzie’s Jansanleis Rave JW. Another bitch who in some ways is of a similar type to my class winner and many of the breed points mentioned for my 1st placing apply to this girl as well, good head shape, feminine expression. Side on her outline is very good. Movement around the ring is free flowing and she moves well when viewed from behind. However, I would like more strength in her front movement. OB (4).1. Barnes’ & King’s Ch Kitsune The Lioness at Izlou (ai). Lovely 2.5 year old with so much to like about her. Her outline is fabulous, and she has a short, well-developed loin. She is strong in both forequarters and hindquarters, her feet are small with well-arched toes. Very good mover in all directions with plenty of reach and drive. In full coat of correct texture. Although I would prefer a slightly more feminine head, I have no hesitation in awarding her the Res bitch CC. RBCC. 2. Pearce’s & Francis’ Ch Longsdale Miss Mussell. What a sweetie! Like my class winner, there is much to like about this 6-year-old. She has such a lovely feminine head and a very appealing expression with correct head proportions. Despite being 6 years old she is in firm condition. Her neck is of the correct length for her size, her shoulders are well placed and straight front legs. Moving very well today, holding on to her level topline. 3. O’Leary’s Cadasaro Keep The Faith. VB (2) 1. Moir’s, Moir’s & Moir’s Ch Jansanleis Mayhem JW. It is hard to believe this bitch is 13 years old! Not only does she look several years younger, she moves also incredibly well for any age, so effortlessly in any direction. Her topline is level and she holds it on the move. Her overall outline is excellent, and she is in firm condition. Very feminine throughout with correct angulation fore and aft. Well done her owners for keeping her in such amazing condition. BV. 2. Drew’s Izlou Peanut Passion. Just over 7-years-old with plenty of quality and she is of beautiful breed type. Her head is good as is her length of neck, shoulder angulation and rear angulation. She is definitely having one of those ‘won’t move’ days’ so movement cannot be assessed.
